  1. No. It would take too long. But they may keep wrestlers in a weight class on the same side of the arena.
  2. I heard Early was sick that day...... The games we can play..... It's the past and it really doesn't matter except to us old losers that like to talk nothing but wrestling. Both were great wrestlers and I don't know about Terry now but I know Early is a great coach and still giving back to the sport.
  3. This^^^^^^ Nothing against the Indy greats back in the day but the only thing they would have gotten that year was an Early crossface cradle sammwich. We understand we may be a little down right now but there was a time the SAC alone would have a couple State Champions a year. Don't try and compare today against the yester years.
  4. Max of 2 per weight class? If you have someone in that weight class can you take a FF in one weight class but put 2 in another?
  5. Holy cow! In wrestling I am happy to have 5 every year that survive.
  6. I honestly don't have a full opinion on this either. I would need to play it out a little. I do think if it was done then you have to submit your lineup for the 14 wrestlers that can score in sectionals for you before sectionals and that only 1 per weight class could score. Meaning if you don't have a 106 you FF that and you don't get points for having 2 x 138 pounders. Otherwise I think coaches would FF some weight classes in order for your better backup wrestle for points. Which may seem fair but I would disagree. I think that small 100 pound 106 needs that shot and experience. But I also think it is a sign of a mature program to have wrestlers be willing to be backups until their Junior or Senior year when they can finally make the line up and not quit before them. It shows the program has some culture and pride. Like any other sport if you aren't good enough on your team to make the line up then unfortunately you are JV. That doesn't mean they can't still get all the great life lessons wrestling has for them. We had a few backups last year I think could have made it to semi-state at least. We had a JV wrestler ranked in Semi-State just because we got him enough varsity looks and he beat some quality kids. All the more reason to make your JV schedule tougher. We also know that keep a kid healthy all year is about impossible so having good kids ready to step in at anytime is big.
  7. Wawasee and Warsaw for sure. Wawasee use to be in the Carroll Regional. I had to wrestler Mike Atkins a few times and he was tough.
  8. Yeppers.... My poor JV State Place winner just can't make the Varsity lineup because our school is so good. We need to change the rules.
  9. Thanks guys. I will see if the IHSAA has anything then stalk Winegardner if they don’t.
  10. Yeah. I have looked before. Like I said it would need to be converted by someone.
  11. I am taking a longshot here but with the recent posts of classic matches. Would anyone have the video of the 1994 semi-finals matches, 119 to be exact. It was back in the VHS days and my tape ran out after about a minute or so into to the match and I have never gotten to watch that match. And I think before this old man dies I wouldn't mind actually seeing it instead of reliving it in my head. Any help would be truly appreciated.
  12. I know we have quite a few in this area that can right now and we are building!!!
  13. Dude. Pine Lake is a huge selling point. Hit that thing twice this summer.
  14. Actually I do get a little salty when someone makes unnecessary comments about an area they don't have a clue about especially if they aren't around here trying to help. I don't need to do research, I live it every single day. Trust me on this, I know how it all works in the background with youth wrestlers and how schools are chosen. I hear things first hand and I wasn't being totally sarcastic. I think sooner or later things like that will have to happen in our area if we expect to compete at all on the team level. But... as Galagore said what truly is the goal of this sport? If those second stringers are that good then have them and their parents go to a smaller school and help build the culture there and get even more kids involved in the sport. If you are talking wrestlebacks and spreading out the talent pool then you need to do the research on what the wrestling community has been trying to do for decades. The bottom line is the IHSAA cares about 1 State Champion and making sure the population of wrestlers are spread out. They don't try to shift powerhouses to appease the greats and I don't disagree with that. If it is so difficult there and easy here please feel free to let anyone know we would welcome everyone that would like to move to Northeast Indiana for the easy path but we would also appreciate help with coaching and building the area.
  15. We are well aware that we have work to do and TBH we need to get on the bandwagon and start recruiting and getting all the good kids to the same school to start creating powerhouses. But as of right now we aren’t doing that. No matter if you think this statement is true or not there is much more that goes into it all and personally I find it rude. But hey it’s the internet say what you want. Don’t worry though we always know who makes what statements. Also it is “too bad” and not “two bad”.
  16. I love how we now refer to a high schooler going to another school as a pick up. How many more years before we have a high school portal?
  17. Yeah. I felt there was bunch of finger grabbing that wasn’t being caught. That dude had some great defense for sure. Mendez didn’t back off that second period. Woke me up on the lunch break.
  18. Waylon is on our Outway team. Hoping we can get him in the room from time to time. Although I would have preferred he was still in FW Semi-State. Considering we just lost a big one. Glad he is back in Indiana. Speaking of Outway does anyone have a 190 or HWT that would like to compete?
  19. Let's hear it for number 2 and 5 in the country at 182!
  20. WOW!!! I was watching the match with a coworker and we didn't realize that. That is really really bad for a big match like that. Is there a chance it gets overturned?
  21. Bloomington North. You are thinking of Hutchens of Plymouth.
  22. I got over forcing a kid to go down a good decade ago, “because they have to learn to get out.”Yes they have to learn to get out and for the most part a practice room is the place to do it. There are some kids that are super tough on top. Especially at National Duals and if you choose down and you aren’t good at getting out you are just asking to get turned. Plus when coaching a team that you aren’t familiar with all the kids strengths and weaknesses asking the kid or their parent what they prefer really helps build the relationship and gives the wrestler confidence he may need to win the match.
