Warren has 12 guys ranked (State or Semi-State), Perry has 9 and Roncalli 7.  Based on that you would believe Warren Central is the team to beat but there is no doubt both Perry and Roncalli are good enough to make the team race a toss-up. I believe they have the seeding meeting tonight and hopefully they are posted so we can have a meaningful discussion.

Never gone to this tournament but I plan on going this Saturday. Do they break the day up into multiple sessions or just go straight through? I imagine the day will start out slowly with a number of byes, forfeits, mismatches in the opening round.

Small breaks between some of the rounds but typically it moves very well.  Naturally you will have some byes/mismatches but overall the talent is strong and competition is fierce.

Perry Meridian: 3 - 1st seed, 2 - 2nd seed, 2 - 3rd seed

Roncalli: 5 - 1st seed, 4 - 2nd seed, 1 - 3rd seed

Warren Cenral: 3 - 1st seed, 5 - 2nd seed, 2 - 3rd seed

Rebels and Warriors both have 10 seeded in the Top 3, Perry is next with 7.  As usual the title will be decided on how ‘the team performs’ and not only the top kids but looking at the brackets Roncalli & Warren should like their chances to unseat the Falcons.

Will be an entertaining Saturday.

Looking at the team race, see below for the potential head to head battles between Perry, Roncalli and Warren. Assuming the seeds hold, which I know won’t happen every time, Roncalli would face a wrestler from Perry/Warren 12 out of 14 weights before the Finals (8 times it would be Perry).

There are 8 brackets where the probability is high they will each have a wrestler in the semi-finals.  (106, 120, 126, 138, 152, 160, 170, 220).

Fun, fun, fun.

106 - Semi: Perry #3 (WC), Glithero #2 (Ron) // Cottey #1 (PM)

113 - Quarterfinal: Pierson #1 (WC), Wilson #8 (Ron), Semi: winner, Haggerty #4 (PM)

120 - Semi: Lowery #1 (Ron), Venegas #5 (PM) // Stewart #2 (WC)

126 - Semi: Slivka #1 (Ron), Cotter #4 (PM) // Ross #2 (WC)

132 - Semi: Viduya #1 (Ron), Cavailero #9 (PM) // Beatty #2 (WC)

138 - Semi: Freije #2 (Ron), Smith #3 (PM) // Rowlett #1 (WC)

145 - Quarterfinal: Warren #2 (PM), Page #7 (Ron) // Graves #1 (WC)

152 - Semi: Coleman #2 (WC), Smith #3 (Ron) // Fair #1 (PM)

160 - Semi: Salazar #1 (Ron), Baker #4 (PM) // Taylor #2 (WC)

170 - Semi: Davis #2 (PM), McClain #3 (WC) // Mahan #1

182 - Semi: Clayton #3 (PM), Peeples #No seed (Ron) // Dykus #No seed (WC)

195 - 1st Rd: Bishop #7 (WC), Wade #No seed (Ron) // Goodall #8 (PM)

220 - Semi: Lane #1 (PM), Mitchel #5 (WC) // Fears #2

285 - 1st Rd: Harris #2 (Ron), Jones #No seed (PM) // Hubbard #5 (PM)

The Rebels are slimming down:

Viduya is at 132, Freije is at 138, Page at 145, Smith at 152, Salazar at 160, and Mahan at 170!

Two explanations COULD be (1) bad cooking or (2) good eating habits. Realistically it would probably be explained by the reasons below:

132 -- Better seed and now the favorite to win

138 -- Still a great chance to have the champion

145 -- It would have been difficult to beat both Graves and Warren regardless; high placement is still a possibility

152 -- Better seed and more likely for a higher placing

160 -- Better seed and now the favorite

170 -- Better seed and now the favorite

182 -- Not better.

Overall they improved their seeding, probably improved their scoring and in turn lowered the available points for Warren & Perry.  That is a win-win-win in my book; now all that is left is execution.
