You don't know what the heck you're talking about. I wish they would ban you already.
I feel weird quoting a guy who has as many negative cool points as he does quotes, but I agree completely.

I think he would have gotten 4th i mean he did lose to todd in the championship last year right? and i think that the top three at 120 would look just as dominate at 113 or even more dominate
If you're going to assume that those wrestlers would be as dominant at 113, assume, too, that they would be a little bit weaker than they are now at 120. And just because Brooks lost to Todd last year in the finals doesn't exactly mean that he'd take another loss this year. I agree with Caleb that it would all come down to who is having the better day.

No disrespect to you Brennan, but how about a matchup between Harper in his prime and Tsirtsis?

I can't stand when a wrestler questions the ref, let alone yells at him. There are coaches for that. Bad call or not, be a gentlemen (or lady) above all else. Who knows, maybe respecting the ref will earn you a make-up call in the end

Neither Penn nor Plymouth's gyms are large enough to host semi-state. Then again, neither is Merrillville's! zzzing. Perhaps Plymouth or Penn or SB Clay could host the semi-state at Notre Dame. But ND doesn't really have high school athletic events like they used to. It's gotta be a bigger place like Notre Dame or Mackey Arena at Purdue.
Talking with a Penn parents recently. They told me the school is considering constructing a wrestling facility on the Penn campus, near the school, but not physically attached to the school. The reason is because Coach Harper has over 100 wrestlers per year the last few years and they expect that to grow with about 150 wrestlers at Penn's three middle schools right now. Is this true? I am not sure what is more incredible, the amount of wrestlers or actually having a high school team with its own facility.
I haven't heard anything about Penn wanting to build a separate facility, but it would be a good move, but probably pretty pricey as well. Also, moving the venue from M'ville to Notre Dame (might be a bit of a stretch for the teams farther South) or it's equivalent (Mackey Arena) would be awesome. I can't stand walking in to M'ville a few minutes late and not being able to find a seat. They really need to consider moving it, and actually put some serious thought into it instead of just talking about it and not going through with any of it, but like IRONMAIDEN said, the AD is on the IHSAA board, so this semistate probably won't move for a while..

This is hilarious. Post of the week.
Without a doubt.

He has a chance... Brooks is beatable
I'll give you that, everyone's beatable, but after watching Brooks wrestle, he's so confident and so dominant in all phases that it's going to be a long shot to take him out. I'm not saying that it's not possible, it's just next to impossible.

ill take smith at 126.. he was robbed out of many points in that finals match, officiating as a whole was the worste ive ever seen all day long..every coach there was saying same thing. awful!! but should be a nother good finals match
Hard to argue with that...there were a ton of missed calls/poor judgement calls. And yea, Smith is a good bet to take at 126.

Yes, after looking at the other thread I think so!!....So back to the zigler situation....hard to know what happened there...but it is a reminder of how much the tourney becomes a mental challenge at the end of the year for the wrestlers. It is much mental as physical for everyone on the competition. Dealing with adversity, overcoming the challenge, and dealing with a tough loss all are part of the equation.
I think it was something along the lines of him not wanting to starve himself anymore to make the weight, but don't quote me on that. He's still a great guy to be around and he is a very good wrestler, he just had a hard time this year and had to try and overcome ALOT of adversity, with him missing roughly 1/3 of the season. He was never in the best shape (due to his absence) and I think that played a huge role in him not wanting to continue also.
-
Who did he lose to? Was it a bad call or could he just not accept losing.
Lost to Espinosa in OT. Ref was sketchy, but that was no reason to lose. Espinosa got in on a double and Joe didn't sprawl which put him in a bad position and he couldn't hang on for a stalemate.

The kid is a dark horse to make it to state. That's why I was so surprised ptownfan had him not in the top four.
He definitely has the potential to make a run, it all depends on whether or not he shows up to wrestle. As for making it out of Sectionals, that should be the least of his worries, but being at 160, it's definitely not going to be an easy road getting down to state. He's going to go through a lot of tough competition, but if he wrestles like I know and like everyone else knows that he can, I see no reason why he couldn't make a strong run.

Kinda been outta the loop for awhile, but Geez-o-pete do LaPorte and New Prairie still HAVE wrestling teams? WTH is going on there? :-\
New Prairie is sitting on a team record of 30-7? Somewhere close to that..They've also got 4-5 wrestlers over the 30 win mark, with a handful sitting around 25-29. I know LaPorte has some very solid individuals, too. The teams are still there, no doubt, there are just a lot of tough individuals in this semi-state that draw a lot more attention.
-
If that is his resume then i dont think he will have any problem getting out of sectionals.
He also took out Casey Sonnaty from North Newton. Sonnaty was #14 at the time.

Looking through the brackets, it seems like there are going to be lot of good matchups this weekend. Any predictions?

Wade Young from New Prairie took out Katsafaros 3-1 (OT) at Sectionals and 3-2 just yesterday so he'll be riding a little momentum going into this weekend. Look for him to be a good sleeper pick.
