  1. Does anyone have details of the Moody/Mckinley match?

Moody controlled the first two periods.  It was 4-4 entering the 3rd and Moody cut him to go down 1.  From there it was a tilt until McKinley scored a reversal.  Moody did get an escape then cut him to finish the match.  Moody got in several times and was very deep on one that McKinley just made a great save on.

  2. N. Boston looked like himself again after a rough showing last night.  Micic looks like the wrestler to beat early.  Brooks and James going to be very interesting to watch.  Welch was defeated by Garcia in a great back and forth.  Todd/Petrov looks tough to call after great showings by both.  Crume/LeCount = coin flip.  Blanton beats Molloy (biggest upset thus far today) and McKinley pushed to the limit by Moody.  Farrell/Lannert has all the makings of a slight upset.  Jackson rebounded against Bova and stuck him quick.  Tsirtsis just that good.  Conner Mullins just got beat by Quincy Richey.  Impressive win.  Conner Robinson c0ntinues to impress with an 8-5 decision over Lough.  Tyler Willis not showing any signs of being injured, easily advances.  Tanner Lynde looks great today, moves by Crabtree with ease.  Mappes wrestles very smart against Matt Irick, advancing 4-1.

  3. Is anyone giving Lannert a chance against Jackson at 138lbs?

Absolutely.  Lannert will have a tough match tonight with Cody Handley, but I do believe Lannert is the better wrestler so he advances.

Jackson is a beast but Lannert could push him.  Of course I dont want to discount Farrell either, who's looked exceptional.

  4. I'm not really sure why you say that Welch vs. Campbell won't be close, and say Welch will win. But then say Todd will beat Welch. Campbell lost by one point to Todd, then lost another close match to him in the semistate.

A lot of people are counting Campbell out, but he has wrestled and beat some great Indiana grapplers. He has beaten Todd more than once in high school. He has beaten McKinley and Harvey too, and they are both ranked No. 1 in other weight classes. He also was just seconds away from beating Ayersman last year in the finals. I'm not sure why people act like he won't stand a chance.

I'd hate to discount Campbell, and by no means do I want to disrespect him but I just believe Welch is better and will win 7-4.  Of course, thats why they wrestle so who knows.  I just noticed I didn't predict Todd/Petrov so my comment looks bad.  I have Todd over Petrov 3-2.  Thats why I said it wouldn't be as close as that match.

Either way I believe the 120 class will be a great example of Indiana wrestling.

  5. I'm looking forward to 120. There are 15 wrestlers out of the 16 member field ranked in the top 20 (good job rankings guy), and there are three undefeated wrestlers in the group. There is also a state champion and a state runner-up in the mix. Should be dynamic from Friday through Saturday night.

Looking forward to that semi-final match between Todd and Petrov, if the stars align correclty.  Welch/Campbell I don't think will be as close.  Welch vs Todd with another Todd championship imo.

  6. What a night it will be.  Good luck and best wishes of health to all wrestlers.

The 132 pound class is going to be awfully exciting this year.  I think Molloy & McKinley are the clear cut leaders but the road will be tough.  132 will bring us some great battles tonight - highlighted by Blanton/McHugh.  I'm taking McHugh in a close 6-5 decision.

Also, Loe/Moody will be very intriguing.  Loe has surprised me at times.  I'm going with Moody but it will be very close as well.

Last, and maybe most surpring, I'm thinking Forte/Fuller will be a back and forth match.  I'd never seen Fuller wrestle until last week and he ran through Larson & Perez.  I think if he is as aggressive with Forte as he was last week he could shock a lot of people.

Ultimately, Molloy & McKinley should be wrestling around 8:00 on Saturday Night for the crown.

What class has you the most excited?

  7. I suspect that deep down, Homesweethome is like the rest of us and is simply disappointed that this young man won't be able to show us the great wrestling that his has given us over the past three years.  I feel that this poster can't be serious.  This has to be a bad attempt to get a rise out of everyone.  Because if he is seriously ripping on this great wrestler and fine, courageous young man, then the wrestling community doesn't need a fan like this.  My advice to this poster is to please stay home.  I for one don't want you there.  By the way, you are entitled to your opinion, but please when your message is this negative you are missing the true intent of our great sport.  Please keep your opinions to yourself.

Headlock nailed it.  I also wonder why people have said that he was "never the same."  Let us remember that Cody's only losses were to Mason Todd, Jared Brooks & Cody LeCount.  So to lose only to national ranked wrestlers and to be hurt during his match with LeCount but going 4-3 is impressive.  There are about 40 some odd other wrestlers LeCount beat this year that would have loved to went 4-3.  He is destined for great things, even if its not in wrestling, in life in general.

  8. I dont know the extent of his injury or the validity of him being out tomorrow, what I do know though is that he looked in pain at Semi-State.  After watching him before and seeing him in his 3 matches at New Castle, it appeared to be his back.  I noticed it within the first minute of his first round matchup.

If he is indeed not able to compete it is a true shame for wrestling fans.  He is not only a great wrestler but by all accounts an outstanding young man.
