  1. Fact is.. he shouldn't have wrestled in the finals and i would of had no problem with the outcomes.. as a fan thats not something i wanted to see.. but that would have been the best outcome for both sides... and i beleive that if the doctor had ended that match he wouldn't have wrestled in the finals.. so therefore i dn't buy all the talk of the dr. not letting him continue...

  2. If some of you people would read earlier posts in which trainers and such have posted their thoughts... you don't dislocate ur shoulder and then it get better 3 hours later.. it indeed gets worse.. and as for the brace... those things don't do crap.. bottom line if the refs/doctors would not allow him to finish his semi-final match he would not have wrestled his final match..  As a fan that is not something u want to see in the finals.. but it would have been the only way to make this right.. personal opinion - Cathedral/tyler willis = ALL STATE DIVE TEAM 2010

  3. Here is my point of view and what people in my area were saying on the whole situation. First it was an Illegal or dangerous move that Vlahos has been taught by some of the people he trains with and they know it should not be run that way! Willis was definitely hurt, but I thought the Cathedral Coaches told him to Default..which he did not want to from his response. Now if I am wrong about this and the Trainers/Dr's made him default instead of his coaches, then I am sorry. No way should Tyler have been boooed, but a I think part of the hate was going back to the Coaches(Mcginley). Tough loss for a very good Vlahos, but he also should have handled the situation better by time he got to the awards stand. It sounds like Tyler is a very good kid and unfortunately the whole situation stinks because a senior in Vlahos did not get to win or lose on the mat and Willis will always be seen by some as a guy who layed down to win a match.

AGREED! although doctors dnt make that decision.. its just their opinion..

  4. he should have forfeit the finals match.. as a fan thats not what i wanna see at all.. but if ur hurt that bad.. u shouldn't wrestle.. and im reading some saying there was doctors and some saying there wasn't.. bottom line.. they don't run the show.. its you or ur coaches call at the end of the day..  and by the way things panned out though. i think vlahos would have won that match.. after seeing him and reese wrestle and then reese beating lafever 11-0.. willis beat lefever by like one..

  5. agreed.. two lbs is a lil light.. not to mention as a former wrestler at franklin and at purdue for a year i would have to honestly say that cutting weight taught me many life lessons... setting weight goals and obtaining them.. responsibility in managing my weight.. self-control.. etc.. i could go on and on about this subject.. cutting weight is part of this sport and it is something that i beleive makes this sport great.. cutting weight and managing can tell a person a lot about themselves...

  6. Knura of franklin beat a 1 seed.. dn't recall who but he pinned him, ive been reading all week about how well put together mcray at 160 is.. well i know knura is a 215.. but wow.. thats a kid thats put together.. especially a sophmore thats only wrestled 4 or 5 years...

  7. He did beat Kendle at freestyle state over the summer. I did see that match and it went to the 3rd period. After Kendle lost he did not throw a fit or act like a fool. He went back and did what he needed to do to improve and win the next time. This is their result from freestyle state:  Dustin Kief (franklin) over Cody Kendle (Petersburg) Fall 1-2,7-0,0:58

Well from what i heard, true or not, they have had a few run ins and there was some bad blood.. i mean not justifying anything that happened i did see kief pointing at kendle and saying something to the ref. when the went out of bounds multiple times throughout the match.. but the only people who know what he said were on that mat.. ohwell.. its over now.. haha..

  8. Karl broke it down perfectly.. i couldn't agree more.. and although i read were someone wanted bloomington south up one group.. i would have to say unfortunatly (not a BS fan at all.. haha) that they will be up there soon.. they are a force to be reckoned with for sure.. they just haven't been on that level for as long as some of the teams listed in the top (that i know of)..... so soon.. they will be considered "elite" by karls breakdown..

  9. abcd... Mater dei and franklin both have been able to win big "elite" matches... you cant judge a program by observing them wrestle one day.. elite programs travel for competition right? out of state competition need be.. well both of these teams do just that.. not to mention i know franklin goes to calumet to the traicoff memorial (prolly misspelled it) and that is with out a doubt one of the toughest tournaments this state has to offer... i guess i just don't get ur definition of elite.. and apparently u don 't either considering not a team in the state falls into the "elite" category in your mind..

  10. i agree carrer... umm im pretty sure they won twenty something county titles in a row and like mid teen's sectionals in a row... round ten regionals in a row, and went to team state every year since that tournament was created until 2003.. Not to mention how many programs in the state have had wrestlers that compete in the olympics? Bryce Hasseman won state in 2000 at 160.. yes hes still wrestling.. i think hes ranked like number 2 for the olympic team right now.. been in colorado since he left college..  and should make it to the olympics next time around.. oh and how many coaches in the state have won over 500 dual meets? thats a very short list.. does that sound like an average program? i think not...

  11. tru i guess it is mostly parents.. not me tho.. haha.. i do understand what your saying... but like i said i assure u its being dealt with... his emotions got the best of him.. he went from state runner up to not even qualifying..  a huge deal to any competitor.. im not justifying his actions, im just saying franklin builds competitors... and they will not be content when the lose.. you don't spend hundreds of hours doing something to lose..  and he was just not able to hold the emotion back till he got to the locker room...  he really is a good kid just extremly competitive and passionate about the sport he loves.. i also am pretty sure he and his opponent that match have had bad blood from previous matches, freestyle probably..  all i know is that he will come back focused and in the hunt for the title next year.. focused and on a mission.. i can guarantee that...
