  1. About Reitz leaving Central because they couldn't beat Mater Dei. It was a huge disrespect to not only Reitz but to the other schools who are part of Castle Sectional. If semi state didn't count then why keep a score? I didn't say anything rude, inappropriate or disrespectful about Mater Dei. I congratulated  Reitz. Well deserved congratulations for beating their talented west side counterparts.

So exactly how did Reitz do against MD in the Regional?  In their Dual?  Hummm?

Here's a clue, there is another school that took fewer in to the Semi-State and got the same results out as Reitz did.

Would you PLEASE stop making all the Reitz faithful sound like clueless twits?

  2.

It's simple actually.  Look at the representation of schools from each sectional in the Championship bracket.  Over all the Castle Sectional was more. Evenly distributed.  MD obviously takes the most into the finals as usual, but ended up with two champions.   Reitz and Heritage Hills with 3 apiece  taking only 3 each.

It's the same argument as always, quantity wins tourneys, but Quality of the wins is what matters in the end.  If things had been left alone the Central Sectional would have had a banner year at Regionals.

You can look at it how ever you like.  In the end they kids have to wrestle and winning each match is what is important.  But placement coming into a tourney DOES impact the next weeks tourney.  Do you honestly think it is probably some of the brackets would have look like they did if the sectional alignment had remained the same?

It was a Black and Blue day out there though.  A lot of banged up kids and gutsy performances.

Let's just say what everyone has been saying in the stands and in private since this was announced.  A certain program whined and cried about never having a shot at a sectional title as long as Mater Dei was in their sectional.  That's what I have listened to all day from just about every person who cared to comment.  Don't bother replying, I just thought it was important to let what others are saying be known.  Years of tradition and one of the greatest rivalries in the states history, and it's all scrapped because someone decides they can't win.

  3. I don't get counting the chickens before they hatch. Why put that pressure on the kids? It's like NFL players that guarantee wins. Just doesn't seem to be necessary.

That has been the focus of more than a few exchanges on various threads recently.  Writing checks for the kids that they may not have a chance to cash, and then "giving examples" as why they didn't win after they have not quite reached the goal someone else set for them.

I can only assume the people do this have never stepped out there in front of friends, family, and strangers; dresses in next to nothing, and competed in the one sport that will test you like no other.  Like the kids need the added pressure.

  4. I agree and I didn't undertand what the penalty point was for in the 126 match.  However, with Welch "cranking" on the LEGAL move - it is definitely potentially dangerous even if it shouldn't be called that way.   I said before the match that we may see some painful combinations if they presented themselves.................and they did.

What bothered me the most about the 126 final was what wasn't called.    This won't be popular but it was pretty obvious.  Before the wrestlers ended up in a situation that could have really injured one or both of them, Welch had the pin.  If the ref would have called what was right in front of him for more than just a couple of seconds, then nothing would have progressed t where it ended up.

I give all the credit in the world to Todrank for fighting it, but his shoulders were down and the ref let a punishing hold continue by not calling the fall he was staring right at.  That is how kids end up hurt and possibly ending a career.

  5. To all those parents coaches and wrestlers that have called or asked about Tristen McDaniel, For those of you that don't know, Tristen has been, unfortunately ruled totally ineligible thru his entire sophomore season for moving schools in the off season. But we insure you that he will be back to full eligibility for his Junior and Senior year. He is looking forward to getting back to his wrestling, football and baseball.  For you'll that haven't seen Tristen lately he has shot up in size hes pushing 6' 2" and weighing about 170 to 175 lbs we as he parents And Tristen are very grateful for the continued support over the last 5 months it means more to all of us then you know. In closing again we would like to say thanks to all.

I hate to hear of anyone missing mat time.  There is not much of it to be had when you look back, so missing a quarter of your high school career in any sport is a disservice to the kid!

  6. What I took away from this is the Heritage Hills and South Spencer have so really strong upper weights!  The South Spenser 195 is a beast!

