  1. Another one to prove my point. So personal fellas.
  2. Man, people are nasty on here. It doesn't matter if it was or wasn't a reversal at this point. It's over and nothing is going to change it. The ones who were rooting against Egli are never going to be convinced it was a reversal, no matter what, and the MD folks are obviously not going to change their mind on the matter. If it were a wrestler from any team other than MD we would probably not even still be talking about it.
  3. It's that time of year again and I wanted to share some info that might come in handy, especially for those that might be attending an event for the first time at the Ford Center. If you have any additional questions just let me know, I'm the one who represents the venue for this event and all other events at the arena. I'm a huge wrestling fan and am only posting this so you don't get hassled or are surprised by any of the rules, etc. I truly look forward to this event every year. - Parking and general information about the arena can be found at www.thefordcenter.com - The main entrance is located on Main St. - Wrestlers and coaches will enter at the interior ticket lobby doors located to the right of the main entrance doors. - Doors will open up at 8am CST. Prices and times are listed on www.IHSAA.org, so go there if you don't already have that info. - No outside food or drinks are allowed through the front doors. Any and all team coolers must enter at the wrestler/coaches entrance and taken to the locker room area and need to stay there. If they are taken to the stands the ushers will ask you to take them back to the locker room area. - We will have full concessions available throughout the day. Coffee and hot chocolate are also available all day as well. (get the bbq pork nachos, huge and awesome) - Please do not climb over the dasher walls! Wrestlers and coaches have a specific entrance on to the floor so please use that one. - There is no on-site parking for teams or attendees. Again, parking info can be found on our website. - There is no smoking on or in the Ford Center property, this includes e-cigarettes. - There is NO "public" Wi-Fi available. The available connections you will see listed if you look are for Ticketmaster and other various systems. - If you set up a camcorder it must be out of the aisles and all cords must be taped down to avoid tripping hazards. If you need some tape just ask an usher and we can help you out. - Brackets will be updated throughout the day and posted on several of the 170 or so TVs located all over the arena. The brackets end up kind of small, but hey, they are everywhere and pretty cool. - Lastly, if you are a wrestler that loses please don't kick, throw, or punch Ford Center property. We had a kid break off a door handle last year. Sent the bill to the school. That's all I have for now. If I think of anything else I will update this post. Like I said, let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!!
  4. Working at the Ford Center, it's now my favorite event of the year. As a former wrestler and huge fan I dig this time of year. Just wanted to share a little info again this year so everyone attending that reads this is somewhat clued in when they get there. 1. All wrestlers will enter thru the interior ticket office lobby this year, not the back doors. This is located on Main Street just to the right of the main entrance doors. (media will also enter thru these doors). 2. All wrestlers coolers will need to enter there as well and must be taken to the locker room. Coolers will not be allowed thru the main doors. 3. The door at the interior ticket office will open at 7am so wrestlers can go to weigh ins. The main public doors will open at 8am. 4.There is no on-site parking. The best place to park is in the free lot on 9th and Walnut St. It's about a block walk to the doors. 5. Brackets will be posted throughout the day on the 181 screens around the building, as well as the main jumbotron. This one was my idea. 6. Try the bbq pork nachos! We smoke the pork overnight and shred it too. It's all made in-house, none of this heat and serve crap. 7. Also try the Superstar Burger. Named after our Concessions Manager and former Castle wrestler Craig Spillman, it's awesome, just like him. If you have any questions about the day just let me know. If not, I will see you all tomorrow morning!
  5. Re: Biggest disappointment My biggest disappointment is the way MD wrestled. No fire, and most matches they just looked content to lose. Especially in the consolations. Down by 2 and not even attempting shots? Come on fellas! I sure hope you arent content with settling to lose next week at team state. Forget about Perry, Bellmont may put it on you if you don't wake up.
  6. The ice stays down all season, so it doesn't matter if there is an Icemen game the night before, we have to leave the ice down. Also, I have already talked to the people in charge about doing some added touches next year. For example, doing the finals with a 3 camera shoot on our HD scoreboard big screens. Replays and all. They said they would discuss it. I'm going to try my best to convince my superiors to cut them a break on it.
