You mean we may have to actually hold our state tournament in an actual arena venue and not in school cafeterias???  Maybe some good will come from all of this non-sense!  Eville Ford Center, FW Coliseum, state fairgrounds? All venues would be an upgrade.  And don’t tell me they are not big enough. Make it something special for state.  Hell Fri-Sun.  All finals and placement matches on the final day.

Here is a novel concept, let's not force the kids to shake hands with all the coaches, refs, table help, and everyone there.

Someone needs to explain this to me...

Peru Sectional is told by RF that a wrestler without enough qualifying weigh-ins can wrestle but can't be seeded unless the coaches vote unanimously to seed the wrestler.  2 years in a row.

Plymouth Sectional has team with a young man that doesn't have 6 qualifying and he is not even allowed to wrestle.

As an association why are we allowing this to happen to our sport?  Why are we allowing RF to make a mockery of the rules and our sport?

I can't speak to the Indy schools getting preferential treatment or any school for that matter.  I'm simply putting it out there.  I'm frustrated because we did it right and, obviously, doing it right or following the rules is just a suggestion by the IHSAA and RF.

Everyone...I've got the form signed.  Emailed Robert yesterday.  My AD emailed him the day before.  The only thing I can think of is that the minimum weight says 120.3...that's the lowest he can be at 7%.  That would be the only sticking point I could see.  But that hasn't been mentioned as the issue.

Here is our back and forth...

    Good Morning Mr. Faulkens,
Yesterday, you spoke with my AD, Ryan Johnson, concerning a young man that has 6.74% BF with an Alpha Weight of 120.0.  In reading over the doctor's clearance form and the explanation sheet we gave to the doctor, I still can't give an accurate reason to the wrestler and his parents as to why he can't wrestle 120.     If his Alpha Weight is 120.0 and the doctor's clearance form gives him permission to wrestle at his Alpha Weight, shouldn't he be able to compete at 120.0?  On the explanation to the doctor, it states "If you give permission for the wrestler to compete at his Alpha Weight, please circle A."  A states that he can compete at his alpha weight or the weight class above.  The example given in A doesn't account for a wrestler with an Alpha Weight at an exact weight class.  Ex.  Wrestler weighs 110 and is under 7% BF, so he must wrestle 113.  That's easy to understand.  But what if the wrestler was at 113 and under 7%.  Wouldn't he still be able to compete at 113?   Any clarification you can give would be appreciated.  As you can probably tell, I'm confused and I want to be able to communicate effectively to the wrestler and the parents.  I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you!   From RF... First of all, the Physician’s clearance simply notes that he can wrestle without having to gain the weight to be at 7% body fat.  The rule is that an underweight wrestler wrestles at the weight class which immediately exceeds the alpha weight.

I'll be completely transparent.  Our 106 just got back from a broken wrist suffered in PE.  Saturday was his first match.  Our 113 from last year quit.  Our 126/132 has been very sick.  He was there but not healthy.  Our 138 has pneumonia.  Our 160, 182, and 195 are serving a suspension and will be back for Conference and the post season.  Christmas Break was not very kind to us this year.  Oh, and our heavy weight just quit right after team state because "It's just too hard" (Been wrestling since elementary school.). Oh, and our 126 freshman broke his arm on Saturday in the second round.  Yep, I think I got it all...
We'll regroup...we still have some good wrestling left in us.

Did not mean it like that - I trained alongside of the people named at CIA. Practices would run from March through September each year - then it gave kids time to get acclimated to their room and prepare for high school season. Poor choice of words on my end - Eddie did not violate any IHSAA sanctions or rules to my knowledge.
So, you can tell your friend that was asking, Clint, that no IHSAA sanctions or rules were violated.

"I am not calling you out, P, but we both know that Mitch Sliga spent 2x more time in CIA's room than he did Fishers. He did not need to go searching elsewhere to receive support or partners because you provided that to him through CIA, and he was in there on a year-round basis."
Yes, I know out of all of the comments, this struck me.  But I thought during season, wrestlers couldn't train with each other.  I ask because I know kids are not only training in Academies together but now it has morphed into kids training together at their schools.  Isn't this against IHSAA Policy? Asking for a friend.

Clint Gard I agree 100 percent on your reply about officiating like this at the state tournament. I understand we’re in need of officials and as a licensed referee I understand mistakes are made but what we saw last weekend was let’s just sat bad at best. For example we had a match against Jordan Slivka and let me say Jordan is a friend, a great family and deserved the win. Jordan beat us 2-1 in o.t. and deserved it. I’m just pointing out we did a go behind....knees and hand on the mat and under the arms and ref said know takedown. What upset me is when I went to the table....(no swearing, no yelling just talking he threatened me out of the tournament and it wasn’t debatable. Plamen Paskalev a two time Olympian and medalist was in the corner and said that’s just embarrassing. He sent the video to coach Tom Ryan at Ohio state and div 1,2 and 3 refs and they all said everytime it’s two. It’s not the fact the referee didn’t call it cause it was a quick thing it’s the fact the refs don’t care. I talked to refs there and was told after they saw the film it’s simply a judgement call and every ref is different. Than why have rulebooks. If your a ref I respect what you do.....but if you don’t know what your doing stay out of the state tournament. Learn what, how when and where things are to be done. Graham got some calls for him as well that should not have been in matches. It’s just hard to coach when you have young refs that has no clue on the rules.

@V and M's Dad Thank you and my comment was mostly in a LOL manner, I actually like it when people complain to me because I enjoy the debates and the discussions.  I like to try to fix things that are broken, I like to try to see things from other's point of views and on an occasion I like to try to point out when people are just plain wrong and complaining to complain, and I try to do this last one with a big old stupid smile on my face for extra dramatic affect.
This is not you in this instance because what your complaint was has some basis to it.  The issue comes in trying to prove it to a point of being able to take action.  It is very sad, but it is the world we all live in.  No matter what the competition is people are going to try to cut corners and some do it better than others and sometimes they cover their tracks to the point that we can suspect, think, and just down right be sure but are not able to prove it.  This is the sucky part because they get to carry on and we feel cheated.  Just know that they look like idiots and everyone knows that about them and for that the rest of us are actually winning in that sense.
Thanks for the kind words and we will continue to try to close the loopholes that certain people have attempted to exploit.
