  1. Indiana boys wrestled well. I have put teams together for a very long time. This is by far the toughest dual tournament I have been a part of. We competed against all star teams. We were the only team in tournament that were  solely from one state. Got a lot of good looks for these young men. I would like to thank all those that helped us make this work!

Bryan Bailey (Martinsville) vs. Toby Turner (Monrovia) late 1980's/Early 1990's

Correct Coach Wadkins!  The year was 1991. We wrestled in dual, sectional, regional, semi state and state. The year before Jamie Murray and I did same thing. As a wrestler I hated wrestling these two tough dudes week after week!  Our “five” team sectional was pretty tough back in those days as I only had one sectional title. Great memories!

That's correct.  Both 8th graders now.  Jordyn, a little heavier won the KY 106 lb Title last year.

Both won in the final, Jayden with an 11-2 major over Schaefer and Jordyn with a 4-0 win over Evan Seng.

I do not know rule but can 8th graders compete in high school tournaments in Indiana. If so, why doesn’t some Indiana schools have 8th graders on their roster?  Might help to fill some lower weight classes. Not trying to cause an issue but as I understood it we couldn’t have 8th graders competing in High school events. Just curious🤷🏽‍♂️

    What was the 1-1-1 format?

The 1-1-1 format was like another match. No sudden death or so on. At the end of first 1 they’d flip the disk and you’d go from there. I believe there was only one year where they had referees decision which was in fact 1990. I lost in sectional finals that year on a referees decision. Score was tied at the end of OT. Some sort of criteria was involved. Not sure on exact criteria.

  5. Generally, I hate to see any negative posts about our sport. However, I have heard alarming news (parents from the team)that a HS coach had access to change the “alpha weights” (IHSAA certification)and did so for his kids. First of all, why do coaches have access to this? (I thought it was an AD thing). Secondly, if our system is foolproof why does this happen?  In late 80’s and early 90’s our sport suffered losses due to improper weight management. I hope this isn’t true but needs to be addressed if it occurred. Please enlighten me with knowledge about this.

  6. Wrestle “A” is on his back in a cradle. Official is already holding three near fall. Wrestler “A” then pulls fingers illegally. Official does not stop match until end of period. How is that scored?
