early in the match jolas was dominating. in the 3rd however, kern started it off with an unsportsmanlike that pretty much broke jolas. i look for a much better match in the regional finals between the two..
Don't know what match you were watching but Jolas schooled Kern. After Kern realized he was getting schooled his sportsmanship went down hill fast. Jolas took the high road and cruised to victory. Kern had a few other unsportsman like move that the ref ignored. I would expect the same result if a rematch occurs.

I am not sure how I feel about this whole situation at this time but for the Huntington coach to pass judgement is unfair. It is easy to feel the way he does when the school takes in the whole county: 1915 students, half of which are likely boys. Eastern's enrollment is 469. Do the math. I took the 1915 divided by 469. Over 4 times as large. I think that if Eastern is down to 7 wrestlers from injury or sickness and all qualified for individual regional they should look to get healthy for their individual success. I do not know how Eastern's team is but they would have to be pretty stacked to even keep the score close to the other teams in the team regional. Again do the math: 6 forfeits equals 36 points and then they would seemingly have to win every match by fall. I think Eastern has thought long and hard about this whole situation, weighed their options, likely taken a team vote before they came to their final conclusion. What if the whole team came down with something then would they be excused. I am pretty sure a football team came down with a staff infection and had to forfeit some games. I guess I have come to my conclusion during this post. I agree with Coach Peck, the school, coach and AD have a responsibility to the kids as does the IHSAA. It can't always be about the money. Unethical? Transferring wrestlers at semester break? Mr. Cox's line in the sand is a bit skewed!!!
I think you must have misread the 2 posts from the Huntington coach because at no point does he pass judgment on the team, coach or program at Eastern. It is quite apparent that his concern is the possible demise of the team state tournament.

While 800 wins is a great accomplishment, it is sad to me that he uses loopholes in the rule book to to gain an unfair advantage over the other teams in the conference. There is legal and there is ethical. While what he does is legal, it is not ethical. By manipulating the seatings as he does, he is showing his wrestlers that 'win at all costs' is acceptable and sportsmanship and fairness take a back seat. When an opposing coach was approached by the NC athletic director and the ethics of this 'situation' was brought up, he got very quiet and quickly changed the subject. To me, that says it all.
I do hope that this statement is not misread as an attack on the coach or AD because it is not intended to be. The way it was written it could come off sounding like that. So, if I offended anyone with my prior post, it was unintentional. My point was high school sports programs in general have put winning first and foremost, but have lost sight of the spirit and sportsmanship their programs are supposed to instill in their athletes.

i can give you what i know. from NC side. NC won at 119 125 140 and 160 2nd place at 103 112 145 152 and 215. hope that helps. back to Pech. the rule state if you have an unseated wrestler you may replace any of you seated wrestlers with that wrestler. it is down to a chess match at this point. Rex didn't get over 800 wins by being stupid and not knowing how to play the game. good luck to all the young men a women starting this week of sectionals. hope all your dreams come true. and you will only get as fair as the work you have put in. Good luck

#16 ranked Mofield from New Castle was pinned by Baber of Logansport @215 yesterday at NCC Conference championships.

Cooper had a broken hand I believe. He must be slated for return during the post season for him to be ranked.
From what I heard today, sound like Cooper from Huntington N. won't be wrestling again this year. Recovery from his wrist surgery has gone slower than anticipated so it sounds like he doesn't want to risk further injury.

Can anyone tell me the teams that will be participating in this tournament? Obviously Avon will be hosting, but who else will be there?

If I am not mistaken, Huntington North freshamn Kyle Jolas beat Lawrence Central's Riley Newkirk by dec. yesterday at 112 at the Bishop Luers Kennerk Initational.
-
If I am not mistaken, Huntington North freshman Kyle Jolas beat Lawrence Central's Riley Newkirk at 112 yesterday at the Bishop Luers Kennerk Invitational.
-
I believe Huntington North will also be wrestling at the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Tourny as well.
-
Evans from Huntington North at 189 was also undefeated.
-
I believe the final 3 places were LaPorte, Lakeland and Delta in that order.

Yorktown Super Duals being held in Peru

Huntington North's 215 wrestler Evans certified at 189 today so he is dropping a weight class and I believe that Eckert will be wrestling at 125 instead of 119. One to watch also will be there freshman Kyle Jolas who should be at 112.

I believe 11/27 at Peru H.S. dual tournament.

My mistake...I know we wrestle them each year and had a momentary brain fart. I was just curious about peoples thoughts on the conference.
-
Which teams do you think will be front runners in this years NCC? Peru is always one of the favorites but which teams do you think can challenge them?
-
one word.........
Chalfant
I agree about Green. If he can't muscle his opponent to the mat quickly, he gases and doesn't bring much else to the mat...no pun intended. Can't easily complete a shot because of his short, over-muscular arms. If his opponents can get past the first period and have capable take downs, he can be beaten. A lot of his points are scored for opponents stalling.

Here are my first four picks. 11 Champs from Oak Hill Sectional.
103 Garretson, Young, lloyd, Mock
112 Randle, Benedict, Flores, Brittain
119 Miller, Pence, Eckhert, Simpson
125 Workman, Newsome, Louck, Williams
130 Horner, Downey, Shepherd, Herring
135 Shepherd, Goodnight, Waite, Dennis
140 Taylor, Wells, Stage, Hetzner
145 Sparks, Hovermale, Hiple, Page
152 Duke, Dickey,Thomas, Kirtlan
160 Lloyd, Stephens, Hunt, Lutz
171 Bratcher, Harvey, Grey, Enyert
189 Scott, Swan, Reed, Colby
215 Green, Smith,Hunkeler, Ammons
285 Floyd, Cooper, Reich, Buckalew
Evans pinned himself against Ammons in their first match while going for the pin himself, lost to Green in a 5-3 decision at conference, then beat Ammons easily with a 9-2 decision at sectionals...could be the suprise at regionals. His main downfall could be that his wrestling weight this year has been between 190-195...hard to give 20 lbs a match and be expected to win.

HN fan or not...unsportsmanlike is unsportsmanlike and of course a coach/father is going to react when another wrestler uses a dangerous move or unsportsmanlike conduct against one of their wrestlers.
