  1. The 215 wrestler for McCutcheon in that tournament was likely Steve Turpin, who was a sophomore at the time. He gave up wrestling after that season, but was a helluva football player. Walked on at Purdue in college. That tournament was a meat grinder; I think I also placed 7th that year as a 106 lb. sophomore. I had the shirt from that tournament for the longest time that listed every team on the back.
  2. This contradicts earlier statements about parent involvement. Now you are calling it an incompetant failure of a school system. Which one is it, a bad school or bad parents? These aren't mutually exclusive. The parents of the children in a school system go a long way in determining it's success.
  3. Could someone list all the schools that would be considered in "the region"?
  4. The United States Girls Wrestling Association Indiana State Championships Open is this Sunday at Warren Central High School. Weigh-in is from 7-9am and wrestling starts at 10am.
  5. Does anyone know why he is at Crown Point, whereas his brother wrestled for Griffith?
  6. I say give it to Eppert. We will have 3 more yrs to give it to Tsirtsis.
  7. Even if they did seed the state finals, you couldn't justify putting Duckworth ahead of Grimes, since Grimes just beat him in the semi state the week before. And, I don't think that you would want to put Grimes on the same side as Duckworth since they come from the same semi state. So, even if you seeded the wrestlers for the state finals, it is likely that in this case Duckworth would see Atwood before the finals. The only thing that seeding would help would be to separate semi state champions, which doesn't apply hear.
  8. In 2007, when defending state-runner up Travis Dale, McCutcheon, lost to Shrewsbury when Shrewsbury was a sophomore. This was in the ticket round at Merrillville. I believe that Dale was undefeated at the time.
  9. Has anyone placed 4th in sectionals and placed in state?
  10. Good. That's best for everyone involved. Sorry to hear about Campbell.
  11. Does this mean that the 2 wrestlers scheduled to wrestle for 3rd place in the South Dearborn Sectional might have a little less motivation for their upcoming match? Loser gets a berth to semi-state!
  12. McCutcheon High School 103 - Pat McCarthy - 2x SQ 112 - Marshall Palmer - 5th Place 119 - 125 - 130 - Dan McCarthy - 2x SQ 135 - 145 - 152 - Kyle Osborn - SQ 160 - Phil Denham - SSQ 171 - Jason Rice - 2x SQ 189 - Travis Dale - 2nd Place 215 - David Hinshaw - SQ HWT - Jody Philpott - 6th Place
  13. The Indianapolis Star used the rankings from this website in its blurb of the upcoming MIC conference tournament: http://www.indystar.com/article/20090122/SPORTS0203/901220426/1004/SPORTS Wrestling Saturday's Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference wrestling meet at Lawrence North features three teams ranked in the IndianaMat.com top 20: No. 11 Lawrence North, No. 15 Carmel and No. 17 Center Grove. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m., and admission is $8 for all day and $5 after round two.
