  1. Apparently, you have missed something. According to the IHSAA, New Haven High School, is shown and listed as the HOST SCHOOL. And while I'm at it, many years back, little K - through - 12, Adams Central High School, in Monroe, Indiana, which is in Adams County, and not Allen County, was the host school for several years. I can remember their Athletic Director of those times, Art Habegger, scurrying around the Coliseum arena floor, during the set up and tear down, using his two way portable transceiver, answering questions, and solving issues immediately as they had occurred. And yes, other area schools helped out by providing additional manual labor. Also, there was AC Computer, Phil Arnold, providing the administration of the tournament software for the whole day. This was way prior to the Track Wrestling tournament programming. I don't believe New Haven High School went it alone in this 2018 Semi-State venture. Especially, since Woodlan High School provided at least two of the competition mats. When Snider or North Side hosted this meet in years past, other Summit Athletic Conference Schools, assisted as needed; Wayne, Bishop Dwenger, etc.
  2. What does the Mayor of New Haven have to do with the hosting of the IHSAA Wrestling Semi-State, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum; located at 4000 Parnell Avenue, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The School Corporation, is the East Allen County Schools, and the Administration Office, is located on Green Street, in New Haven, Indiana; and so is the New Haven High School. The community's Governmental Administration, has no direct control or link to the School Corporation. In the City Of Fort Wayne Corporation's boundaries, it is the same situation. The Public School Corporation is the Fort Wayne Community Schools, and the Mayor (the Honorable Tom Henry, and City Council) have no administrative authority over the school corporation. The school corporation is a separate and own administrative entity.
  3. I was believing, there would already be a post here about this observation, but I didn't see anything, and that could be an oversight. Former Columbia City, Bluffton, and Jay County Coach, Randy Kearby, has returned to Northeastern Indiana. Randy is the 2017-18 Head Wrestling Coach for the Fort Wayne, North Side, 'Legends' Program Squad
  4. For the most part, the entering of participants' IHSAA seeding and entry rules, are pretty much the same as they always have been. If a school enters a particular participant, and the entrant can not wrestle for what ever the reason, the only option is place the name of an alternate in their place, and the original entrant is no longer a participant, and can not be moved up, to cover a different weight class for their team. The original weight class entrant is just simply out of the 2017 IHSAA Wrestling tournament series

  6. Someone is surly going to inquire, as they always do. The Fort Wayne SAC will be wrestled this coming Saturday morning, January 21, 2017, at 8:30 A.M. The seeding meeting will be Friday evening (Jan. 20th.), at 7:00 P.M., at R. Nelson Snider High School, 4600 Fairlawn Pass. The results and brackets, shall be displayed for public viewing, on TRACKWRESTLING.com at about 10:01 P.M., Friday evening, and not any earlier.
  7. If by chance you happen to be just a fan, and also have an active GOLD membership ($50 Dollars per annum), you can enter the pages of the tournament brackets while a match is in progress or after a match has been completed. If every match in the tournament has a unique match number, click on the match number, this will take you to a dialogue box, where you will be required to log in again. Once logged in, you will be able to observe that particular match during it's progress (similar to the dashboard), or you can observe all of the stats/moves and points awarded for each wrestler in this match. If this match contained a Fall (pin), the action and the time is recorded out on bracket below the advancing wrestler's name for the next match that wrestler is going to be wrestling. You can always use your nibbling tool program, to encircle, or box in, and capture the match details, you might be wanting to save, and store it in a file of your choosing as a JPEG.
  8. Here it is 12:06 P.M. on The Feast Day of St. Valentine, but the IHSAA has yet to provide the Track Wrestling 'Gold Members' anything. By the way the forums internal clock isn't based on local time from the Eastern Time Zone, but rather some other place in the world.
  9. They, the 'Track Wrestling' brackets, indeed, maybe up on Thursday, but they will be empty, because the seeding meeting isn't until Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. at Snider H.S.
  10. J. "Fred" Tone, 70, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born in San Antonio, TX, Fred was a teacher, coach and principal at Bishop Dwenger High School for 42 years, retiring in 2010. 11. I believe you're a little confused about why the match is paused for bleeding, and clean up. First of all, high school (Folk Style) wrestling is not the WWE, and shouldn't ever be compared to it in any way. Secondly, blood time is taken, in a attempt to curtail, and close the wounded area (such as internal nasal cavity tissues, cracked open lips from the very dry warm room air, or a glancing slice to an eye brow from the sharp edge of an opposing wrestlers head gear. The problem with the blood, is the possibility, of this liquid body fluid, being contaminated with some sort of infectious disease, and it could have possibly come into direct contact with another person, or persons. Some diseases like HIV can be spread by coming into contact with someone else's infected body fluids. For a clean up procedure, a strong dilution of Chlorine Bleach and water, should negate any undesirable bugs in the body fluids, being now it has become a waste product.

