Mount Carmel's Mount Rushmore should be called Mount Weick for their legendary coach Bill Weick. Not many high school coaches are members of the Olympic Team Staff. If I recall, Bill was a coach on every Olympic staff from 1972-1988 and perhaps before that even.

I see Coach Weick quite often, he's at Brother Rice HS, still in the Chicago Catholic League. He's a legend for sure but our current coach John Kading is not so bad either, 4x NCAA D-1 AA at Oklahoma and National Champ. Gable cites Coach Weick as being one of the most influential people for him personally during his career. During the break at the CCL tournament, I gotta a chance to sit down with Weick and you could literally listen to him for hours, he's got stories on top of stories! LOL

I'll take a shot at Mater Dei.

Mike Goebel

Randy Helfrich

Blake Maurer - "modern era"

Chip Elderkin - "Old school era"

I think you would have to have both Goebel and Helfrich.  That leaves only 2 spots.  I think Maurer gets one based on being a 4x state champ.  That last spot could be debated for a long time and there are so many worthy contenders.

Who says your Mt. Rushmore can only have four guys on it?  Maybe MD's is just a little larger than some others.

Possible Prairie Heights faces (no particular order):

Aaron Ramey (state champ and 3rd place)

Travis Barroquillo (3rd place, 5th place and qualifier)

Danny Hamm (5th and 7th)

Toss up here: Mike Levitz (3rd), John Levitz (4th and qualifier)...maybe they could have wrestle-off for it

Many others to choose from, but this is pretty good start

Ah, Jim Blake, yes I believe he did. That was the late 70's, I will ask Todd tonight whether or not he place and if so, what place, as he was good friends with Jim. He came into the room a couple times when I was in high school, the guy was an animal on top. Columbia City is one of the few schools to have multiple placers but never had a state champ
