  3. Today
  4. Yesterday

  8. New Prairie will be toughest dual team in Northern Indiana outside of Crown Point.
  9. And there is also not a set number of state qualifiers. If you are 5th in your regional but run/jump or throw "state standard" you advance to state also. One athlete can also compete in 4 events, not just 1 weight class.
  10. Wow, heck of a win by him. Looks like New Prairie is getting better in a hurry. I have heard Kendrex is attending New Prairie as well, maybe @Misty Kendrex can fill us in if I am correct or not.
  11. We are all set for tonight 4/15/24. We have Aiden Sprague for UInday. Aiden did two of our RTCs last year and was great. Enter door 9 starts at 6. We will have some time at the end for live wrestling tonight.
  12. Flo wrestling mentioned Indiana as like a “tier 2” in terms of toughest state tournaments, so, would we consider guys like Mendez and Howe and tsirtsis as like the “tier 1 goats” and these guys like Vinny and Delaney as like the upper tier 2 goats?
  13. Team sports vs individual sports are very different. If you aren't winning titles eventually as an individual, you're losing matches and can't be considered the best. In team sports, you could lose games but still be clearly the best individual. I do agree that being a 4-timer or being undefeated for a career is overrated. Mason Parris losing a match as a freshman at a big guy weight or Howe losing early to a fellow all-timer shouldn't mean anything when compared to 4-timers that were at low weights and/or didn't face royalty as freshmen.
  14. This is a topic I originally posted on the InterMat board and I wanted to bring it here. You can see the original post and responses in this link: https://intermatwrestle.com/forums/topic/4384-is-goat-talk-in-wrestling-only-centered-around-championships/#comment-147755 With all of the recent media coverage of Caitlin Clark in Women's Basketball and what she's done during her tenure at Iowa despite never winning an NCAA Championship, I am curious if the same kind of conversations can be held in wrestling even if they rarely are. As a Hawkeye, Caitlin Clark has been a three-time NCAA season scoring leader, named player of the year twice by three different publications, a Sullivan Award winner, Big Ten player of the year three times, first-team All-Big Ten four times, a three-time unanimous first-team All-American, and the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer among other accolades. Despite her elite résumé, she is a two-time national runner-up. Now, I understand basketball is a team sport, but take a career like Daton Fix's into consideration; he is a five-time Big 12 champion, a four-time NCAA runner-up, a U.S. Open champion, Pan Am and Pan Am Games champion, and UWW world silver medalist while part of the Cowboys. Is he considered to be in GOAT/All-Time Great talks the same way athletes from other sports are, or is it negated due to his lack of NCAA championships? For a hypothetical, let's say a wrestler in the Big Ten won everything imaginable minus the Hodge and NCAA title (ex.: Fix), could he still be in contention with a résumé like this? Fictional Career (For Post) 131-4 career record Four-time NCAA Finalist Four-time Big Ten Champion Three-time Most Dominant Wrestler Three-time Gorriaran Award NCAA season takedowns leader NCAA season escapes leader NCAA Division I all-time takedowns leader Three-time Big Ten Wrestler of the Year Big Ten Freshman of the Year NWCA All-Rookie Team If this were an Indiana high school wrestler, take someone like Delaney Ruhlman, Vinny Corsaro, Tristen Tonte, or even Brandon James who are frequently mentioned amongst the greats or for a fictional example, say a wrestler won four semi-state, regional, sectional, conference, county, and holiday tournament titles but always got beat every season by the same person like a Jesse Mendez or Andrew Howe, can he still be in GOAT contention?
  15. Last week
  16. Fishers RTC - Wednesday, April 17, 6-7:30 PM - Enter Door FH6, Walk Straight Down Long Hallway, Wrestling Room is in Auxiliary Gymnasium on the Right Clinician: Alec White - Indiana State Champion - Wrestled at Purdue University - Big Ten National Qualifier Requirements: - Must Have a USA Wrestling Card - Must Be a Schoolboy (14U), Cadet (16U), or Junior
  17. I'm 90% sure Peru's next coach is Derek Fuller.
  18. Like Matt said, I figured OSU had a succession plan with Coleman Scott, who really elevated North Carolina during his tenure there. Those are some massive shoes to fill for Scott. Smith has always been one of my favorite figures in NCAA wrestling and I will miss his scowls matside. He often has a big presence at World Team and Olympic Team Trials and I'm sure this week will be no different.
  19. unknown Andrew, what’s so wrong about posting notable results? We have parents who post when their kid commits to what high school they decide to go to and that seems totally acceptable. What’s wrong with posting a kid who had a good weekend?
  20. Unknown Tanner. Everyone knows how good he is no matter what grade or age he is. That doesn’t matter.
  21. The man is a living legend. OSU & the sport of wrestling is losing one of the GOAT's. He is still relatively young, I wonder what his plans are?
  22. Farnell and Staples wrestled an exhibition today at the warrior RTC. It was a scrap but Staples won 15-5 giving up around 30 pounds and up a division as an 8th grader! Farnell tech Kendrick’s earlier in the day. Quite the showing!!!
  23. Lopez is going for 5 Olympic gold medals. Wow
  24. I think we now have some clarity for the Olympics team 86 - If Hassan recovers, he goes If not, and if Ghassempour can make weight, he will go If not, then Vaffaie goes, no medal for Iran 97 If Azarpira qualifies, then he will go if not, no one goes Iran so far has only qualified for 65, 86, and 120. I think Iran will most likely qualify for 74 and 97, It would be nice to qualify for 57 just to gain experience, no chance of medal
  25. can see Pejman tearing into Amouzad at 13:53 berating him for letting Musukaev rest and for calling for a challenge in the first period (which was rejected and meant they couldn't challenge the clear singlet grab foul by Musukaev at the very end of the match)
