  1. Wouldn't it have been easier to just go to a neighboring, rival high school where he could be a starter? /s
  2. I guess I wasn't tracking the Hendricks County tournament no longer existed. I can see the argument against it. Just a fond memory, I suppose. Wild to think there was a time and place where all the Hendricks County schools were matched up in football for a "Day at the Dome" in the 90's.
  3. Great to see a kid put a Gold on the mantle. In a time where many Avon families have drifted north... happy to see the crew stay put.
  4. Both finals losses coming to JD Naig from UNO
  5. "Mike, why'd your parents name you Michael Jackson?" "There's 8 of us kids, they named us without thinking about it." Mike Jackson did things in college wrestling that left you with your jaw on the floor.
  6. 100% polyester is about as comfortable as it sounds.
  7. Been there, done this. Only real option to decrease pain brought on by movement. Dropped a 135lb barbell across my toe doing bent over rows the day before a County dual. THE County dual. Similar, but different, I also dealt with turf toe in college. It can be taped, but is still very painful. I ended up switching my stance as to not have my left foot be my rear foot. Lead to a bit of versatility in my offense. Other than that, grit'cher teeth and give it hell.
  8. Indiana transplant living here in VB. My Indy 500 trip got cank'd, so I might try and head down to watch some kids scrap. I'll keep an eye out for Indiana teams and any 2000-2010 era wrasslers!
  9. Half cows? Shiiiit, you could throw some Tombstone pizzas and PB&J's at a teen for a caloric surplus and it'll do the trick.
  10. Let's take a sec to recognize being down 100lbs! Nice work!
  11. Like others have said, I was 13 when I first heard his voice; dreamed and trained my ass off to have him say it over the PA. I'll selfishly say my own name was my favorite he ever introduced and announced. When it came time to name my boy, you best bet I made sure it's one that would have boomed over the speakers by a voice like Mr. Whitehead's. To "The best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be." Thank you Mr. Whitehead.
  12. I could be wrong but I felt they were referencing a 4x'er going on to Ohio State. That's how I understood it.
  13. That's Mr. BeechGrove you're talkin about!
  14. Went from an undersized 215 as a sophomore to cutting to make 215 as a senior. Wrestled Heavyweight in college. Still 235-240 and gas station ready.
  15. Going strong since early 2000's. Warm ups used to be the exact same as well.
  16. Track's Twitter feed shows the post pin-call angle well. As Asa rolls out it would appear that Viduya could have only had 1 side down. Moral of the story, don't get cradled.
  17. Made me think last night, how many state champs in recent years (10ish) were non AAU/freestyle wrestlers? With HS athletes becoming more single sport athletes, who are some champs that never wrestled out of season?
  18. Only if you're from Da Islands
  19. Bo obviously has the upper hand with Myles but as far as anyone else in the country with the ability and experience to beat Bo Nickal it's pretty much Martin.
  20. Advantage Bo but MM is the only person that has ever really had his number. I don't see 285 as a guarantee, let alone bonus for the Bucks.
  21. ...and for God's sake can we get Quint Kessenich to stop interviewing people during matches, or at all for that matter.
  22. Definitely thought Zain would push for bonus points, perhaps the thought of losing his final college match was there. Nolf says he can turn anybody in the country, let's see...
  23. that's a great analysis, all great points that I saw during the 3 days of wrestling. definitely less action on the feet and i feel it's due to the head/hands defense and wariness of the reshot.
  24. People "saving" seats really can't do anything to stop you from taking that seat....just go for it.
