  1. Didn't see the last couple of matches but here's what I recall from the finals. Champs 106: Brown © 113: Baehl (GS) 120: Welch © 126: Coomer ( (pretty sure he won) 132: Allen ( 138: McDaniels ( 145: Singleton (GS) 152: Not certain...I think HH won 160: Oser (HH) 170: Warren © 182: Konerding (HH) 195: Halbig (P) 220: ?? 285: ??
  2. I would guess Heritage Hills or Castle.
  3. I saw the preview too and it looks pretty good. I noticed the kid who plays the wrestler had some skills and now I know why thanks to Drooke.
  4. My bad, not sure why I was thinking he was a Jr. I can certainly understand the added frustration then. I know it's a small consolation but at least he still has team state left. I'm not a MD grad but I will be rooting for them to bring home another title. Good luck to ALL Southern Indiana wrestlers this weekend.
  5. Are you serious?? To make these comments on a public forum about a high school kid who worked his butt off for 4 years just shows you have no class. As stated above, he earned his way when the opportunity presented itself. He still had to beat a #1 seed then win his next match, which he did, to get there. What does Sectionals have to do with anything? Timmy won the PAC the week before (which the TC kid was part of) so should that be factored in too....of course not. The only way to know for sure is to do wrestlebacks at Regionals and we all know that isn't happening any time soon. I have heard nothing but good things about Zach Henderson and I feel for him but that's the unfortunate thing about how these things work out. He'll be back next year.
  6. What a classy kid. Guess who the first person was to congratulate Tim Dunkel on qualifying for state when he entered the tunnel..........none other than Mr. Moody. Got to talk with him later in the day. Great kid and hope to see him wrestling under the lights next Saturday. Good luck to all Southern Indiana wrestlers this weekend. I will be rooting for them ALL and hope they bring back a lot of hardware this weekend.
  7. Castro got beat 6-2 by Tim Dunkel from Gibson Southern.
  8. Wrong........it will be Dunkel from GS taking Oakley's spot. I feel bad for the kid as I know they tried to see if would be better by the weekend.
  9. Were you at BWW with Jon H when you made those...........LOL (see his original post). Will be some good matches for sure. Looks like we should luck out with all the nasty weather missing us and all the school closings up north.
  10. I would give my vote to John Boes of Princeton.....runner-up in 89 and 90 at 171....he was a beast.
  11. Hey Nostradamus, didn't you predict Singleton would finish 4th earlier in this thread? The great thing is this will get decided on the mat Saturday and not in a forum.
  12. That's funny. You guys need to quit making excuses and just accept the fact you didn't win. I overheard someone from HH today making excuses about last weekend. Last time I checked there are more than 5 weight classes on a team so just having 5 champs doesn't mean you win. GS had 7 kids in the finals and the others did their part to get the team win. There was only a 5 point difference today between GS and HH so that should tell you it was no fluke. Hats off to Castle today, they were the best team and they proved it. Good luck to them in the team Regional.
  13. I know Princeton's dual with Jasper last week was cancelled and not made up. Might be worth a call to their AD or head coach (Clay Leek).
  14. According to the local paper Griesemer only moved up for the Big 8 Tournament thinking it would help the team and said he would be back at 125 for sectionals. I like Hayden Baehl at 103 and Daniel Hipp at 112 both from Gibson Southern. I think there will be a couple of surprises. Should be some good wrestling.
  15. Sims is actually a Junior and a 3-time state placer so he will be back next year. I think he could have finished higher than 5th this year but had a tough draw in the quarterfinals. Boots looked great and deserves all of the credit. No one lucks into wins at state and he was one win away from wrestling under the lights. I know there is no love lost with MD and other schools around the area but I agree when you hit Semi-State and State I root for all of our Southern Indiana kids...............and I'm not from MD. I know lots of people who wrestled there and I know they will be back. You have to give credit to Castle, Reitz, etc as the other Southern Indiana schools have stepped up their programs. I'm not sure if any one school will dominate for such a long time like MD once did.
  16. Having seen Drake wrestle alot the last couple of years he didn't look like his normal self in his 2 matches today. Could have been nerves but he saved his best match for last. That's the takedown specialist I'm used to seeing. Congrats to all the Southern Indiana wrestlers today. Wish there would have been a few more in the finals but overall they did well. Congrats to Coach Maglis as well. Jimmy's a great guy and I'm glad to see him and Drake rebound after last year. I'm sure they are both living it up tonight.
  17. Jeff Weiss at 171 from Heritage Hills. Only losses are to Stein and has beaten Stein twice this year. I've seen these two wrestle 8+ times over the last 2 years and Weiss is strong and will be a tough opponent for anyone. I won't be shocked at all if he wins it all. He's the real deal.
  18. I certainly didn't intend for my response to suggest Duckworth would take Stein or Weiss lightly. My comments were directed at others and their predictions for state. He's a State Champion and that is something you don't accomplish by taking anyone for granted. I have talked to Stein and Weiss and both are very nice kids and I wish them them the best of luck this weekend. I'd love to see them both wrestling under the lights with the State Championship on the line. It won't be an easy road for whomever wins this weight class and they will certainly have earned it the hard way. If Duckworth prevails he most likely will have beaten both Weiss and Stein on his way to another title and that would be very impressive in my books. Good luck to this young man as well.
  19. x2 Duckworth certainly deserves the respect of a defending champion but I would not take Stein or Weiss lightly. Can't wait to see how this one plays out.
  20. Glad you guys remember our stud State Champ DJ. As a former GS wrestler myself it was awesome seeing DJ pinning everyone en route to an undefeated State Championship. He was a beast that weekend and did pin every opponent. Coach B. (twigt) will be able to confirm if DJ pinned every foe from Sectional thru the State Finals but my $$ says he did. DJ was a very nice kid and I saw him last year and he's still huge. He was awesome to watch wrestle.
  21. Chad looked very impressive at SS and he will be wrestling under the lights this Saturday and Doug should be too. Having seen these two wrestle a few times last year and a few times this year they really stepped it up. Good luck to both and ALL Southern Indiana wrestlers this weekend.
  22. How do you have Boots over Stein after Stein dominated him at Regional? It will be Weiss and Stein for the 3rd Saturday in a row. Boots it good but he's just not at the same level as Stein and Weiss.
  23. BB145.....I really appreciate the updates you provided today. I was at Castle for the first round but had to leave so your updates were great.
  24. I thought the same thing GS171.........even though Dunkel lost to Welch at 112 in the sectional finals the score was much closer than the Welch v Goebel match last night and Dunkel has been solid all year. I think too many people overlook some very good area wrestlers who aren't from an SIAC school but I can understand why because the SIAC does have a lot of very talented wrestlers who will be wrestling for state championships. Irregardless, we will find out Saturday. I know all too well some wrestlers just match up better against others in the same weight class. Good luck to all Saturday.
  25. Congrats to the Castle Knights!!! They have a very solid team and hope you guys win it all.
