Billy Naegle headlock on Dosher MD Friday night

The crowd went absolutely wild when that happened..Unfortunately That being my Weight class and my senior year, I very vividly remember how it all all played out... Naegle was a Fargo AA in greco with that nasty Headlock!

160 was wide open That season... especially when I'm the last month of the season after my raggedy ass picked up majors over The irish' eventual 2x placer (6th&3rd) Schmaltz, South Ridges 2x State Finalist  Jared Steckler, and in the sectional finals was blessed to get the 4-1 victory over the late great Denver King of Centerville who also had been a a state finalist earlier in his career.. Dude was a  A huge 60 pounder and 1 great competitor as well. Hated hearing about his untimely passing 🙏🙏🙏

Then lost in the regional finals to my own nemesis Barnhizer 6-4. Back then it was only the top three for each Regional that advanced the SS, with the regional Champion getting a bye Saturday morning at SS. The Champ would be awaiting the winner of the #2&3 seeds  in the ticket round.

After majoring my sat morning opponent Zack webb , I returned to my usual choke artist form blowing a lead in the ticket round ,assuring once again I was going to buy my ticket to the state finals.. But learning valuable lessons I could use as cautionary tales, later in life coaching.

After #1 Dosher went down Friday night, The smoke Cleared with,

South Bend s Adam O'Neil winning the title. Beating studs like Deutch and Keith Hodges along the way.

O'Neil  then beat Fellow NCSS foe Chaz Ervin handily in the finals 6-0 , with Naegle finishing 8th.

  2. 02' NCSS Semis,

Terrell Coatie is comes out and b takes Defending state Champ Danny Williams down in the first 20 seconds of the match and then really pissed off Williams when TC cut him loose immediately after.

Danny not being too thrilled with the audacity of Terrell, lead to Danny coming in very heavy-handed as he pummeled into over/unders wanting to launch TC, Terrell used a Metzger to keep Danny's hips from getting his hips engaged properly, Stuffing it, as Terrell hit a half on the way down and stuck Danny in the first minute.

After the initial Roar the crowd there was a slight pause with and desfing silence for a few secs.  TC then would say one of the most cold-blooded things I've ever witnessed, as he shouted to the crowd "What? Are you not ENTERTAINED?"

Danny would go on to injury default taking fourth place at semi-state, T Coatie beat the Pike legend Steven James in the SS finals. Danny had been dealing with a ankle injury, and would redeem himself to go on and win his second State title of the following weekend, beating EMD Wildcat legend,  Alex Conkling in the finals. That reminds me that same day Jake O'Brien will qualify for state and being really bad sick, forfeited his next two matches taking fourth place as well. Imagine morning you're similar State going home and finding out you drew Danny Williams or Jake O'Brien Friday night.

    T. Coatie lost in the quarters to Bellmont great Tim Ortiz in a heartbreaker, placing 7th with that old bs Format, your placement criteria depended on how far the guy you lost to advanced.

There was a little more T.Coatie magic, when he went on to would knock off State runner-up Matt Conkling the following weekend at team-state. When we the New Castle Trojans got dog walked,

by 1 of the all time great EMD teams. TC being our only win getting mauled 66-3 and that's us having 9  SSQ/ 5 State finalists.. that is to this day in ihsaa team state record for worst feeding at teamstate LOL

  3. Sr. Year Zak Fattores run@170 was damn impressive. Was scoring bonus points in every match up until the semifinals dominating before a defensive pin was called.. was 39-0 going to the state finals and Tech fall is first two opponents 16-0. Was handily beating  Rader b4 that late def pin was called.. Robbing us of a Fattore vs warren Final.. Warren had only lost up at 182 to Nate Walton.

who is also had 1 of the best campaigns without a title also.

Walton gets the nod as 1 of the best to never win a state title imho...8,3,3,2 and 2x NAIA  ALL AMERICAN  and the mayor of chin whip City!

FYI: Seeding criteria is a joke!! Basing it solely on track rating isn’t the right way! Definitely would think the criteria based on placing at state last year would trump placing at middle school state!! Kids who travel out of state and face top tier competition would obviously have a greater chance of your win loss record being worse than someone wrestles solely in state.

The fact Hornsby vs Whitehead is in semis makes me smh

Just like when I was a kid practicing with me Jon Deters Jankowski Scott Schaefer James Brimm and many others with Brimms dad Shannon at Bosse high School  we were kids they tried to get us to come to Mater Dei.

96' @ 189  Semis,  Brimm vs Pickle might be in the running for the most jacked specimens in the weight class history🤣 Nathan to this day is a genetic freak.

Last night I had the, um, pleasure to dine on the hot dogs at Hanover Central.  Just one look at the color of the hot dog, and it occurred to me that if a hot dog could come back as a zombie, this would be the color of its skin.  As far as the taste, imagine this.  Your parents go out and gamble most of the family's money away on payday.  Well, the hot dogs you'd be eating the following week would be the equivalent of the dogs at Hanover.  At least Hanover Central had real buns.  2 slices of pizza out of 8.  Thank you for reading.

If there was ever a such a thing as a was a cadaver weiner that they got from a zombie, that's it🤣

And Mendez followed up his win over #4 Hardy with a 5-3 win over NC State’s #7 Ryan Jack to take home the title. He’s for sure in the 141 NCAA Finals conversation now.

Lucas Davison also had a solid weekend earning a runner-up finish.

What's Wild is that Ryan Jackson the only one to make it through entire match with Jesse and not give up bonus points. Unreal

We often lose track of of these wrestlers after high school, but it’s comforting to me knowing while I sleep that Zach and his brothers, Jacob and Adam, are protecting me and our country.

Thought this was pretty cool and wanted to share.

Thank you for your service gentlemen🙏🙏🙏

Agree that Reynolds had a great tournament at a really tough weight.

I don't think Weisner pinned Larocca. I think it was triple OT. Not sure why track said it was a pin.

hmmmm, that's odd , thanks for lmk this..it also has Tischner pinning larocca as well in a 1:07. Is that correct?

Braylon Reynolds making it known how tough he really is. Only Indiana placer in arguably the toughest bracket. Great day for him so far.

He had a Damn good day beating 3 of the Indianas finest 120 pounders from last season..Majored State finalist Broady 10-0, then pinned 2x State Placer(6,4)  N.Mosier in 90 seconds. Then beats a stud from Ohio, who placed Top 4 Garrison Weisner, who just had pinned state champion Charlie larocca the match before he was beat 3-0 by Braylon.

Had a tough loss to the KY state Runner Up TJ Meyer (lost in. ky state finals to Jadyn Raney 3-2)

Then Reynolds bounced back beating the 3x INDIANA State finalist 2x Placer Tischner 7-5 to wrestle for 3rd before losing a hard fought Battle 10-5 to a a Ohio State placer. Great day going 6-2 vs nothing but High level competition! Congrats to him and the Reynolds fam on the top 4 Finish, in 1 of the toughest off season tourneys around.
