  1. Can homeschool families "choose" not to pay the portion of their taxes that goes to public school funding? I don't think so....until then they should be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities provided by these schools
  2. You represent and write about all that is good in wrestling.....wahoo
  3. New Castle gets a lot of matches in! When was their last state champion? [Reminds me of Roncalli a little bit...lots of great wrestlers (Ryan Schoettle and brothers, Matt Hickey, Mark Koers, Huser brothers, Nick Himes, Wiley Craft, Jake Blackwell, Kieffers, etc.) but can't remember their last state champion. Anyone remember Ryan Schoettle vs. Mac Taylor at New Castle semi-state semifinals? Classic match.] Any of the Kieffers closing in on 200?
  4. Nice job on New Castle rankings this year! Rankings vs results are very accurate.
  5. It didn't make sense to me either AJ. I didn't understand the headgear getting thrown into the stands after the match either. I didn't expect that from Mishawaka kid. I guess he got caught up in the moment.
  6. Great message Mr. Salinas. Thanks for posting.
  7. Good point C oach. Congratulations Sean on doing something amazing that 99.999% of the people posting on this board could not. Maybe that's where the animosity comes from. And at least you didn't break dance!
  8. Lovely young lady with a passion for singing. I love the singing of our National Anthem prior to sporting events. It always give me some "perspective". In my mind, I picture scenes from "Saving Private Ryan" or "We Were Soldiers" and I think how blessed I am to live in the United States of America. A country where brave men go in to battle and do not always come back so that I may enjoy freedom. Freedoms like wrestling and raising a family. God Bless America and God Bless our troops.
  9. IN MAT GUY- I was thinking the same thing!
  10. While we would all like to see a " fun" 17-13 match score in every weight it is unrealistic and unfair to expect it. The finals are usually between 2 evenly matched wrestlers and often result in close (and sometimes low) scores. You have to keep in mind that these individuals have trained the better parts of their lives to reach this match and are cautious not to make a mistake that will cost them a title. Soup- I don't know if you ever wrestled under the lights but if you did I would bet you were more concerned with winning the match than you were about putting on a "fun" match for the spectators. I never won a title but I would have gladly taken one in "boring" fashion. However, I do understand your desire to want an "instant classic" in every other weight but, like I said it is unrealistic. I enjoyed the 112 pound final. I thought it was a great match between two great wrestlers and did not think it deserved any more stalling calls (than were already given). Beck is a strong young man who had a strategy to win a state title and I respect the kids talent and strategy alike. Ayersman is a tough kid who had his own strategy. I don't think we should knock the kids just because there were not a lot of points scored...just let em wrestle their own styles (even if they are conservative) because they earned the right to compete for a state title under the lights.
  11. Keep your head up Tyler. You made your school and your family proud. Valiant effort in the finals too against one of the states finest. I look forward to watching you take your place on the top of the podium soon. Hopefully this will be a distant memory by then!
  12. I was going to mention Faurote too. Its a shame that those of us in the Indy area (who haven't had a chance to see him wrestle) couldn't watch him at Conseco. It appears that he definitely belonged there. Did he wrestle Hiestand this year? If so, how did he do?
  13. I watched Josh wrestle at Perry Regional and also at the State meet. He is a very impressive wrestler and I also look forward to watching him the next three years. Congratulations Josh on a great season!
  14. I want to congratulate the Kieffer Boys on an outstanding season. It has been a pleasure to watch you gentlemen on and off the mat. All three of you are great representatives for your school and the Southside community. You should be very proud!
  15. I always thought "In the Air Tonight" would be a great song to play prior to the Finals. I think I like Phil Collins version better than Nonpoint though.
  16. McMurray is a juggernaut. Didn't he beat the #1 guy in the nation?
  17. Looks like he and Tsirtis are on a collision-course. Hope it's in the finals
  18. Hey Zach, I think you can find them at broadcastsport.net
  19. Congratulations on a good season young man. Classy of you to post this message. Indy Wrestling Fan
  20. Thanks for the updates. I guess thats why your "the man"
  21. controversial call or what? (Kief match)
  22. Good Luck Sara. Maybe my wife will let me sign my daughter up after we watch you wrestle at Conseco! In regards to other states-- I watched Craig Macke wrestle a female state place winner from Michigan at the Scholastic Duals in Battle Creek, MI. She was tougher than nails and gave Macke, an outstanding Indiana wrestler, all that he wanted.
  23. And Number 3, it was never exciting in terms of "who's going to win this match?" It was just agonizing in terms of "which of these two amazing wrestlers do we not get to see where he belongs--under the lights at Conseco?" Agonizing is the perfect word! This could have easily been a State Final match as you mentioned. A couple more great "ticket round" matches that took place at Seymour were #1Greg Wead (Memorial) vs. Andy Wilson (Monrovia)...Wilson Wins and #1 Bo Henry Bl. North) vs. Mark Koers (Roncalli)...Koers wins.
