  1. You wrestle until the ref blows his whistle.  I cannot think of any coach that doesn't preach that to their men.  Also, why couldn't you score a takedown in two seconds?  I think a low single would be a legit attempt.  It might be despiration but it is possible to score in two seconds.  If not, at least you went down trying giving 100% of yourself during the match.  Then again, they are just kids.  How clearly did we think when we were teenagers?  Me, not so much.  LOL

  2. Well put Mr. Administrator.  Weber is very flexible and can do what I as a coach calls "the forbidden sin of wrestling" by reaching back for the head.  When I wrestled many (blank) ago we had a young man on our team who could do the same.  It always made for an exciting match and you could never count the kid out until the final whistle blew.

  6. Isn't that the way most coaches are?  I am on the edge of my seat every match personally.  Sometimes I am stretched on the floor.  I try to give every once of energy I have for our kids out there on the mat.  There are some very calm coaches  who very seldom rasie their voice.  There are some who talk through every move on the mat.  Then there are some like Barry, who have an extreme passion for the sport in the way his coaching style is.  I think having a mic on the collar of his shirt would have been nice rather than the large cucumber but it gave the audience a look of what is going through a coaches head while a wrestling match is going on.  It takes a special breed...... 8)

  7. I noticed the drop off when Freestyle and Greco changed the rules drastically.  I can't pinpoint the date but it is when the pushout rule started and the best out of three period rule started.  That was the year I saw a big dropoff in numbers.  When my son wrestled freestly he would have 30-40 kids at state and when the rules changed the numbers were cut in half.  Just my opinion.

  8. I for one must say that the March/Sanderfer celebration for winning the Mental Attitude award was the best celebration for me.  Also I, being a former break dancer back in the day, would like to add that Sanderfer was doing what we called the "helicoptor".  He would have put me to shame but I was more of a "pop n lock" kind of dancer.  LOL