  13. Safety for all is paramount. Also, give everyone a great reason to avoid litigious civil court cases. Should there be a travel accident, with school transportation vehicles, and injuries are a part of it, God forbid, the personal injury legal specialist, will be on the scene, dispensing their business cards before, any ambulance has driven away with any of the injured. In fact they'll still be hanging around at the accident scene until after the towing services have remove the wreckage, or they'll be waiting at the hospital ER, for a prognosis for those receiving treatment. This is no longer the good ole days; no great grandparent stories about walking to school for seven or eight miles in all kinds of inclement weather. I can remember a certain high school Athletic Director (now long since retired), whose mantra about hosting wrestling tournaments during the worst of snow event. 'If the snow against the school building door, isn't so high, that we can't open and enter, we will be wresting'. AC Computer knows of whom I'm referring.

  15. If (and this would be a very big if), a group of deep pocketed financial benefactors, along with the IHSAA, would allow, or acquiesce, for a one year trial basis, the possibility of moving the Individual weight class state finals, from the Bankers’ Life Field House, to the Lucas Oil Stadium. I know, at the outset, most will say, observing the current administration within the IHSAA, it just couldn’t be possible. Well, one can dream, can’t they? Seriously, I recently saw some still images, captured from the Iowa State High School Athletic Association, Championship Series finals, and apparently, they are being contested, at least for the opening round, on three mats. And I’m aware Iowa’s state finals are in three classes. Can we do better with just one single class? Yes, using eight mats, could be accomplished at Banker’s Life Field House; but placing eight mats on the floor, where the square footage was planned for NBA Basketball, and, or Ice Hockey, would make the mat placements on the floor surface very tight; even after disassembling and removing the hockey dasher boards. Also, the sundry of peripheral equipment and required furnishings would be tightly jammed much closer (possibly to close) to the each mat surface. At Lucas Oil Stadium, this wouldn’t ever become an issue. Surly, all are aware, the NCAA Basketball Final Four, either have been, or will be soon staged at Lucas oil. The configuration of the court surface is laid across the grain to the football artificial sport turf; wherefore only a little more than half of the stadium’s permanent seating is in viewing contact of the game floor. Temporary seating is assembled to view one side of the court. For wrestling, the temporary seating wouldn’t be an issue, because the layout of the eight mats would coincide, double file, with the length of the full football surface. During Friday night’s opening round, there could be one consolation round of the opening round’s losers. Than as the Saturday morning rounds begin, each weight class would have eight wrestlers in the Championship Quarter finals, and four wrestlers in the consolation bracket. Now we will have a TRUE wrestle backs. Okay, while we now have thirteen officials working the four mats over two days, which allows for an assistant referee at each match, the number of officials, more than likely would have to be increased; I.E., maybe not exactly to twenty six, but something along those lines. I’m sure this whole idea, while it indeed has merit, will be panned as absolutely undoable. Thanks anyway for reading and using your valuable time.
