  1. Gossip Girl told me there is a dodge ball tournament in the upstairs gym Saturday.
  2. I think Beaner looks pretty good on his prediction. Columbus North may get more than 11 through, but 11 sounds about right. Jennings wrestled tough at conference and will make a strong run for the team title. Madison and East will have some solid wrestlers but not quite enough to win it. Brown County will have a couple of studs. Scotsburg will get a couple through as well. Seymour and Bedford may get one or two through. Overall, this will be a CN and JC battle for first with some solid performances from others and have a good off season from the rest.
  3. In a drastic turn of events the Jeff and Floyd coaches have temporarily teamed up to take on T. Howard "Eye of the Tiger" Jones and "the other" Mr. (give no help at conference) Cooper. I heard the Jennings County Sectional is in it's third day of seeding and only up to the 171 class. Someone tell T. Howard to let it go! The studs in that weight class reside in the Jeff Sectional!
  4. Maybe they are being kept secret so the kids don't sit around all day getting psyched out on their day off! Looks like that has already happened a bit.
  5. I agree. The team race will be closer than a lot of people think. Most have conceded the team race to Jeff, who I think deserves favorite status based on the season up to this point. But, everyone knows Floyd will wrestle better at sectionals than they did at conference. Charlestown if a VERY strong contender and will take several to regionals and beyond. Providence has some solid wrestlers, as well as a couple from Corydon and New Albany. This is one of the more interesting years because first place has so much riding on it.
  6. Tag's quickness could give a lot of 215's some trouble, but that is a big gamble come semi-state and state. He seemed like a great fit to place at 189 this year. Hope it works out for him.
  7. As far as the repeated examples from many people that "this team did not have their full line up" or "that team wrestled 4 JV wrestlers;" they do not stand up. Hardly any team, even the best teams, can field their full varsity line up every meet. If everything was done hypothetically, the Arizona Cardinals would not be playing for the Super Bowl title nor would the New York Giants have won last year. There would be no need to play the games or wrestle the matches. Wrestling is great because whoever steps up to the color that day IS the varsity wrestler and they are there to do a job. Whoever you field a team with that day is who you won or lost with that day. The best of the best can insert a wrestler here or there and still win the meet because their kids are in the mat room pushing the varsity kids and making themselves better at the same time. That is how you can tell you have a great program. Whether or not Mater Dei wrestled some JVs against Jeff, they still won. Whether or not Trinity wrestled a couple of JVs against FC, they still won. Whether or not FC wrestled some JVs against Jeff last year in team regionals, they still won. Since when did wrestlers start making excuses like some of the other sports we all like to "take shots" at?
  8. I didn't mean that as hostile STARSMAN. I was implying parody on the Times Mail article. Just a little friendly rivalry speak. Every time I have seen your kids this year they wrestle hard. I am sure there will be a couple advance in the tournament next weekend. Best of luck.
  9. I was wondering if STARSMAN was going to make any guarantees on this board like he did the Times Mail then proceed to get whalloped by Mitchell?? ?Overconfidence - Before you attempt to beat the odds, be sure you could survive the odds beating you.? Congratulations to the Mitchell squad! Hard work and determination paid off (66-16).

  11. I think they have a better chance at a wrestling match than c-red does a spelling contest! Let these quotes help rectify the fallacy of your previous thoughts. "Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together." - Vincent Van Gogh "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Einstein "Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance." - Samuel Johnson
