Three area grapplers compete at Junior National Duals

 

Two Jeffersonville High School wrestlers and one Floyd Central High School grappler traveled to Oklahoma City last weekend to take on the nation?s best wrestlers at the USA Wrestling Junior National Duals.

 

All three competed on both the freestyle and Greco-Roman national teams, as they each participated in 14 grueling matches over a four-day period.

 

Competing from Jeffersonville were Alonzo Shepherd and Elijah Curtley. Shepherd competed at 125 pounds in both Greco-Roman and freestyle. He had a 2-4 record in the 125-pound Greco-Roman division and a 5-3 mark in the 125-pound freestyle class. Curtley posted a 3-3 record in the 215-pound Greco-Roman division and a 2-5 mark in the 215-pound freestyle class.

 

Competing from Floyd Central was Terrence Kennedy. He had a 1-3 record in the 112-pound Greco-Roman class and a 4-4 mark in the 112-pound freestyle division.

 

 

 

Browner wrestles at Disney Duals

 

Jeffersonville High School wrestler Brent Browner competed in the Disney Duals last weekend at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla.

 

Browner, who wrestling for the Columbus East Wrestling Club, finished 7-4 in the meet. He won his first five matches.

 

Browner and the Olympians finished 14th out of 40 teams, as they had a 6-5 record in dual meets.

 

One of the setbacks was a 36-26 loss to national power Cincinnati Moeller. Browner lost a close match to the Ohio state champion during the dual meet.
