  1. Notre Dame College sponsors 22 varsity intercollegiate scholarship athletic teams. Falcon men?s and women?s teams compete throughout the Great Lakes Region and the nation in a busy schedule, from August through May. Among 53 four-year colleges and universities in the state of Ohio, only Ohio State (33 teams) has more athletic teams than Notre Dame. Falcon student-athletes come to College Road from all around Ohio, the Midwest, the nation, and the globe. In recent years, the Blue & White have earned many successes. Notre Dame student-athletes have attained All-America status on the playing field and Scholar-Athlete honors in the classroom. Falcon teams have garnered multiple conference championships and national championship appearances. Notre Dame Wrestling won NAIA national championships in both 2010 and 2011. In July 2011, Notre Dame was approved for provisional status in the NCAA membership process. Being approved for a provisional year advances Falcon athletic programs one step closer to becoming a full-fledged NCAA Division II member in time for the 2012-13 academic year.NDC initiated application for NCAA membership in 2008 and has since been following a prescribed timeline for full DII membership. Year three in that timeline (2011-12) is known as a Provisional Year, which requires NDC to drop its NAIA membership as it meets all NCAA legislation. In the next academic year (2011-12), the process requires the College to function like a Division II institution. At Notre Dame College, we subscribe to the NCAA Division II philosophy of "Life in the Balance" which emphasizes "a comprehensive program of learning and development in a personal setting." Because of our adherence to these values, athletics at Notre Dame are an integral part of a unified academic and student life experience. As espoused in our Athletics Philosophy Statement, at Notre Dame we work with our student-athletes to help them become competent students, responsible campus citizens and athletes who can compete. The NCAA administers athletic programs for more than 400,000 student-athletes competing in three divisions at over 1,000 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and Central America.
  2. Can't get schollarship money if you transfer within the Big 10 is my guess....It is official, I have an acquantance on the OU Squad that confirmed they (Howe & Rutt) signed last week
  3. I was always partial to: Top Gun Anthem Danger Zone- Kenny Loggins More than a feeling- Boston (all about the guitar solo) Under the Bridge- Red hot Chili Pepppers Heart Shaped Box- Nirvana Pinball Wizard and Baba O'Riley- The Who Kinda dating myself, not that 32 is old but these were all on my warm-up tape (yes, Tape) that never left my walkman in high school.
  4. I couldnt be there but my brother and his daughter were and to hear the pbp from him and watch it online was amazing. Brendens a great kid with a very bright future. Brenden (and Kayla) have inspired my niece to wrestle (already a fan, now wants to lace em up) and become a champion. Thanks Brenden, for being such a good person.
  5. ANy one give thought to the matter that maybe Phillips wanted a #1 right off the bat and he knew his risks, was willing to risk it and knew that by IDF his 3rd pl bout he would guarantee at least a semifinals rematch (barring upsets before hand) with Lecount. I dont know too many 2x State Champs that care too much what pl;ace they get if it isnt the top place. He's not going to the state tournament to medal, he's already done that. He is going to win a state championship and will have to eventually beat Ayersman, Lecount. Crume, etc. a.i. So it's an all or nothing attitude. I love it. As soon as I realized he IDF'd on Saturday and Lecount got his hand raised I thought it was genius on Cody's part. Whether on accident or on purpose. If you ain't first, you're last.
  6. Stacks, Official Match Day Breakfast choice of New Castle Wrestling Coaching staff. Best coffee in town. I reccomend a greek omelette or the Chocolate Chip Pancakes
  7. I actually wrestled in Alaska in High School. The girl that won in 06 is Micheala Hutchisonand she comes from a wrestling family. I wrestled her oldest brother, who was a cadet AA. and 2x State Champ. Also, her older sister placed 3rd at 112 as a senior and fared well on the senior freestyle circuit until she decided to raise a family, and another older brother was a 4x state champ (won his 4th later the same night) and won a Junior Greco National Title. Shes wrestling at Oklahoma City U now and has a great shot at making the olympics. Having coached in Indiana, I would say yes, Indiana is tougher than Alaska. A second girl won last year in Alaska, also at 103. She has traveled to Fargo and does well for herself. The new weights are not too kind to her this year, as she is still 106 and now wrestlin gmuch bigger light(est) weights
  8. Don't know much about Indiana Tech but Brooks, I am sure, knows what is best for him and the direction he would like his career to progress. I am sure he made his decision carefully and weighed several factors and took in advice from many around him. One can assume he may have been dissuaded based on his brothers experience at IU (He has quit, for at least this season...Heres to hoping he returns) to attend a DIvision 1 School.
