  1. Graphic Solutions in Greenwood. Rick Clark is the owner and he does a great job
  2. One mat sold. One mat still available
  3. Kelvin Jackson from Anderson Highland High School was an NCAA Champion for Michigan State
  4. We have two approximately 42x42 wrestling mats that we are trying to get rid of. The mats are used and in decent shape. They could definitely be used as practice mats. We will take best offer. If interested email me at swainm@centergrove.k12.in.us Mats are located at Center Grove High School in Greenwood
  5. Center Grove Sophomore Tyler Schott won the heavyweight division knocking off multiple very good wrestlers.
  6. I have had the opportunity to coach at a small school (North Montgomery), where we had a great run, and now at a big school (Center Grove). In my experience, I would say the biggest difference is small schools deal with a lot of multi-sport athletes with wrestling being their 2nd-3rd favorite sport. Once we were able to get our guys to commit to some offseason training we saw our results get better and better. I would say we did the majority of our offseason training in our wrestling room, we had a couple guys that traveled to academies (no academies within 90 mins) but not nearly as many as we have at Center Grove (two major academies within 30 mins). I do think that if we had an academy close to North Montgomery we would have had many more athletes taking advantage of that opportunity. Also, the classed team state tournament was a big help as well as far as getting kids to come out for the sport. The publicity of being "ranked" high as a team each year allowed kids to believe that there was a championship as a team that we could realistically win. This helped us pick up some of the better athletes and also convinced our guys that putting in some offseason training was important. As far as the individual tournament not being classed, I do not think that affected our success in a negative way. In my opinion, the key is getting the kids involved in wrestling early and hoping that wrestling turns into their top sport. There is no secret that the majority of the individual state placers start wrestling as elementary/middle schoolers and put in a fair amount of offseason training. For small schools, the earlier you can get kids involved and enjoying the sport, the more success you will have. That is easier said than done though as it is easier to be the "top" athlete at your school in the popular sports in elementary/middle school at small schools than at a big school. Sorry for the long post
  7. I think this is part of the reason why they split the sessions Friday. This is a way to limit the amount of coaches on the floor. But according to the IHSAA the “coaches” wanted to split the sessions.
  8. Center Grove vs. Evansville Mater Dei consolation semi finals of Team State score is 30-29 going into the last match. We are down 2 starters due to contact tracing and injury. We bump Royce Deckard III up to heavyweight where he pins a highly ranked wrestler in a crazy flurry to secure the team victory 36-29. Our bench went crazy!
  9. I would really like to know which coaches wanted Friday to be split up into two sessions. According to last nights video, “The coaches want two sessions Friday” instead of our traditional one session Friday night.
  10. 7-2 was the final score. 3-2 late in the 3rd, LaRocca goes for a desperation throw with five seconds left. Gives up takedown and two back points at the buzzer.

  16. One of the last wrestling tournaments held at The Wigwam in Anderson was my junior season 00-01. We hosted the Madison County Tournament. Since then, there were maybe a couple Central Regional tournaments hosted there from 2003-2005 or so. When my brother was in high school 1990-1994 Anderson wrestled all of their home duals there. I remember running around the facility as a kid during duals/tournaments. The wrestling room was located in the basement of the Wigwam. Fun times
