Not close to being the biggest or best.............but I was very pleased with the Evansville area fans cheering for all the local kids. I sat with a group of Reitz fans and very close to Castle, Central, Harrison and Heritage Hills. I could see the North Posey fans (Pink) and could hear Memorial and South Spencer. I did see and hear the MD crowd but they were a little spread out.
I'm a people watcher (that's my hobby) at these events. I thought it was very cool that all the schools were cheering so loud for most, if not all, of the boys. We bicker a little and take jabs throughout the year...........but in the end.........we respect the sport and support all the local guys.
Sitting directly behind the Castle fans and watching the reaction and emotions from the podium spread throughout the Welch family, loved ones and all area fans.................wow...............I'm a little choked up just thinking about. What a cruel, tough but fantastic sport!!

I'm the biggest Cosgrove fan on this site and Y2 sent me a PM telling me to quit talking about him. Could you imagine a Lebron James fan being told not to talk about him on a basketball forum? I thought it was weird of him to do that then I just wrote it off as him having personal problems and needing to take it out on someone on the internet.
I'm sure it's an unwritten rule or just standard etiquitte but when it comes to receiving a PM........................you shouldn't post it for the general public to read.

I would love to see some replays as well. I always seemed to be a couple of seconds off on some of the big moves.......I would hear the crowd roar or gasp and I look up - it's too late!

I can't remember the details of the story since it was >15 yrs. ago since I went through the Copper coaches training. However, during the training, our instructor showed us a video of an Olympic match where the ref scored the match 6-3 (? or something like that). There was a protest or review etc. and the actual score should have been 7-2 (the other way). Again, I'm not sure about the actual scores................the bottom line of this story was............."here is one of the best referees in the world and he didn't get the calls right. Please give our young referees a break during the Folkstyle and Freestyle seasons".

Wow - great stuff! My productivity at work will certainly take a big hit as I use this info to fill out my bracket!

Fair enough.. How about "Reitz fans who agree with the line of thinking exhibited by bluegraypanther in that post"?
You're getting closer.
I heard from a Bosse rep yesterday that the Ford Center is becoming more difficult to work with and price gauging the haites out of the Evansville schools. 10k to rent, has to buy all food from them. Attendance has to stay around 4k, or they gonna give it up.
I kept hearing that the new North High School was being considered.
-
I guess it depends on how it is viewed, but I don't really see how you can say Reitz beat Mater Dei. Sure they scored more points, but to me looking at that as a victory is akin to a kid who can never win just trying to find some victory. I'm not a Mater Dei fan more than any other team in Evansville, but it just seems to me Reitz fans could be happy with their performance without having to interject MD into the conversation.
But hey, that's just me.
Don't lump "Reitz fans" together. You are responding to a comment by Blue Gray Panther.

in order to be a champion u have to win your matches.... so why have wrestle backs ... if u dont win u dont go so thats when u dedicate your self to get better so that it doesnt matter about the draw.
Your scenario doesn't do too much for the Seniors.
-
The argument against wrestle backs with the "life isn't fair sentiment" is totally wrong. If we can make it better, why wouldn't we?!
Chris, I think you summed it up in these 2 sentences.

Thanks for sharing. What a great man! His dedication to the sport and youth brought back memories of another great man we lost way too soon - B.B.

My only real gripe with the re-alignment is I have to go to Castle 3 weeks in a row. SIAC, Sectional and Regional......................that is a borderline "Blue Blood" overdose and the worst thing about it.............they no longer offer ChickFilet (sp?) in the consession stand! However, they still have Diet Ski which keeps me coming back!

here are the results from last year at 106. I assume Fox beat Kuhn in the Semis.
106 lbs.
First Name, Last Name Grade W-L Rec. School
1. Jacob Brown 10 43-1 Castle
2. Hunter Fox 9 40-3 Cascade
3. Damon Kuhn 11 43-3 Evansville Reitz
4. D.J. Smith 10 31-6 Franklin
5. Terrance Kennedy 11 36-2 Floyd Central
6. Griffin Schermer 9 32-11 Bloomington South

I completely agree
Champions are determined on the mat..............placers are frequently determined by the draw!

29-27 in favor of the Castle Sectional

You're correct..........wrestling is for kids. The message board is primarily for wrestling fans which includes us "pot bellied old men"!
-
While it is true that a lot of people say a lot of stupid things, this is a discussion board. People will make predictions. Try http://www.quiltingboard.com/ if you want to play it safe.
I don't see any jack leg on this board putting any more pressure on a MD kid than the program and it's rich tradition already places on them.
Thank you mtv2112...................this is a discussion board. If all we did on here was congratulate the kids - it would be pretty boring. That's what Grandparents are for!!
-
I don't get counting the chickens before they hatch. Why put that pressure on the kids? It's like NFL players that guarantee wins. Just doesn't seem to be necessary.
It's easy for Chi Town Hustler.....................he's not necessarily a MD fan...................just a wrestling fan making a prediction.
-
And it seems to be the guy that is in the lead that gets dinged for the stalling. A leg rider that is behind is working for the fall, the same leg rider is ahead and is now just hanging on. A guy on bottom that is ahead and is getting worked over is avoiding wrestling, but if he is behind then it becomes ok?
It is the one area that officials need some education on and need to stop thinking they should be noticed. Am I wrong?
Amen Brother!

It was pretty easy to see we had one ref in particular that had NO CLUE he was working a wrestling tourney. In his defense there WAS a swim meet happening the same day and he may have Mr MaGoo'ed himself into the wrong dressing room...
I agree and I didn't undertand what the penalty point was for in the 126 match. However, with Welch "cranking" on the LEGAL move - it is definitely potentially dangerous even if it shouldn't be called that way. I said before the match that we may see some painful combinations if they presented themselves.................and they did.
I can't beleive nobody has mentioned the 120 match with Castle and Heritage Hills. HH won but I made a note in my book that Castle clearly had the pin and held it for what seemed like 15 seconds. There was something else that happened in that match that had the coaches worked up at the end but I can't remember what it was.