  16. ESPN.com: Olympics Tuesday, February 12, 2013 Wrestling dropped from 2020 Games -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- IOC leaders dropped wrestling from the Olympic program on Tuesday, a surprise decision that removes one of the oldest Olympic sports from the 2020 Games. The IOC executive board decided to retain modern pentathlon -- the event considered most at risk -- and remove wrestling instead from its list of 25 "core sports." The decision was first reported by The Associated Press. The IOC board acted after reviewing the 26 sports on the current Olympic program. Eliminating one sport allows the International Olympic Committee to add a new sport to the program later this year. Wrestling, which combines freestyle and Greco-Roman events, goes back to the inaugural modern Olympics in Athens in 1896. "This is a process of renewing and renovating the program for the Olympics," IOC spokesman Mark Adams said. "In the view of the executive board, this was the best program for the Olympic Games in 2020. It's not a case of what's wrong with wrestling, it is what's right with the 25 core sports." Adams said the decision was made by secret ballot over several rounds, with members voting each time on which sport should not be included in the core group. The figures were not disclosed. IOC President Jacques Rogge did not vote. Wrestling featured 344 athletes competing in 11 medal events in freestyle and seven in Greco-Roman at last year's London Olympics. Women's wrestling was added to the Olympics at the 2004 Athens Games. Wrestling will now join seven other sports in applying for inclusion in 2020. The others are a combined bid from baseball and softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu. They will be vying for a single opening in 2020. The IOC executive board will meet in May in St. Petersburg, Russia, to decide which sport or sports to propose for 2020 inclusion. The final vote will be made at the IOC session, or general assembly, in September in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is extremely unlikely that wrestling would be voted back in so soon after being removed by the executive board. "Today's decision is not final," Adams said. "The session is sovereign and the session will make the final decision." The last sports removed from the Olympics were baseball and softball, voted out by the IOC in 2005 and off the program since the 2008 Beijing Games. Golf and rugby will be joining the program at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. The IOC program commission report analyzed more than three dozen criteria, including television ratings, ticket sales, anti-doping policy and global participation and popularity. With no official rankings or recommendations contained in the report, the final decision by the 15-member board was also subject to political, emotional and sentimental factors. Previously considered under the closest scrutiny was modern pentathlon, which has been on the Olympic program since the 1912 Stockholm Games. It was created by French baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement. Modern pentathlon combines fencing, horse riding, swimming, running and shooting -- the five skills required of a 19th century cavalry officer. The sport's governing body, the UIPM, has been lobbying hard to protect its Olympic status, and the efforts apparently paid off. UIPM President Klaus Schormann had considered traveling from Germany to Lausanne for the decision, but decided to stay away. "The Olympic movement always needs history," Schormann told the AP ahead of the IOC decision. "You cannot just say we look only at the future. You can have a future when you are stable on the basic part of history. We are continuing to develop, to renovate, to be innovative and creative. We are very proud of what we achieved so far and want to deliver this as well for the next generations in 2020." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  18. Four area wrestlers regional champs for second straight year Posted: 02/02/2013 at 8:00 pm By: Steve Krah skrah@etruth.com GOSHEN — Elkhart Memorial High School junior Tieshawn Johnson spent a little over two minutes on the mat Saturday in rolling to the 195-pound title at Saturday’s Goshen Regional wrestling tournament. So dominant was Johnson that he scored three pins — in 31 seconds, 1:06 and :49 — in helping the Crimson Chargers to a runner-up finish to East Noble in the team standings. The Knights reigned in six of 14 weight divisions and scored 185 points — 44 more than Memorial. “I’ve had some tough practices,” said Johnson, who has been training with senior Kain Jenkins (the regional runner-up at 182) and getting pointers from former state champions Nick Corpe and Steve Stahl and state runner-up Ryan Stahl — all former Memorial wrestlers. “I try to come out and dominate every match.” Johnson (34-3) is one of six individual champions from Elkhart County and one of 33 grapplers from The Elkhart Truth area to gain a berth in next Saturday’s Fort Wayne Semistate at Memorial Coliseum. The top four finishers — 56 athletes — advanced from Goshen to Fort Wayne. The top four at semistate move on to the State Finals in Indianapolis. Johnson and Jimtown seniors Tanner Adams (170) and Nick Crume (126) repeated as regional champions in the same weight class while Fairfield junior Forrest Glogouski won at 120 this year after placing first at 113 in 2012. Adams (170) moved to 39-1 on the 2012-13 season by scoring two pins and having Memorial’s Tommy Kendall default because of injuries in the finals. “My confidence is up,” said Adams, whose only loss this season came in December during the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association State Duals at Westfield. “I have confidence in my wrestling.” Adams, who