  1. all small crowds and little to no revenue...
  2. Mike, you guys run an awesome board. I agree with your non-censorship posture. Shade is cast on DogPound, not CP. As is a long tradition on Indiana Mat, chest-beaters are susceptible to a verbal beat-down. This board does a great job of self-regulation. A few years ago, a certain freshman from Hobart had a coach who would not/could not stop beating the drum. It took the boy's mother to come on the board and call him out to end the madness. "Adult" egos writing checks for kids to cash is always a head scratcher. Let DogPound take his medicine.
  3. I know that some stat hound has the breakdown!
  4. Funny thing happened this morning. i was behind the Ford Center this morning noticed a BRINKS TRUCK AND HAD A CHAT WITH THE DRIVER. For security purposes, he could not tell me his exact destination. He told he was going to "The Degion". i think that is code for another word. He expected to arrive early, because he was not going to be compelled to re-fuel. i asked him, "why"? "Light load".
  5. Stipulated Crown Point has been on a different level, the entire season CP has a bright yesterday, today and future. Question- What happened? i discount big stage, jitters, etcetera. Part of what makes this team great is regular participation in high stakes matches. Fact- Their kids were not crisp; some looked sluggish and tired. Two theories: A bug passed around the team After five weeks of a weak conference tournament, followed by complete dominance in weak sectional, regionals and semi state; the Bulldogs lost their edge and got soft. The opposite scenario existed for CG, Avon and BB. Look at the countenance and performance of their kids.
  6. Finals Tickets: Section 106, two seat together 10th row, on the edge of mat 3 $50 for the pair 812.760.4773
  7. Final session: 2 tickets together in section 106 Great seats in the 10th row, on the edge of mat 3 $50 for the pair Text me at 812.760.4773
  8. Thank you, Chambers! I guess that settles it. Tip of the hat to B'Burg. Precious few coaches take the high road in that situation.
  9. Regarding the DQ/MFF in the Henderson/Haines match... It seems like there must be more to it. Had a team race been a stake, a voluntary MFF could swing a championship. It does not seem like a ref can overturn his own call, just because a coach approves of it.
  10. horrifying to see. i'm glad he is okay.
  11. Mattyb What is the calculus? Snyder thought that the referee got it wrong and MDF'd? Or, knew that Preston would not be able to wrestle again in a week?
  12. This has been going on in the region for 25+ years. The younger brother goes to different school from big brother, while the third brother goes to yet another school. It just makes sense. Barring any academic difference, why would a sentient parent send a kid to a school where his shot of excellence is diminished? Brownsburg and Center Grove are strong on academics, have great communities and...wait for it...top-notch wrestling programs. What's not to like? if you have a kid who has a chance at reaching for the golden ring, you have to justify NOT sending them there. It's a bit tougher in Evansville. if you want excellence you pay a price for it, beyond the blood and sweat. It's called tuition. In spite of what you might hear, a Catholic school "athletic scholarship" exists only in imaginations. It's kind of like the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus or "The Man"; fun to think about or to justify outcomes, but it doesn't really exist. While Center Grove, Crown Point and Brownsburg have specific and identifiable advantages, they do not enjoy a permanent hegemony. All three programs have high level wrestling academies to feed their schools, which are led by superior coaching staffs. All it takes is a single coaching turnover and your incoming middle school champion is off to greener pastures. What do the Big Three have in common? Large populaton bases with affluent communties is the first ingredient; next-level wrestling academies is the second. Where else could this exist? 1. North Indianapolis/Carmel/ Zionsville- Big population, affluence, big schools. Wrestling academy, communities? 2. Jeffersonville/New Albany- Big population (Louisville metro is massive; quality wreslers exist). Affluence, community, academies--not sure. 3. Fort Wayne- Big population, check. Affluence, community, academies, quality high school coaching staffs--not sure.
  13. never heard of any of them. paleolithic era?
  14. The place went bonkers. After the handshakes, Joe ran of the mat. Nick mat the mistake of being in his path, expecting to give little brother a bear hug. Joe ran the hell over him and did not stop. Nick, I hope you learned something...
  15. Fireworks in Paradise! No respect afforded for fourth-ranked Brady Byrd’s undefeated record by Mater Dei Sophomore, David Aldstadt. Altstadt scored a second period escape and takedown that held up for a 4-2 win. This win (and loss) could have serious implications for the semi state draw. Not to be outdone, Boonville’s Wyatt Ulrey scored the second-biggest upset of the day with a 10-3 decision of MD’s Caleb Schaefer. Yet another freshman—Gibson Southern’s Deacon Dressler—took top honors in the balanced 144-pound division. Highly anticipated was the 150-pound bracket. The top of the board produced a semifinal where Heritage Hills’ Alex Smith pinned North’s Cale Bonenberger for the right to face MD’s Tyler Vanover at the center mat. Smith drew first blood; Vanover got a second period turn for the fall. At 157, Mt. Vernon’s Colton Schneider reversed his fortunes from the sectional, scoring a second period fall over North’s Peyton Bell. Who respected 175-pound Boonville freshman Sam Howard’s 48-0 record? I am quite sure Howard had his doubters, but at the end of the day, the Pioneer was at the top of the podium. Three more years of this guy! Heritage Hills ended their regional on a happy note. The final three weight classes were claimed by Patriots Jett Goldsberry, Parker Hart, and Hayden Smith. The trio punctuated their championships with falls. If you are an HH fan there is more good news: two are Sophomores and one is a Junior. Take Me Down to the Paradise Pin City*- Of the 112 matches, 70 ended in a fall. Those poor zebras have sore palms… Ain’t got time to bleed- Mater Dei’s Ty Henderson must have scheduled an early date. The junior only spent 2:12 on the mat en route to his title. Training partner, Isaiah Schaefer, was not far behind him. The top-ranked Schaefer scored a fall and a pair of tech falls. Teammate Tyler Vanover joined Henderson’s club counting three falls and 4:12 on the Resilite. Colton Schnieder wants in! The MTV junior also chalked up three pins. Parker Hart and Hayden Smith rounded out the group of adject domination, each adding three falls to their respective records. To quote my good friend, WrestleMan: “It was dominate.” Dominate, indeed. Sectional round-up- Bad day for the Castle sectional as only 20 will advance to the semi state. At the high end of the spectrum, the Castle sectional had a better day, claiming half of the available titles. Teams- MD comes out on top with four champions while advancing 12 to semi state. Heritage Hills finishes second, with three gold medalists and advancing seven to the Ford Center. RIP Carl “Apollo Creed” Weathers, one of the greatest nuanced semi-villain-turned-good-guys in cinematic history: "Stallion, we are born with a killer instinct that can't be turned off like a radio. We have to be right in the middle of the action because we are the warriors. Without some challenge, some war to fight, the warrior may as well be dead." *Apologies to GNR
