Yes they will be open to the public. The Blake Wrestling Training facility is located in Lambert Field House which is right next to Mackey Arena. There will be some very good matches so if you are curious to see our boys get after it make plans to attend.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue wrestling team will get its first taste at live action this weekend, holding its annual preseason wrestle-offs on Saturday at noon in the Blake Wrestling Center in Lambert Fieldhouse. The intrasquad competition will he held with a three-pound allowance at each weight class and will determine the starter at each of the Boilermakers' ten lineup spots for the beginning of the season.

Boilermaker head coach Scott Hinkel and his staff have scheduled as many as 36 bouts for Saturday, consisting of round-robin formats for weights that have three or more wrestlers competing and two-match series for the squad's two weights with just a pair of competitors. "We're excited to see our guys get out on the mats and compete, even if it is just with each other," said Hinkel.

All of Saturday's action will be covered live at the Purdue Wrestling Twitter Page, and a full recap and results of Saturday's action will be posted upon conclusion at PurdueSports.com. The Blake Wrestling Center will be open to the public and admission is free.

The deepest weight classes for the Old Gold and Black sit at 149 and 165 pounds, where we'll see five wrestlers compete in six bouts at 149 and five grapplers contest eight matches at 165. Senior Sam Patacsil and sophomore Tommy Churchard highlight the group at 149 pounds, and are joined in competition by freshmen hopefuls Frankie Porras, Josh Martin and Dustin Schultz. Patacsil remains the early favorite in the group, receiving a sixth-year medical hardship from the NCAA and looking to make the most of the opportunity, coming off an 18-11 record last season, while Churchard looks to make some noise in his first collegiate season at 149.

The entire group of 165-pound grapplers are freshmen, looking to crack the Boilermakers' starting lineup in their first year of collegiate competition. As the lone redshirt freshman of the group, Kyle Mosier has the most experience, but rookies Ethan Smith and Patrick Kissel are the early favorites, and their matchup Saturday should be highly anticipated by the Boilermaker coaches, wrestlers and fans. Smith and Kissel both have a pair of high school state titles to their credit and look to become the second true freshman in as many years to start for the Old Gold and Black. Freshmen Ryan Stahl and Austin Kunze will be in the mix as well, anxious for their first tastes of college wrestling.

Other interesting bouts for the weekend exist at 125, 133 and 141 pounds, where a wealth of talent and experience lie for the Boilermakers. Sophomore Cashé Quiroga and freshmen Camden Eppert and Brandon Nelsen will square off at 125, pitting two of 2009's top lightweight recruits in the country against each other in Quiroga and Eppert, and tossing in Quiroga's former high school teammate and a 2010 Indiana State High School Champion in Nelsen. A trio of redshirt juniors are set for battle at 133 pounds with Jake Fleckenstein, Matt Fields and Bill Putman, while returning NCAA qualifiers Juan Archuleta and Akif Eren will wrestle twice at 141 pounds. Another anticipated contest comes at 184 pounds, where Purdue will see the return of redshirt junior A.J. Kissel against local high school product Braden Atwood.