A lot of dinged up kids coming out of this sectional.

Does anyone have any idea what was called in the Todrank/Welch finals match?  Todrank got a point for something, but no one seems to know what actually was called.  The ref of that match was HORRIBLE ALL DAY!  He spent more time at the scorers tables then he did on the mats!

  7.

You make-a-me-laugh. You said Reitz wrestled like a 4th place team implying Castle was better overall. I say Reitz wrestled short handed from illness and still came 5 points from 2nd. I say Kuhn is the favorite and you talk about a match against a total different kid from another program. What kind of fan are you to call that excuses. What was Reitz suppose to do wrestle a kid in 2 weight classes to fill the line up?  The kids wrestled like a short handed team and still came a point from Castle. Be proud of that Mr. Legacy.

Did Castle finsih in front of Reitz?   Nod Yes.

Then on that given day, Castle outperformed Reitz.   It's reality!  I am not sure why you have trouble seeing what it right in front of you, but there it is.

  8. What if you lose and the excuse is that you are not as good as the guy that beat you.  Would you be ok with that?

On that given day, is that not the only real reason why you lost?

At that given time, for that given 6 (or whatever) minutes, I lost to someone who had a better situation.  That is kind of the entire point I am trying to make.  If a kid is sick, hurt, has a wart, whatever, it's all about the 6 minutes on the mat.

  9. Pantherfan is absolutely a Castle parent who bashes Reitz at every turn. Period.

Actually NO...Pantherfan is NOT a Castle parent.  I am EXACTLY what I have stated and my screen name here implies.  For that fact I am someone that HAS contributed to the Reitz legacy with my teammates back in the day.

To simplfy it even further for you I will spell it out.  I was a part of Reitz Wrestling when it wasn't considered proper to provide "Explinations" as you call them.  We had pride in our team and each others accomplishments.  Our parents were are biggest fans, and supported our coaches and pushed us to understand the correlations between wrestling and the life after wrestling.

I can't think of any parent of any of my days on the hill that would (if it were available to them) even consider broadcasting the lame "explinations" you have graced the internet with this season.

  10. If you are a Reitz parent then you know they didnt have a full line up. The team wrestled pretty good and was 5 points from placing second. The remarks made were not an excuse and did not come off that way at all. When a "fan" goes on a blog and talks about how the Reitz team wrestled like a 4th place team when they know there was not even a full line up it is insulting at best to the kids that wrestled hard to earn every victory. That was the jist of it. Several of those kids did show up and wrestle sick and to have "pantherfan/basher" from Castle to say otherwise just shows they have no respect for wrestlers. Lehmen wrestled like a state placer and deserves every accolade he gets. That is exactly what I said.

How many "parents" are here from Reitz anyway? I have met most of them and they are all cordial. Me thinks there are some moles on here.

The point is, and you and one or two other just aren't getting it, There are no excuses.  Honestly what you posted, and other posts you have made, come across as sour grapes and whining.  I think every team is battling adversity of some type.

Someone who had wrestled before may be aware that excuses, or as you refer to them - explanations - cheapen the efforts of the kids that went out there and gave it their all.  The point is people log on here, run their mouths about being "dominate" and when it doesn't work out, they offer what sounds a lot like excuses.  I am positive the kids work their backsides off, and honestly saying that we lost as a team because we didn't have our stud at whatever weight is basically saying "hey we know Timmy sucks".  You can argue that all you want, but don't think for a second that the kids and coaches read that sort of thing and it paints a huge target on the kid.

I will agree to disagree.  What you want to think about who is who or from where is all about the world you live in.

Am I a Reitz Parent?  Not currently, but I am an alum of the program, and in my day the wrestlers would have disowned any parent that spoke of our team mates like that.

Not bashing Logan Wedding?  Some how this makes sense to whoever posted it.  Why would I bash a kid that has repeatedly proven he is a warrior and, if what we hear is true, I have all the respect in the world for him showing up and wrestling with the injury he has.  But then the Memorial fans aren't on here going on about any of that now are they?  Get the point?

