  1. Getting a 375 lber down to 285 lbs. is not a short term project.  Its very unhealthy to drop 30-35 pounds in a few days.  This same situation happened at our school.  A large football player went out for wrestling to get in shape and to lose some weight.  Each person is different and loses weight at differently.  Unfortunately, he quit the team mid-season and we never got a chance to see how much weight he could have lost.  Good luck with your heavyweight and I hope he finishes the season.  It will surely be a life changing experience.

  2. Im doing a school project about wrestling in general.  I want to also talk about the wrestling history at our school.  I remember seeing a post on the board that had a record of the top wrestling schools within maybe the last twenty years or so. I believe it went by state placers and listed the number of qualifiers. Can anyone help me find this post?

  3. we can all agree that wrestling is a tough sport, and in some cases yes it even becomes brutal, however i gotta agree with mattm here. when this move is done properly it is a definite five point move and period over, but this wrestler had no arch whatsoever and flat out landed on the guys chest. i compare this throw to a guy slamming a wrestler attempting to return him to the mat. its a thin line from being controlled to being  illegal.

  4. Hobart Wrestling Club is selling a 38' x 38' x 3/4" wrestling mat.  It is black in color with white lines.  I cannot tell how old it is, but it is in very good condition with some cracking on the edges but that is the only place.  If interested contact: Coach Don Rogers @ 219-688-0759.

  5. I personally do not see how people are complaining about Caldwell celebrating. the only thing he did before the whistle was blown was throw his hands in the air and circle around the mat and this happened with around three seconds left with metcalf down 9-6, and no way to win.  if you guys think celebrating three seconds too early is bad, im wondering why i didnt hear more criticism over our own state finals.

  6. we will be grouping the closest 4 or 8 wrestlers like we have in the past and having a round robin like bracket. if you have 4 in your bracket you get 3 matches for sure. and im guessing if you have an 8 man bracket it will be in some sort of tournament style format.

  7. Hobart will be hosting a folkstyle wrestling tournament this Saturday Feb. 28th. There will be Friday night weigh-ins from 6-8 p.m., and also there will be Saturday morning weigh-ins from 6-8 A.M. Friday you will have to enter door #17 and the registrations and weigh ins will be in the field house. Saturday morning you will enter door 18 and wrestling will take place in the gym. There will be a limited number of cards that will be sold, however to be safe, it is recommended that you buy a card online and have a print out on hand in case we run out. And of course all this will take place in the new high school  8)

  8. Very disappointed that Munster dropped this tourney because they have been a rising team the past few years in the region. Although the only matches in the finals between ranked wrestlers can be 112 and 30, there are a few matchups that can be good matches. im interested in seeing if  acuna can pull off the win at 125, would be a good championship match between him and camacho.

  9. There was some good matches at the haverst this past weekend, especially in the lighter weight classes. At 103 paul petrov faced freshman stud kyle ayersman and really surprised me only losing 7-2 and wrestled a very tough match. At 119 in my opinion the older petrov really handled escobedo winning 7-1. chris almeraz survived a scare also at 152 being thrown in a headlock and 2 centimeters away from being pinned.
