Avon 132 in order of seeds!

Kreitzer 22-3 BB

thomas 33-4 GC

Reynolds 20-7 AV

burdon 29-4 PF

weddle 16-4 BD

I was looking at that one also, pretty impressive Sectional weight class. Might come down to strength of schedule who’s been tested this year on who moves on.

Call me a homer..... but the whole Avon sectional is stupid good. You have a bunch of huge schools and a few studs from smaller schools (smack in the middle of a wrestling hotbed). The talent pool (total population of the schools involved) is double than many of the other sectionals. State title contenders in every weight class (multiple contenders in many classes). Gonna be tough for years.

You have sectionals like the ones listed above, then some that only have 4 kids in a weight class and all kids advance to the regional. Amazes me every year.

Then there are sectionals where only the first seed has a winning record and everyone else in the sectional at that weight doesn't. Not naming any sectional or weight, but this is from one of the sectionals this year. They're in order of seed. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me

1.) 27-5

2.) 8-14

3.) 10-17

4.) 10-18

5.) 4-20

6.) 9-14

7.) Forfeit

8.) Forfeit

10.) Forfeit

it makes total sense that the toughest sectionals and regionals are located near or around the top academies in the state.  I would expect the same for up in the region and down in Evansville as well.  Our kids just do not understand how good they have it with the convenience of having a Contenders or RC in their back yard.   #TheCounty

Agree, this is an unfortunate problem, & if there is an idea, solution, to fix it , then we should get working on it.

Not sure why you singled out this sectional for your guess. Last year there were at least 5 state qualifiers from the sectional, including a runner-up finish.

Here's some of the records at Tri.

106: 38-3, 31-4, 26-6

113: 42-2, 33-2, 33-5, 26-6, 26-9

120: 28-11, 28-2, 21-18, 12-8

126: 39-3, 43-2, 28-5,

132: 38-1, 42-3, 26-9, 25-14

138: 18-4, 42-3, 26-9, 25-14

145: 32-0, 25-10, 27-11, 15-11

152 (weakest of the group with only four wrestlers): 30-7, 32-9

160: 29-4, 31-9, 23-7, 24-12

170: 34-8, 31-2, 26-9

182: 12-0, 36-5, 32-11, 16-10

195: 36-5, 30-5, 32-11, 16-11

220: 34-3, 30-6, 15-7, 11-5

Hvy: 34-1, 25-7, 30-10, 25-13

Having less than 7 qualifiers means you are a below average sectional.

I get wanting to defend your sectional. There are a few really good wrestlers at Tri but overall depth clearly places this as a bottom half sectional.

So your lone criteria on sectionals is that it must produce state qualifiers?

What’s more prestigious?

sectional with 25 semi state qualifiers and 2 state qualifiers.

Or

sectional with 9 semi state qualifiers and 6 state qualifiers?
