One of the ledgedary Maldonado fathers said to me, I as I entered my boys in their kid club. He said, more than likely you the parent will burn out before your kids do in this sport. All I can say is that he was absouletly correct. However, I also can say that it's been worth it. Traveling to all the different clubs to practice, the kiddie tournaments locally to the state and national tournaments it's been an exhausting road though it's been a fun ride.
As they entered HS I cut the umbilicale chord (very hard to do but necessay) and let my sons figure it out and let the coaches do their thing. I figured out that I couldn't keep up the pace as I did in the kiddie days, so hands off was the best policy for my situation.
The regualar HS seasons have always been fun but to be honest, once the state tournament starts it's an emotional roller coaster ride for the parent more so than for the kid. The most gut wrencing is ticket round at Semi-State...after that it's all gravey as you can sit watch great matches and relax.
The only advise I would suggest to parents is the " hands off policy" works, enjoy the little time you have while you can and leave the pressure on the wrestler and coaches.

Interesting individual match up next week at the Triacoff and hopefully these 2 teams will eventually meet up that day.
Manderfur vs Roach
I'm not taking anything away from Eric but I'll have to go with the senior. What a great opportunity to for the Bulldog to make a statement win or loose. Any other opinions out there on this possible match up or other individual match ups?

Who did Little Tee wrestle from Chesterton?

Hey...you're right, I was always a fan of wrestling up and getting stronger during the growing years! 103 and 112 lbs's you're usually wrestling freshman and sophmores and usually cutting like a dog. Then when you're a junior / senior and find yourself between weights and wrestling a junior / senior who is wrestling strong and not cutting; you find yourself weak and not confident...case in point was Eric Galka his junior year when he was cutting down to 112 and then finally had to jump to 119. When all things are equal the stornger man will prevail.

Wow...sounds like it was a heck of match and a good one possibly coming up. Sounds like Bryce has paid his dues, good hard wrestling to both men going forward!

What was the score b4 the pin?

I've never seen Bryce Schendel wrestle before and I'm not taking anything away from him, however I seen the Corpe wrestle 145lbs at the Chesterton Duals this season. In my humble opinion I see him on the podium at whatever weight he chooses.

Here's the breakdown by the numbers of participants by weight and HS class. I find it interesting that the number of freshman participants is only 10 total? It seems as if in years past that number was greater, especially at the 103lb and 112lb weight classes. What I also find pretty amazing is that there are 2 freshman at the 189lb weight class. Of course wrestling has always been dominated by the upper classmen, however this year seems to be more seniors than in years past. Anyway, good luck to all wrestlers!!