  9. I met Brenden when he was in 8th grade when I had just left active duty Army and he told me he wanted to be a Navy Seal and go to the Academy. Proud of you Brenden and glad to see you still have your sights set on being THE best. Good luck at USNA, and god bless. And Go Army, Beat Navy
  10. John Rolling was an All American at Central Missouri State in 2001 and 2002 (4th and 7th, respectively). I believe he was a Carmel product
  11. You will always be a Veteran rdrodd1. Maybe a former servicemember, but always a vet. Thanks for your service. I have served overseas in the GWOT as have both of my brothers and my brother in law (who is retired due to injuries sustained in Afghanistan). I certainly hope this young man is able to make a full and complete recovery. I know full well the spoils of war in this respect and it can be a rough and rocky road. God bless the Bowman family and may they find the peace and understanding to deal with this difficult time in their life. Jason R. Richey
  12. Does it really bother you that much that NC gets on the mat that much? Does it bother you to see a kid develop himself not only as a wrestler, but in confidence and character? The only way to get better is to put in the time. How dare Peck put those kids on the mat and not produce. Spare me, RG ur such a jackwagon. I dont know who you are or your credentials (maybe you can enlighten me, since I dont know) but you're obviously past high school yet youre worried about who has more wins than who and how many state titles. You dwell on such topics as "inflated" records because a kid won 200 matches but zero titles. Way to go, way to post on a message board and degrade some one for their passion, compassion and everything they have done for the sport. Youre probably saying, "I didnt think..." Thats just it, you dont think! Youre a jerk and you constantly put your foot in your mouth and your head up your @_ _! I dont post a whole lot on here but you struck a cord with this one. Not every one likes Peck, thats fine, but why dont you practice some of the things your parents, teachers and coaches taught you. Respect, Tact, Humility.
  13. FCF, Soup, don?t listen to that jerk. If you haven't spent time in New Castle's room, or with Peck then you?re talking out your rear. Rex gets the most out of his kids day in and day out. They work their butts off to get where they are. RG puts all of a coaches credibility on records and schedule. Seriously? This is HIGH SCHOOL GUY! A coach isn?t just a coach. Hess much more than that. They are a counselor, a mentor a confidant, even a parental figure. Many coaches go out of their way to make sure these kids have a fighting shot of making something out of themselves. I know one coach that even let a kid move in with him because his folks flaked out on him. He cared for him when no one else did. Spend some time with Rex in his room and you will see how much he cares. He?s tough but fair and expects a lot out of even the most inexperienced kid. Not for them to be the best, but to be THEIR best. And he cares! He has his dream job, teaching and coaching at his high school alma mater. And he?s done it with style. Umpteen NCC and Sectional Championships and several Regional and Semi-State champs. If you view the pinnacle of success as a state championship and over 200+ wins and being on Indiana?s top ten wins list then you seriously set the standard low. What do you know about some of these kids? Do you know Matt Jaggers has continued to develop in the sport, coaches and trains wrestlers and has developed a pretty nice MMA career so far? Must suck to continue to get to do what you love and get paid for it. But he has no state championship Do you know Keith Garrard became an All American in college? And has a fantastic job doing what he enjoys making hand over fist. Sounds pretty successful. But he has no state championship either. Do you know Mac Taylor has a very successful military career going on? Has all kinds of medals, but none of em is a state championship medal. Shame on him. Do you know Brendan Campbell aspires to be a Navy SEAL? Let?s not mention he has only three losses, one to an All American, one to a state champion and one to a state runner-up. Not to mention he is an All American himself. But not a state champ. And Connor, my goodness, could you not meet a nicer kid? He?s dedicated to the sport, a true student of the sport. He has a wonderful family and yes, his world revolves around wrestling. But if he and Brendan don?t win a state championship it was all for not. So let?s blame Peck and tell him he?s wasting his time developing pillars of the community. Turning boys in to men, what a waste huh? I wasn?t one of Pecks kids, but I spent some time with all of these kids in the room (minus Mac) and let me tell you, they are all better than you RG. Why, because they do what they do because they love it. Peck was there to guide them along their way, to Coach them.
  14. Im watching and all I can think is "this kids gonna hit a leg cradle......BAM!
  15. I thought I heard that all State finalists ate for free at Stacks...Too soon?
  16. Usually you can. I am planning only buying tickets for saturday, likely just the championship session. Work keeps me busy enough.
  17. Thanks all. Wife's hoping he doesnt like wrestling but Im not worried, much as I watch it he will be hooked. Now if Notre Dame will bring back the wrestling program...
  18. Wife and I found out yesterday that we are expecting a little boy! Maybe Coach Peck will stay on long enough for me to bring him back to NC and get a season or two out of him
  19. Tickets go on sale March 17th! Wife has already given me the go ahead to buy my tix! Lucky me, I live in St Louis so travel will be minimal
  20. Stacks is also the official game day restaruant of The New Castle Wrestling Coaching Staff. I always avoid saying or spelling the Greeks last name. It was just easier to say Greek and Little Greek My wife was amazed the first time I took here there as I crushed a plate of chocolate chip pancakes, order of ham and toast and two cups of coffee. *sigh*
  21. Inquiring minds in St. Louis want to know too. ANy New Castle updates are great
  22. Definitely the Vision Quest Soundtrack. Lunatic Fringe and Only the Young to get the sweat rolling. Eye of the Tiger, Top Gun Anthem especially for intros I was a big fan of More than a Feeling by Boston. The electric guitar solo really pumped me up. Still does
  23. So does any one have final brackets to post? Top six finishers? Anything?
  24. What weight is Levi Rose, New Castle, going to be at? He was a regional champion last year.
