  1. Wondering about the status of New Castle this year... I know last year was a down year for numbers and they struggled. Usually a powerhouse in their area. Haven’t won the sectional in the last three years. Heard they have a full squad this year with Gary Black taking over. Anyone have a projected lineup for these guys this year? Or know who’s going to be rocking where? They could be dangerous. Especially with Black leading them.
  2. Just a quick note. I didn't create this preview, although i would be proud to call it my own. It was submitted to me anonymously. No joke New Castle 2018: As usual New Castle has some brutal match ups of top dogs as early as the ticket round with ranked opponents galore. 106 Ranked wrestlers: #3 Logan Bailey Cathedral #5 Alex Cottey PM #14 Jacob Simone HSE #17 David Pierson WC #18 Harrison Hadley Lapel Potential matchups #14 Simone HSE vs #17 Pierson WC Ticket Round. This is a rematch from John H
  3. We will be joined by Mike Reiser and the enigma @Dingo Brigade, tune in to see where Dingo's mobile office is this year.
  4. 106 Six state-ranked competitors will do battle in the opening weight, including #2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The other ranked wrestler is Al Smith champ, #12 Gabe Smith of Lawrence Central. Smith will have to find a way to get past #5 Brayden Lowery of PM to punch his ticket. Perhaps even nastier is the bottom portion of the bracket, where #6 Logan Bailey of Cathedral and #2 Seth Johnson of North Montgomery should meet in the ticket round. #3 Brendan Mattingly of Carmel and #4 Andrew Black of Shenandoah have slightly less brutal potential paths to the state finals. This is one of the most loaded we
  5. New Castle 2017: New blood at the top Another grind of a regular season in central Indiana is in the record books, and 224 state-hopefuls will compete for coveted Golden Tickets in the Trojan Horse Thunderdome that is Chrysler Arena. Last year's team champs, Warren Central, will almost certainly be dethroned by one of the following teams: Carmel, Cathedral or Perry Meridian, who brings a semistate-high 12 athletes to the mat on Saturday. That number is 12 and not 13 due to the gruesome injury sustained by returning state placer Sammy Fair. The Falcons are still loaded and, along with the I

  7. I would like to be the first one to bring this to the attention of the IHSAA, and the wrestling community as a whole. New Castle did not have Jack's doughnuts in the hospitality room this year. It is one thing to mess with the integrity of the wrestling that goes on there, but it is a much deeper issue to deprive the coaches of such deep fried goodness with the best thick rich icing known to man. I would like a full investigation on this and would appreciate an explanation! WE WANT ANSWERS! I know I'm not alone on this hot topic issue and we did fight through and have a successful day but
  8. New Castle: The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat A long, grinding season has transpired, leading a horde of battle-tested young men into the historic New Castle Chrysler Fieldhouse for what promises to be a very exciting (and stressful) day of competition. Not joining us are some of last year's non-graduated standouts, like Jake Ruberg (#5 pre-season) of Lawrenceburg (injury), Bryant White (#10 pre-season) of Anderson (concentration on football?), Chatard's (pre-season #5) Noah Schrader (top-50 in the country in rugby), Trevor Lonneman (ticket-rounder last year) of Milan (injury)
  9. Brought to you by EI Sports By JEREMY HINES jerhines@cinergymetro.net NEW CASTLE — A lot has changed in the world since Rex Peckinpaugh began coaching wrestling at New Castle High School. Michael Jackson was the big hit on the radio when Peckinpaugh started out. Ronald Reagan was President. Microsoft introduced the world to MS-DOS, the 3M company started mass producing Post-it notes and MTV first went on the air. One thing that hasn’t changed for Peckinpaugh, now in his 34th season at the helm of the Trojan team, is his ability to win. Peckinpaugh reached his 900th dual
