  1. How about that NC 285? I am so proud of this young man. I look forward to the next 2 years.
  2. EV - 4 NC - 4 FW - 1 EC - 5 Not sure if it is because of the match ups, or I am thinking differently, but I originally thought EV would have more champs. I would also agree that the number of champions is not a true indicator of which semi-state "rules."
  3. Coach Strader always told us to avoid the three S's during wrestling season: Sweets Seconds Sex I tell kids this every year still.
  4. I am not knocking the practice at all. This is the system the IHSAA has created. I would probably do the same thing because both of these schools are strong academically also; and give my son the best for both opportunities. Btw, my name is David Kern. I coach at North Central. I will be coaching our 285 this weekend. Come on down and say hello!
  5. Y2, those schools don't benefit from the academy because the kids choose to go to Avon and Brownsburg as freshmen. I understand your argument because we deal with the same problems. I think the challenge for every coach is how to teach at all levels. Obviously, you need to get top level kids in your room to keep your own kids engaged in the local club, first. Then, you have a program, that is still open, to teach the beginners as well. OR, you simply push your HS kids to the academies, and focus on the elementary and middle schools clubs. I think it has to start there anyway.
  6. Ruined it? I believe Hendricks county is reaping the benefits of the several academies in their area. I think the HS coaches need to remove their egos and understand that their kids only get better when they are in a room with better kids.
  7. No offense to any kid in 220, but Parris will not be challenged in any of those matches.
  8. Just imagine if that match was first and the 10k fans had seen that throw. The place would have erupted!
  9. Sure...I see who you got. I just don't see all of the East Chicago kids winning. Anything can happen, and I have seen that SS dominating the championship matches. I just don't see it being very realistic this year. Of course, I could be wrong. And I will be the first to give them all the credit on Sunday morning if it goes like you think.
  10. Obviously, you are are from the EC semi-state. A little bias in all of those picks
  11. Did you get tired by the end? The 285's never get any love!!
  12. The only third party that could be involved would be the IHSAA - I would think.
  13. 220 152 145 182 160 113 132 106 120 126 285 170 138 195
  14. There is another Indiana HS wrestling forum?
  15. At 106, Hadley and Peters wrestle 1st round, so one will not advance, but I am liking the love shown for NC kids!!
  16. I would take the top 4 from any weight class from New Castle against the top 4 from any other semi-state most years. And those three teams are good, but I see lots of possible state champs from Evansville this year and next year.
