    BIAS WARNING:
Went to Garrett High School. I had to do some hard thinking given what happened last weekend in Evansville with Mr. Leech as well as Clayton Fielden from a few years ago.. but the best wrestler from my school is still my brother, Hayden Lee:
    -2x Indiana Place Winner (3rd & 6th)
    -Ohio State Champ
    -NAIA National Champ
    -Super 32 - 8th Place
-Best winning percentage in school history

Every year for the last fifty (that is about my length of recollection) people always gripe about misuse of injury time.  I think that sometimes injury time is abused, but there is nothing to be done about that except maybe scoring one point any time an injury time is taken when the Official determines a score is imminent.  Other than that I fear we begin to penalize a kid who is injured and that should not happen.  I thinik most coaches, if they wil admit it, have had a kid who faked it to get a rest.  I remember once back in the early eighties when my guy was wretling in the Regional and in the middle of a flurry he began to scream.  The Official stopped the action, and I quickly moved to him.  I told him to lie still and asked him where he was injured,.  He looked up and said, "I'm not injured coach I just need a break."  I wanted to kill him, ir was embarassing eventhough no one knew.  I told him to lay there until I helped him up.  I got him up and had him walk around, and then he went back to wrestling.  The "break" did not help as he got beat fairly soundly.  THe next week at praxctice I made him run each day.  He asked why and I told him it he needed a break during the match he must not be in shape.  There may have been others, but nearly as blatant.

How many medals and honors does this family have? I know there are I believe two younger Rioux’s as well? What this family has done is nothing short of incredible. Off the top of my head, Eight state medals, five finals appearances, and now a state title. Props to them, finally bringing that title home

132 had a good one to rewatch. Thrine and Scheoff could of gone either way. There was a definite missed TD call for Scheoff. Great wrestling by Schoeff pushing Thrine to the very end.

No One Famous reacted to Y2CJ41 in Article: Lake Central’s Mason Jones Drives Into Potential State Finals Run with Renewed Confidence
    By Anna Kayser

One year after losing in the quarterfinals and wrestling his way back to fifth place at 106 pounds at the IHSAA State Finals, Lake Central senior Mason Jones is looking to leave it all on the mat.

Throughout his high school career, he hasn’t taken too many losses. Eleven as a sophomore, two a year ago – the second coming in that pivotal quarterfinal match that would inevitably propel him into his final high school campaign – and none thus far as he gears up for semi-state this coming weekend.

If you’re counting along, that means Mason Jones has racked up a lot of wins through three years as a varsity wrestler for Lake Central. There was just more to learn in the losses.

“I feel like I took away from just my overall season last year that there was always more I could do, more I could work towards especially when I came up short,” Jones said. “Last year at state, it felt like everything stopped and that it was all over. I had to take some time, sit down and remember that it wasn’t over, there was still more to go.”

Every transfer no matter what is supposed to be approved by the IHSAA and gets the pass of the principal of the recieving school and transferring out school. The parent/athlete needs to submit an Athletic Transfer Report that the principals will need to sign off on. You can have a student from another school that didn't play any sports transfer and they are not allowed to play any sport at the new school until the Athletic Transfer Report has been approved. For the most part, the principals from both the receiving and transferring out are supposed to evaluate if any of the transfer rules in the bylaws have either been broken or met then throw a red flag to the IHSAA or give approval. Transferring is very well defined in the bylaws. https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/2022-23 By-Laws.pdf Start reading on page 96 and it goes over all violations and reasons for legitimate transfers.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong I am just reading the rules. We have never had a high-level athletic transfer so I can only go off of the fact we had a student from another school move to us and they never even played a sport but had to still jump through the hoops. How people get around these rules I have no clue. But it is pretty hard to argue if there is a legit change of address barring it being some apartment with an address that "receives mail".

Also, remember middle school is the wild wild west and kids can go to any school they want before high school starts as long as the school system they are going to has open enrollment.  Which then doesn't throw an Athletic Transfer Report.

Now I only concentrated on the potential Ticket Round matches & only if both wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 in the State. There are plenty of other bad draws, but to me these are the ones that standout.

    Fort Wayne Ticket Round
113    #4(#2) Jalen Sawyer-May (Kokomo) vs. #7(#3) Levi Johns (Bluffton)

    East Chicago Ticket Round
132    #6(#2) Guillermo Rivera (Lake Central) vs. #8(#3) Sonny Sessa (Crown Point)
150    #9(#3) Kaptur Nowaczyk (Crown Point) vs. #7(#2) Caydn Smith (Plymouth)
215    #1(#1) Will Clark (Crown Point) vs. #7(#5) Kameron Kauffman (Warsaw)
285    #2(#2) Brady Beck (Rochester) vs. #6(#5) Collin Foy (Hanover Central)

    New Castle Ticket Round
138    #6(#2) Gavyn Whitehead (New Castle) vs. #7(#3) Peyton Hornsby (New Palestine)
150    #8(#3) Braden Getz (Roncalli) vs. #4(#1) Jacob Weaver (Rossville)
190    #10(#4) Clay Guenin (Greenfield-Central) vs. #3(#1) Luke Penola (Zionsville)
215    #8(#3) Jackson Weingart (Cathedral) vs. #10(#5) Shaun Glass (New Palestine)

    Evansville Ticket Round
106    #6(#3) Royce Malone (Monrovia) vs. #4(#2) Brady Byrd (Washington)
120    #3(#1) Ty Henderson (EV.  Mater Dei) vs. #4(#2) Preston Haines (Brownsburg)
120    #9(#5) Walter Hagedorn (Tell City) vs. #7(#4) Isaac Ash (Monrovia)
126    #1(#1) Isaiah Schaefer (EV.  Mater Dei) vs. #6(#4) Dominic Brown (Center Grove)
150    #2(#2) Hunter May (Floyd Central) vs. #3(#3) Tommy Gibbs (Brownsburg)
190    #8(#4) Jett Goldsberry (Heritage Hills) vs. #2(#2) Kaden McConnell (Center Grove)

Given 16 wrestlers per weight get to go to the State finals, anyone ranked in the Top 10 who gets eliminated by another Top 10 wrestler in the Ticket Round at SS without the chance of wrestle-backs is a complete injustice. JMO!

None from this list come from the Big 3 nationally recognized teams and only two from this list come from a statewide duals Top 10 ranked team. The schedules teams are facing now are so brutal.
