  1. The pictures were a wonderful addition to the state tournament!! It would be GREAT to see them at all of the state tournaments, I would definitely be in favor of them coming back.
  2. This sounds like it has some good and bad aspects. As far as seeding and trackwrestling goes, this would be extremely difficult to do...for the kids that don't live in the middle of the state or up North, many of the sanctioned tournaments that are held in the lower part of the state aren't ran through trackwrestling, therefore the kids that attend these tourneys may not be ranked very high in trackwrestling-- though may be high caliber wrestlers. An example of some of these kids are the kids in the Mater Dei program, many of those kids wrestle that city circuit all year long and aren't in the trackwrestling system until you see them at State, and they are always competitive. One suggestion is if tournaments were required to turn in the results of their brackets to the iswa following their tournaments. This would require much more work on both the tournament director and the iswa's part, but may help if we wish to seed the kids. Lots to think about to say the least!!
  3. Great Job Josiah!! It is so awesome to see these kids grow from year to year...keep up the hard work!
  4. We did realize that during the tournament it was limited.....just curious about meets before conference, with both conference and non conference teams. Thanks!
  5. The Tell City Wrestling Club would like to thank everyone who came out to our tournament today. We had nearly 500 wrestlers......thank you for the support--saw some GREAT matches today. Congratulations the top 3 placers in the Team Competition...great job guys!! Mater Dei--1st Place Paws Elite--2nd Place Southridge Wrestling Crew--3rd Place Good Luck to everyone at State next weekend!
  6. I am just curious if anyone knows...or if you know where we could get the answer: In junior high/middle school wrestling, if a weight class is not filled , may you pull up 5th graders to fill those positions? I know this is done in Kentucky, but did not know if anyone knew the ruling in Indiana/PAC regulations?
  7. I agree and it is understood that they are new at running a tournament, and yes hopefully they will learn from their mistakes. That being said, here are just a few suggestions: 1. If you have rules in place regarding registration and deadlines, you should stick to them. They are there to make things run smoothly. Don't give in to those that did not abide by the rules.... and make the 500 people who did suffer because of it. 2. The splitting up of brackets was also a bit 'overdone'. I can understand splitting them into an A and B, but to have 5 brackets for one age division and wt division was a bit much, BUT... 3. IF you have to split brackets.....please take into consideration that some clubs drive 2-3 hours to be able to compete. We do not do this so that we will be paired with another one of our own kids. I saw this all day yesterday, our club was not alone. I understand that sometimes it is unavoidable...but we had 6 of our own kids wrestling each other 1st round--and there were 4 other brackets that they could have been split into. This is extremely disappointing. When we asked that they be re-paired, the request was denied. #3 is the biggest complaint that our club had. It is not only disappointing to the parents, but the kids are so disheartened by this. When you are a PeeWee and have to wrestle your best friend at your first match of the day, you can't help but be a bit upset. It is extremely unfair to the children, and very easily fixed during pairings. Start on time, accomodate your wrestlers, and things will run smoothly. These are just suggestions, not trying to judge.
  8. Our Deepest Sympathy.....This is such a shock. We will keep the entire Jasper Wrestling Family in our thoughts and prayers, especially her husband and sons. Kelly was such a wonderful lady, she will certainly be missed by all. The Tell City Wrestling Club
  9. Satellite weigh ins have both positive and negative aspects, yes...as do about every other option. The one thing that is most important and that should always be the focus is the kids. These kids do not have fun sitting in a gym for 4 hours waiting on a tournament go get paired...our kids have done it time and time again, we've had parents leave, kids get tired, bored, etc.... We live in a more rural area, about 2.5-3 hours from Indy, so when we wrestle, we travel regardless. So, to have to travel and then sit and wait for hours is really hard on these kids. When you go to a tournament and the brackets are posted, the child knows what mat they are on, who they are wrestling, their match numbers...like at Franklin, Tell City, Jasper, just to name a few--this type of organization takes so much stress off of the kids (and the parents). Now, that being said, there are issues with those who may fib on faxed weights--this is a given. My views on this are......they are primarily hurting themselves, because they will not be able to do this at State Finals, and that is when it counts. Yes, it is unfair to the kids that they wrestle at weekly tournaments...but all in all, I would like to think the majority of people are honest...and we need to teach our kids that we use accurate wts. ISWA cannot fix the flaws of every tournament.......I personally think things have came a very long way and that they do a great job, the best that they can.
  10. Great Job Indiana!!!! Does anybody know when the results page may be updated?
  11. Kinda off the subject, but...... I'm just glad I don't live in Evensville.....How'd you like to have Pee-Wee, Bantam, & SchoolBoy kids, or be there coaches at state time?? Pee-wee on Saturday, Bantam on Sunday, & Schoolboy the next weekend......(even further north in Huntington) .......That SURELY can be fixed!! In response to the above quote: Trust me.....I live 45 minutes from Evansville, and it is tough, we coach also, and we spend a tremendous amount of time and money on the road during season. We don't have the ability to wrestle in the off-season d/t proximity.....our kids travel for pretty much 7 months during regular season, all year would be entirely too much for the little guys!! We travel alot, but if we want the competition, we almost have to---it's just part of it. GOTTA LOVE IT!
  12. This is alot to take in, but I will comment on a few of the topics: I am not at all familiar with other states and how they do their medals--but I think it is generous of the ISWA to give out medals to the top 8 finishers. This may be the difference with Indiana and others, most tournaments only medal out the top 3---again, not sure about other states..... I see nothing wrong with the quality of the medals, they DO state that they are an ISWA state event,--at least the ones my son has do. They seem to be very good quality also. I see nothing wrong with them. I do agree with some of the officiating at Freestyle state. I also understand that these are volunteers, as is the table help. With that being said, I too, would pay an extra $1.00, if that's what it would take to get qualified officials. Children ifficiating at a state level tournament are not a great idea...it breeds angry parents, nervous kids, and kids that may have one day been good refs being ran off for being yelled at. There were some very questionable matches/calls at Freestyle state, but I also think that Freestyle opens up alot of room for interpretation and judgement on the refs part. It's not near as cut and dry and Folkstyle wrestling----in my opinion. As much as people have to say about how great ISWA is, or how poor they believe things are ran------I'd say that if we want to make things better, we all need to GET INVOLVED. I saw and heard numerous complaints last weekend about different things, but the majority of those complaints were coming from people who were not willing to volunteer to help. We are all here for the same reason---to support our kids and the wrestling program in Indiana. This takes us all, not simply the Board at the ISWA, as clubs, we are a part of this program. If we want change, we need to go about it in a constructive manner, go to meetings, voice our opinions in the correct forum, etc.
  13. I would just like to say how proud I am of all of the great athletes that competed at State this weekend. I saw so many kids with a tremendous amount of class. Specifically, I'd like to congratulate both Demi Allen and Aiden Warren in the Bantam 50 class on their efforts today. I personally think this was the best match of the weekend, between 2 incredibly talented kids. They both did a wonderful job, and should be equally proud of themselves. Great Job Kids!!
  14. 1. Demi Allen 2. Aiden Warren 3. Devon Casebolt 4. Isaac Smith 5. Seth Johnson 6. Garrett Stewert 7. Garrett Bowers Trackwrestling just updated the bracket, it was a good day of wrestling, lots of good matches!!
  15. Freestyle state is a tournament that must be qualified for....if your son has placed in the top 4 in any iswa sanctioned freestyle tournament this season, he is automatically qualified, hope this helps!!
