  1. I like it when they do satelite or fax weigh-ins to speed up the tournament and to save time, and the tournament still doesn't start until 10:00 or later.....then you wrestle a kid over the actual weight class that he certified at.  This makes for a GREAT day of wrestling!!  I understand that the ISWA doesn't want to have to dictate how a club runs there tournament, but it's getting out of control. There should be mandatory weigh-ins for every tournament. They can speed it up a bit by letting kids weigh-in the night before for a particular tournament if they want to. If you look at how things have changed over the years with Indiana youth wrestling, 10 years from now, there won't even be weigh-ins.

  2. Matthew got to come home from the hospital last night. He got a bad concussion and bruised his spine........he's stuck in a neck brace for a few weeks, but will make a full recovery and return!

Thank You for all the thoughts & prayers!!  :) :)

  3. Congratulations to Indiana Gold for there steller performance this weekend at the NWCA Scholastic Duals!!!  This is just the beginning of something really huge in the sport of wrestling for the state of Indiana! From here on out and for many years to come, Indiana will be a state to reckon with. The talent we have right now at the youth level is unbelievable and it will just continue to grow, not to mention the coach's accross the state are some of the best in the country! A HUGE congrats goes out to Mason Todd on winning the Outstanding Wrestler Award of the tournament!!!

  4. Yesterday was Taybor's first ISWA tournament of the year due to concussions, and boy was I not missing the time off!!!....lol

If yesterday was a long day for you as a parent or a wrestler at Franklin, raise your hand........If you were a volunteer or helped in any way with this tournament, pat yourself on the back......it was a longer day for you!!

Everybody wanted to scream and yell at the Franklin people, when it was out of there control. For any of you that know anything about Track Wrestling, you know it can be the best tool in wrestling, or it can be an absolute train wreck! Yesterday it was an absolute train wreck and it was nothing that Frankin did wrong. (other than using it this weekend)

I am quite a jokester (as many of you know) and I was amazed that I could still get smiles out of the Franklin people as I was leaving the gym at 10:00 at night!  :) .......and I only got yelled at by Pat once yesterday!  LOL  :o.....  We love ya Pat and you have a great group of people at your finger tips!  I bet that 90% of the people there yesterday didn't realize that a lot of your "volunteering" parents had been up all night from the day before trying to get this tournament underway......(because of track wrestling)

Saying all that, we won't let yesterday keep us away next year!

I also want to thank them for asking Tanniehill to officiate yesterday.......He turned a long day into an interesting one....  I would like for someone to get him some glass's though so he can read the bout sheets when he approaches the scores bench to double check the score! I spent most of my day toying with him and he was a real trooper!  ;D......and also a huge congrats goes out to Mr. Ellis for going on the manhunt and investigating who was doing the crop-dusting in our area!  ;)

On a serious note, A HUGE thank you for all the prayers and concerns for my little Frankton wrestler Mathew Poff. He suffered a neck injury in his greco match and was taken to Methodist hospital where he is still in the ICU unit this morning. The response and care he received from the medics at Franklin high school and the ones that transported him by ambulance was great and his family and myself thank you for taking great care of him!!

  5. WOW...This post has spiraled out of control......Congrats to Avon and ALL the teams that competed!!!  I run the club at Frankton and we have 50+ kids, but unfortunately we're 95% beginners. I hope to someday be able to compete in such a tournament!

What's sad about this post and argument is that we're forgeting that it's about our kids.....I hate to say it, but if Yorktown, Owen County, Columbus East, Perry Meridian, Northwood or any other team would have won this tournament, we'd be talking about the same thing!

If anyone has an issue with cheating or building a team outside the legal parameters set forth by Chris Lynch & ISWA, I'm sure your thoughts and arguments would gladly be excepted at an ISWA board meeting.........

Once again, GREAT job to every "KID" that competed at the Elementary Team State tournament!!!!

  6. We went last year and LOVED it!!! .....GREAT TOURNAMENT!!!  Gonna miss it this year though, I just had both of my right legs removed. Are you heading out there Danny? It's a well ran tournament. They make all the wrestlers wear these wrist bands so they have admittance onto the floor, little tip for you....put it around his ankle instead! Way more comfortable and safer for the kids.....That's my tip for the day, more tips tomorrow for ya.....haha

  7. Congratulations to Tucker Kirkoff....Bantam 45 State Champ!!

What a great group of wrestlers we had yesterday, from the parents/coachs to all the wrestlers, what great sportsmanship displayed...... Thanks for a great day of wresling!