  7. How were the pork nachos? And is everyone diggin' the updated brackets on the TVs?
  8. I forgot to tell you this....I got the hosts to do something special when it comes to the updated brackets that used to get printed out and posted on the wall, something that no other semi state could pull off. Let's just say that the Ford Center has about 175 flatscreen TVs located all over the arena.
  9. Just an FYI for the coaches, the hospitality room is on the 1st floor. You get to it from the main lobby, just follow the signs.
  10. They are scheduled to start at 4, but they never start on time.
  11. They will be 4 in a line. It's going to be an awesome venue for high school wrestling. Also, try the bbq pork nachos (share with a friend, they are huge) or the taco salads. Delicious!
  12. Hello all Evansville Semi-state fans. I work at the new Ford Center as the Production Manager and I wanted to post a few things for all of you attending this year. I am a huge wrestling fan and have been attending and working the Evansville Semi-state for many years. It's a new arena (obviously), so things will be a little bit different as far as the layout goes. I also wanted to let you know of a few tips and rules so as to save some hassles at the door. First, there is a free parking lot on 9th Street behind the Civic Center. It is at the corner of 9th and Walnut St. There are also 4 parking garages within a couple of blocks of the arena. Make sure not to park on the rear property of the arena, on Main Street in front of the arena, or in the D-Patrick car lot on 6th street. Next, the public entrance to the Ford Center is on Main Street near MLK. The wrestler and coaches entrance is on 6th Street near Walnut Street at the rear of the arena. This is where all team coolers will need to be brought in as well. There are some premium seats in the arena (in an area accessible to the public) that are sold for the event that day that will unfortunately be unavailable to the general public. We will have these stanchioned off and marked, so if you do not have loge seat tickets please avoid these. Lastly, do not try to bring coolers in through the front door. If it is for the wrestler it needs to go to the wrestler and coaches entrance. There also is no outside food or drink allowed inside. I can't wait for Saturday, because it is sure going to look awesome in a new state of the art arena. The rest of the state sure would be jealous if they knew how sweet the Evansville semi-state is going to be.
  13. Any more results? Many thanks if so.
  14. Heading into finals now. Team scores before finals are: MD 265 Trinity 174 Union Co. 164 Franklin 152 Memorial 140 Saint X 108 Avon 105 Mt. Vernon 103 Floyd C 82 Tell city 37 New Albany 35 North Posey 34 Franklin (TN) 32 Providence 25 Kentucky day 19 Vincennes 12
  15. Does tomorrow morning start with the semis? Or is it more consolations? Thanks ahead of time. ???
  16. Check out mulletsgalore.com, if you want a few chuckles. They have catergorized mullets, from the femullet (female) to the meximullet.
  17. I forgot about Dalton Brandenstein from MD. He wrestled at the Holiday Classic and looked pretty good. I think he's just a freshman, so you will definately hear his name in the next few years.
  18. I think maybe 2 at the most. I am pretty sure he placed as a Junior as well.
  19. Lennie May from MD is an awesome JV. He was even ranked in the Evansville SS rankings and now he isn't even varsity. I'm sure there are more over there as well.
  20. I think it definately can be a difference maker, and it goes back to momentum. Take last night for example. Mater Dei at Reitz. Packed house and they are loud. Mater Dei gets to start with their best wrestler at 140 and probably second best at 145. Tech fall and pin and it got the team and crowd pumped. Next up was King at 152 and many expected him to get tech falled or beat badly, instead he gets the decision. I guarantee those first 2 guys got him more pumped than if they would have started at 103 with Kuhn pinning the MD kid and Johns at 119 pinning as well. Just my 2 cents.
  21. Maurer and Coughlin. Castle has the Welch twins now that are pretty good, and I am sure they have gone at eachother a couple of times.
  22. Consider it a "Best of the Rest" recognition.
