Hey there are other topics on this board that are all about wrestle backs. Can we get back to tough semi state ticket round matches?
-
What happen to Hileman? Saw a lot of people picked him to win it all at regionals. First round upset? Or did he not wrestle?
-
Merrillville
170-Sopko vs Wiseman
182-Jones vs Scott
285-Streck vs Duvall
-
Since when did the whole Merrillville semi state become the region?
-
Looking at the brackets I see every final with either a Merrillville or Portage kid in it except 160 and 220. Should be a close team race.
-
from the east chicago sectional: (they might not all be upsets but im looking at the ssq rankings)
120
- Ruben Rodriguez over Matt Lechowicz in the semi's. Great match
138
-Isaac Rentas of Merrillville over Zach Slosser of Munster by 1 (I think) in the finals
Rentas was down by 4 in the 3rd and turned him a couple times from the top.
145
-Willie Armstrong Merrillville over Jake Sebehar Lake Central in the finals
152
-Kodie Christenson Lake Central over Mike Feliciano Bishop Noll by 2 in the finals
160
-Damian Gomez Bishop Noll over Matt Hollins Merrillville in the finals
170
-Ramiro Cazares of Gavit over Jeff Brassea of Lake Central in the semi's
182
-Eric Deluna Merrillville pinned Alex Tucker Lake Central in the finals. LC was up by 4 or 5 in the 3rd before the pin.
285
-Shawn Streck Merrillville pinned Mike Pajdzik Hammond Gavit in the finals

I've heard a ref tell coaches that if the kid backs out of the circle without contact he will hit him with stalling. Good call. All he had to do was keep good defensive position. I'm sure just posting on the guys shot could have prevented the call.
-
Are you sure that is Carmel, IN or Mt Carmel in IL?
If he lives in Munster my guess is he would take the 20 min drive to Mt Carmel as opposed to the 3 hrs drive to Carmel Indiana.

Any moves unstoppable if you hit it right
Any move is stoppable of your in good position and defend it right
-
Ranking have always just been opinion. If you or your kid isn't where you/they think they should be then Saturday is the first step to prove them wrong.

KENNY HUGHES LOWELL 30-0
Did Hughes/Maldonado happen? What was the score?

160 Colin Hileman NW beat madrando mccutcheon 3-2, the match score looks close but Colin dominated the match, had him on his back on the edge within one minute intothe match, multiple takedowns on edge of the mat out of bounds, if there in the middle Colin wins big, Colin has yet to allow a TD this season 32-1. Overall
I think he will win the logansport regional, probably be him vs madrando in the finals, Colin is looking great right now, hopefully he can keep it rolling into sectional & beyond
Of course I'm confident in him but last few weeks have had multiple coaches say they would be surprised to not see him wrestling at bankers life!
160 is stacked at Merrilville, some real good wrestlers going to be left out
I think the Calumet regional has 3 guys at 160 that can hang with or beat any other regional champ outside of Hughes. Maldonado beat Madrando pretty handily at the Harvest. The top 5 160's come out of 2 regionals. It should be an exciting weight class to watch.

From the above post it seems CP and Lowell are wrestling and I've heard Merrillville is out of state at a very tough tournament. It would be nice to have them there but at the same time you have to understand why they are not.

Looks like Sopko got pinned in the quarters at 170. Anyone see the match?
-
How was the crowd? I'd be interested to see the final attendance and financial numbers for today. The IHSAA might be kicking themselves for not doing this years ago.
I'm glad we have a great group of guys doing amazing things for Indiana high school wrestling.
-
I remember back in the day when there were no semi state rankings and the overall rankings were only updated every couple weeks or so. We are so spoiled now.
-
Seems like this weekends results are still coming in. My guess would be today or tomorrow.
-
Any results?
-
It's tonight according to the paper.
-
Also during 106 finals match a fan crossed the line tonight. I've watched fans get kicked out before but never what I saw tonight.

There is a shortage of refs if you think you can do better you should take the test
