  1. You will see 95% of the usual there I am sure. Perhaps a couple missing names in both greco and FS. I expect most to be there. They will compete under the neutral athlete flag. Not RWF or UWW.
  2. Overall though should be a very solid team, arguably even stronger than last year with Savadkouhi being in such good form. Should be 7 to 8 medals in that team all being well. I would say the gold contenders are Zare, Kamran, Yazdani, Savadkouhi, Rahman, and even arguably AM Yazdani. Not saying all will get gold of course, and all depends on the day and the draw but they all have a realistic shot at it. Russia will be there but anyone know about their team selection? I haven't heard anything and if they are there surely they will be doing their team selection process any day now.
  3. Exactly. Which is why I wanted Azarpira. Simply for the fact I thought I reckon he would do better in Serbia. But there isn't much between the 3. I do think Momhammadian would have won gold again if he was allowed to compete.
  4. I wanted Azarpira to win. I thought some new fresh blood will be best for Serbia and he will learn from his close bout with Snyder. Almost had it to, but gave up that takedown right at the end. With one eye to Paris however, I think it will be Kamran at 97kg. Likely Zare, Kamran, Hassan, at the top 3 weights. 65 Rahman. 57kg could be anyone, but no one is too strong. The most fascinating for me will be who gets 74kg. With a lot of talent from 79 going down and some from 70 going up you will have a real gauntlet-Emami, Savadkouhi, Nokhodi, AM Yazdani, MH Firouzpour. That's gonna be interesting. I imagine it will be between the first 3 I mention, but it will be a bit of a cut for Savadkouhi and Nokhodi
  5. Team imo will likely be Ahmadjavan Atri Rahman Am Yaz Emami Savadkouhi Yazdani Kamran Goleij Zare Tbh that is a solid team. Should be a minimum of 7 medals there at least. The only thing is at 97kg I still reckon Mohammadian would have won Takhti champs if he was allowed to compete, I'm just not sure who would perform better internationally between him, Goleij and Azarpira. Looks like it is gonna be Goleij regardless, if he can perform like he did in Oslo then he should at least get Bronze, and should make a Snyder match competitive.
  6. Zare still on another level right now. Felt bad for Azarpira. Thought he was gonna take that win, but got caught in the final seconds.
  7. What are the other finals? I'm going to go with Zare and Azarpira as my picks to win.
  8. In a bizzare turn in one of the first matches this morning, Amin Taheri gets pinned but then after the match ends the referees on video replay decide the match should happen again later in the day as they feel it was a wrong call. His opponent doesn't even turn up in protest for the replay and Taheri will face Masoumi in the next bout. Masoumi's dad is going crazy at the refs with this decision given his son will have to face Taheri which is a tougher bout for him rather than the other dude. He even has an argument with Pejman Dorostkar. Mad stuff.
  9. And solidifies his place in the team for the Worlds. He's had some year with massive wins. Sidakov, Burroughs, Kadgimagomedov and Nokhodi. He will be a real challenge and contender for Gold. I do wonder if he can make the cut to 74 successfully..... Good wins at 92 and 65 too. But I doubt they guy past Kamran and Rahman. Ahmadjavan wins at 57. Realistically our weakest Olympic weight.
  10. Yup think first round is over so finals will be at 4pm Iran time. On channel 3 of Iran. There should be Instagram wrestling pages which will show it too. Tomorrow will be weights for Yazdani, 125, 97. So more interesting matches. 4pm is finals as well. I think first round is available earlier from 11am on the sports channel
  11. I hear freestyle will send a strong team to Hungary. Today and tomorrow is Takhti champs. By the end of it we will know for sure the majority of the World team. Today likely we will see a strong final between Nokhodi and Savakouhi. Highlights tomorrow will be 97kg, where we will have a new rep for sure since Mohammadian isn't taking part. And likely a match between Zare and Masoumi.
  12. Would you kindly be able to supply the final results of each weight?
  13. Zare will return to the camp in a few days. They reconciled. It will be business as usual soon.
  14. Definitely, coaches will probably try to get him to be slightly more strategic/defensive, not sure if he can win matches against the elite with his style, but he is fun.
  15. This Yasin Rezaei has the most offense/little defense ratio I've seen in an Iranian wrestler in awhile. Entertaining.
  16. That is nuts. I've never heard or seen that before.
  17. Think Azarpira will take a lot from that match, biggest opponent he has faced, he held his own for much without being a massive threat himself though, silly mistake too which could have put him 1-1 up on criteria with about a minute to go. He will improve for sure. Looking like the future for Iran at the weight, 97kg will be fascinating battle domestically to rep the Olympic spot next year. I can't call it.
  18. Damn. Nolf is good, but Emami should be beating him really. That was disappointing one. Penn state really have strategised so well against the Iranian style and the underhook. Iran really needs to counter strategise themselves effectively when coming up against those guys.
  19. I think Zahid's issue is his gas tank, wrestling one match one night different to what he done now. He was fading more and more as it went on. He would have had a closer match and perhaps beat Japan if it was like the WC. Regardless as was said before Yaz should/would have teched him. He had a nice match vs Mark Hall, shows how good Yaz and Taylor are over everyone else.
  20. Wow. Emami beats Salkazanov 5-0. Brilliant. He's faced the top 3 guys in the world in the last few months and has done great. He's shown he has improved a lot and definitely 74kg doesn't look as bleak as it once was.
  21. Although he has performed great recently, he still hasn't beat Chamizo, Dake, Salkazanov or Sidakov. If he is 2nd best I would be happy.
  22. Draws came out for the Zagreb ranking series. Emami will face Salkazanov if he gets past Japan. Some nice match ups potentially. Hope we get to see Azarpira vs Snyder.
  23. They get matched up with their training partners. Sucks for Kamran really, I don't believe he WANTS to go to 97kg, he just feels like he doesn't have a choice. If Hassan wasn't in the picture, he would be wrestling at 86kg 100%.