has overcome opponents while dealing with occasional migraine headaches, said he will work this week on his “gameplan” and his mindset for semistate. “I can’t let them intimidate me,” said Adams. “I have to control the match.” Crume, who has been ranked No. 1 statewide by IndianaMat.com, moved to 30-0 with two pins, including one against Fairfield senior Brett Martz for the title, and a major decision. Glogouski, who became Fairfield’s first 100-match winnner and the school’s career victory leader earlier this winter, improved to 37-0 with a pin, a technical fall and 6-0 decision against Jimtown junior Konner Chafin in the finals. Elkhart Central senior Johnny Tredway (26-5 at 160) and NorthWood senior Zach Telschow (32-3 at 182) took Elkhart County’s other crowns. Tredway produced a pin and two convincing decisions while Telschow notched two pins then outlasted Memorial’s Jenkins 9-7 in the finals. There were four rematches of last week’s Elkhart Sectional finals — at 120, 126, 170 and 182 — with the same wrestler prevailing this time around. Goshen senior Travis Pickard placed fourth at 152 after suffering torn rib cartilage, an injury that required he be carried out of the gym on a stretcher. He was back by the end of the tournament. If he is unable to go next week, the alternate (fifth-place finisher) at 152 is Fairfield junior Tony Zook. Goshen Regional Team scores (semistate qualifiers in parentheses): East Noble 185 (9), Elkhart Memorial 141 (7), Jimtown 116 (5), Fairfield 89.5 (5), Northridge 86.5 (7), Goshen 73 (3), Fremont 7 (3), DeKalb 56.5 (4), West Noble 47.5 (2), Elkhart Central 42 (2), Westview 37 (2), NorthWood 34 (1), Angola 31 (1), Central Noble 31 (2), Prairie Heights 27 (1), Lakeland 23 (1), Concord 18.5 (1). JG logo Last updated: January 26, 2013 5:50 p.m. Carroll's team shines Greg Jones, High school sports editor Carroll won't be able to go head-to-head in a team dual format after winning its own wrestling sectional Saturday, but it might be able to see how it fares against some of the other top teams in the state after all. The IHSAA did away with the decade-and-a-half team tournament, so the Chargers won't advance as a team. But with 14 individuals making it to next week's Carroll Regional, the Chargers could qualify for the Indiana Wrestling Coaches Association's unofficial class state tournament next season, which is supposed to take the place of the dual team state tourney. "It is a little disappointing," Carroll coach Scott Raypole said. "You would like to see how you could stack up against the other teams. We definitely want our shot. "Looking forward, qualifying all 14 guys for regionals maybe we can pick up enough points for next year's coaches' team state. That's what we put in their head. We are not just wrestling for individual sectionals or team sectionals, but also for next year's team and guys who are coming back next year." _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Carroll had 261 1/2 points to win its own wrestling sectional. 23. Published: December 22, 2012 3:00 a.m. Saints wrestler grabs win when team needs it most Ben Smith The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The kid ran out of memory, it turns out, at about the same rate he ran out of breath. And so pardon Bishop Dwenger wrestler David Obergfell (Grade 9) for drawing a blank trying to remember who he?d lost to earlier in the long evening Friday. ?When I lost my matches to Northrop and ? Northrop and ?? he began. A pause. ?I just can?t remember,? Obergfell went on. ?So winded right now.? No problem. Because when it got (came) down to cases at the SAC Holiday Dual Wrestling Meet, no one had any problem remembering what he did in the last match of the night. With the rest of the Dwenger and Snider wrestlers surrounding the mat, Obergfell finally got (turned) Snider?s Lamont Carpenter on (to) his back at the 3:40 mark of their 113-pound showdown, and that was that. The pinfall sealed it for the host Saints, 37-33, in the championship round of the annual meet. It was the culmination of a night of cliffhanging for Dwenger, which won all four of its matches (meets), but needed the last match of the night to beat Northrop (36-31), Concordia (35-33) and Snider. ?We had to have a win all of those three rounds to pull it out,? Dwenger coach John Tone said. ?And a different kid each time stepped up to the plate and came up with a great win.? Last but hardly least among them was Obergfell, one of the smaller guys out there (and a fill-in; he?s JV). But as the Saints and Panthers swapped crucial victories, it became increasingly clear that the little guy was going to have to shoulder the biggest load of all. ?I told the kid (David Obergfell) a couple matches ahead, ?It?s going to come down to you,? ? Tone said. ?I said, ?It?s your turn to step up.? ? And his response? ?He said, ?I?m ready. I?m ready, Coach.? And I said, ?I know you are.? ? That?s not exactly the way Obergfell remembers it. ?I said, ?Coach, I?ll try my best and I?ll come back with a victory,? ? he said. Even so, it wasn?t until Luis Marquez of Snider closed out Alex Bruns 18-2 at 106 pounds that Obergfell realized it truly had come down to him. ?When all the wrestling team came over, I just knew it was up to me,? he said. ?And I just got it through my and head and thought, ?I?ve got to get this.? ? In addition to Obergfell, the Saints got wins from Louis Garrett (120), Jordan Bly (132), Logan Parrish (138), Jon Hake (160), C.J. Bostwick (170), Ben Evans (182) and Shawn Ryan (185). Garrett, Parrish and Evans won by fall. Snider, which won all three of its (their) preliminary matches (meets), (had) trailed 28-16 after Evans? pin at 182 but won three of the next four weight classes, two by fall, to take it to the end. bensmith@jg.net ?