  11. If you read the post before you got on here and ran your mouth, it clearly says it is not an excuse and Lehman wrestled his butt off. As a parent of a Reitz wrestler, illness has ran rampant in the wrestling room over the last couple weeks. Yet I promise you none of them are using it as an excuse. Hopefully they can all be as close to 100% as possible come Saturday. At this point in the season, I don't think any wrestler is 100%. Good luck to all the wrestlers this weekend!

You just made my point.  NO ONE is 100% right now.  So why bring it up?  Facts are facts, we wrestled like a fourth place team last weekend.  To say otherwise IS making excuses.  It's really simple when you think about it.  And as a parent I would expect you to want to learn the most important lesson of all in the sport your son competes in, no matter WHAT the situation, what issues are, you HAVE to perform.  For someone to show up here and even toss that crap out there is rediculous and belittling to the kids, the coaches, and the program.  Do you honestly think that the flu and other illnesses aren't in every room in the state?  What a clueless joke

  12. Lehman came ready to wrestle and without a doubt earned that victory. That being said I have been told by one of the wrestlers dad that the entire Reitz team has been fighting a chest cold and virus over the last 2 weeks and have passed it to each other. Thats no excuse for losing but as a person who has had a very similar chest cold if not the same one I can vouch for the fact it zaps you of almost all your energy and breathing ability. The last few Reitz wrestlers have been unfortunate in catching it this last weekend. They are all glad it was before Sectionals. I do not take anything away from Lehman because that kid looked like a state placer this weekend but a healthy Kuhn is a much different Kuhn. Lehman looks awesome and will be a great wrestler to represent Mater Dei and Evansville in the very near future.

How did Lehman do against Mastison? Anyone know?

Seriously?  They were fighting a chest cold?  Well that changes everything!  Give them the trophy guys, they wrestled in less than perfect conditions.  Once again you bring discredit upon the program I busted my butt for.  PLEASE feel free to keep your excuses to yourself!

Brown and Mastison are great wrestlers and all 3 of them can represent the sectional all the way to Indy!

For the fans of other programs, not all of us believe in excuses and crap like that.  You have to perform when you get the chance and you understand that sometimes that means sick, hurt, distractions like family and friends, erc etc etc.

  13. Have not seen the brackets or even sat down to look at any possible seeding info.  Just going off what I have seen.  The real grinder in this one will be consolation rounds.  There will be some really spirited matches for 3rd!

    106 - R

    113 - CA or R

    120 - R

126 - CA (BV second if the seeding allows)

132 - Me (if healthy enough) CA otherwise

    138 - BV - Dark Horse Pick

145 - HH (?)  Really not an easy pick in the group)

    152 - ME

160 - Ca - (Going out on a limb with this one, brackets may get in the way) Could be R or even SS.

    170 - HH

    182 - HH

    195 - SS

    220 - HH

288 - I will say MV  Heavy's are completely unpredictable.

  14. MD had 4 freshman and 4 sophomores in the lineup and yes the HWT was out.  The varsity 106 was out as well which would have made it 5 freshman and 3 sophomores, but that really wouldn't have mattered against Ferguson.

Most of the teams were very young.

  15. I agree that Castle will have more wide open classes with what looks to be on paper more balance top to bottom.  It looks like MD will put allot in the finals if they wrestle to form.

The Castle Sectional is by far the more open on paper.

Yes there are many of the "faithful" that believe it wall be a walk over for one school or another but I have to disagree completely.  There are some VERY strong kids coming from the PAC and Big 8 schools.  Memorial has some strong talent and Harrison has a few kids that can pull out wins consistently.  You have to give credit where credit is due, and those kids have earned their recognition without a lot of talk on the internet.

I am starting to wonder if we could get away with eliminating the sectionals down here and set up a 2 or 3 day Super Regional!
