Forfeits will not allow a wrestler with 10 matches to go unseeded. If they have 10 matches, including forfeits, they can be seeded.

I appreciate all of the feedback on the video a team state. It was important for me to get the event streamed this year, and it is clear that there was a demand for it. I am sorry if it was not perfect. As this is my first year being involved in that decision making process, I can assure you that we will take all of this into account next year when planning. I am very pleased with all of the work that the many people put into this tournament. It really is a team effort. But I can already tell you that you are correct there are areas we can do better at. I heard from a few coaches that there were concerns over there videos being available to be seen after team state. For scouting purposes, they didn’t want people to be able to access film on their individual. It was important for me to still stream the tournament though because it is such a good one. Because of that, I asked that matches not be archived.

Team state was always my favorite time of year when I was growing up. I have many memories of wrestlers that didn't have the same credentials as the big names and then beating them or preventing a pin and really stepping up for their team. I think a bigger question is why do so many teams drop out of a tournament in season? Not honoring contracts makes it really difficult on everybody.

This committee was comprised of one coach from each regional. As a representative of the Bloomington South regional, my purpose was to make our regional more competitive at the semi-state level. It was our goal as a committee to achieve a closer balance at the regional level. This was not an easy task to do, as there were many things to consider. Nothing is perfect, but we did our best as a committee and there were reasons behind each change. I cannot speak on behalf of each regional because I was working directly with sectionals that could impact me.

There was a committee put together by a person from each regional. Members of the committee were asked directly by Mr. Faulkens to not communicate with others outside of the members on the information shared. I feel that it is our obligation to adhere to that. This is not something the association is in charge of.
