  1. I never said she spit on anybody, although one of the school official's there told my brother that a fan spit on the mat maids. That, however, doesn't make it true. All I'm saying is that two wrongs don't make a right, and an adult is held to a higher standard than a minor. That certainly doesn't excuse alleged poor behavior by a minor, but again, an adult should take the high road.

    PS

If you really will fight "anybody", I hope that the mat maids don't make you mad, as seeing a high school girl with no teeth would not be a pretty sight  :-X

Again... well put Terry. Doesn't sound to me like you accused anybody of anything. A nice observation, though.

  2. I sorry my name is Mike Stevens from Southport and I guess it makes a real differance to the kid with the injured finger that he was penalised not DQ' D it was obvious that it was intentional but as i can see the comunity seems to to approve of these tactics and I find myself in the minorty other than pantherfan so maybe I should think about teaching my kids to compete this way you know throw elbows when the ref cant see bite grab head gear and that type of stuff.

My question would be how do you know it was intentional, how close were you to the action, and how do you know what was going through his head? I don't think that his opponent or the coaching staff from Columbia City were as upset as you seem to be???

I'm not defending the wrestler or his past behaviors, but I haven't seen any incidents of this nature having been reported this sseason, so it seems like sour grapes to bring  up what occurred last year. The Brown County coach is Mark Bruner, former state champion from Homestead, and he's a class act that will address any issue in a stern and appropriate manner.  You can count on life lessons being taught by coach bruner, and it's my understanding that mitchell Ritchey has been coaching  at BC as well, so there's another reason to believe that he's getting good direction.

  3. Crown Point has other opportunities to wrestle their Duneland conference dual against Portage, they strictly choose not to go to the Lake County meet because coach Vlink proposed this tournament several times over the past 30 years and it was shot down. Coach Vlink choosing not to go is mostly sour grapes on his part. That's not a slam on Coach Vlink or CP wrestling, just a fact, and one that he will openly admit to if you ask him.

  4. I noticed that Hawkins, and 3-4 other CP varsity starters were out on Thursday night when they wrestled Lake Central. I think the sickness thing goes in waves with different teams, and they all go through it each year. Luckily, most teams get over it early in the season, but it's tough when it happens at Conseco like it did for Roach last year.

Hawkins and Bradley will get more opportunities to face one another, and I'm sure we'll see them both on the podium in Indianaplois. Hoepfully under the lights, as they'll come through the same SS and would be in opposite brackets.

    PS

Brian Waddle rules when it comes to wrestling coverage!

  5. Munster wrestled 103 pounder Ivan Ruiz up at 112 for the Lawrence North match and that is who Boston beat.  Medina wrestled 119 against LN and got the victory and both he and Boston went 5-0 on the day

Are you sure it was Medina that wrestled 119 against LN, because Brandon Nelson pinned whoever he wrestled from Munster at 119 in less than a minute, and it didn't look like Medina.

  6. 2008 finish:

    1. Mishawaka

    2. Crown Point

    3. Cathedral

    4. Lawrence North

Factors taken into consideration for 2009 pairings:

    1. Nov 11th IHSWCA & Dec 7 IndianaMat.com Team Rankings

    2. Early results from 2009-10 season thus far

    3. Advancement in last season's IHSAA State Team Tournament & returning starters

    4. Avoiding 1st Round rematches from last year while attempting to keep Conference & Regional rivals separated for 2 rounds

There's no way to make it perfect, and there's certainly no intention to slight any team, coach, or particular region of the state. There are several top 20 teams here, all deserving of a chance to win. Coach Wadkins does a FANTASIC job of putting on this meet, brings in great competition, has 8 state finals officials working, has an excellent hospitality room, and does his best to be equally fair to all.

  7. Mr. Barnett,

    IT WAS A JOKE.

Cut me some slack. I totally understand the way the officials are selected.

    I will delete my post.

    Humor is not appreciated.

    TAE

Kudos to cbarnett for the explanation. Whether TAE meant it as a "joke" or not, I had no idea how things worked when selecting officials and often wondered why there were so many officials from Indianapolis and the north. I appreciate the explanation and it doesn't sound to me like cbarnett was offended by the post, he just explained it.

  8. The following Indiana mat officials have agreed to make the trip to Crawfordsville to officiate these great matches:

    1.  Chris Conlisk

    2.  Jeff McClane

    3.  Andrew Willmann

    4.  Randal Hayes

Thank you gentlemen for supporting this event.

    Trent McCormick

I thought we sent state finals officials from Indiana? I've never even heard of 3 of these guys???

  9. Warrendad, please don't take this the wrong way, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Caoch P, his reputation speaks for itself, BUT I am sure if you gave some of the other many well respected coaches across the state the type of kids he has coming to CIA, they would do a pretty good job too.

    Good point!

  10. From DelphiHwt

I agree 100%  a ref should not decide the outcome but when you have 1 kid doing all the off. and going at the other kid you have to enforce the rules I agree 2 in :30 sec. is bad but he should have called it earlier and it wasnt like the match was over and he gave him the point to win it they went into OT and decided it on the mat!

Hmmmmm... If you are indeed the Delphi HWT, you appeared to be somewhat of an expert on stalling yourself in that last match. Not one attempt at a takedown in six minutes  ;D

  11. Blake still has at least one year of school left, and still hasn't done his student teaching, so I'm thinking that it's too long of a drive from Columbus, OH, to Jasper, IN, every day for practice and/or meets  :o

True, the Jasper folks are looking down the road and thinking about him in a year or so, but there hasn't been an interview yet.
