  1. What about the other 35 states? How many of them have class wrestling and have dropped the number of AA's they have?
  2. Alex, Reece, and Andrew, etc. were all going to be great no matter what system they wrestled under. They were all wrestling national competitions for years. They were all nationally ranked due to this competition. That is the culture we need to work on. Being in a class system with four timers in the bottom class who have 50 career losses and a 30-15 senior season is really not going to help indiana compete with states like michigan for all american wrestlers. If you want to lobby the IHSAA for rule changes to make indiana wrestling better, ask them to remove the travel restrictions for tournaments and let our best go to the Beast of East and tournaments like that.
  3. I don't know which states have class wrestling and which don't.
  4. Once again, can you show cause and effect? No. Could it be because they have a higher population? Could it be because they have more colleges offering wrestling? Could it be a better wrestling culture? The answer is yes, it could be any of these. There is no definitive proof that class wrestling is the cause of the drop in standings of Indiana in AA's. As my statistics professor told me you can show a correlation between increased ice cream sales and increased violent crime. Does this mean ice cream causes violent crime? Does the fact that Michigan has class wrestling and Indiana doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that class wrestling is the reason for more AA's? Once again, no. I am against any change that is just for the sake of change, be it liberal or conserative, because once we change we can never go back. Also, the reason this is unlikely to ever happen is because the IHSAA has said the will not class the team sgement without classing the individual segment. There are too many people in this state who prefer the individual tournament like it is.
  5. And I'll bet for every state like Michigan, there are 2 who have dropped their number of AA since going to class wrestling. I am sure someone out there could find some of these for me. I am terrible at research.
  6. 2x as many states with class wrestling are worse that Indiana. Maybe 2x as many states with single class are worse. That would mean the neither way is advantageous. That means we deffinitely should change. Right. I love that logic. Still absolutely no proff that class wrestling is an advantage. Oh thats right, it is because Y2 says it is.(I love pulling Y2's chain on this topic. )
  7. We had a long discussion on this board last summer and I brought up the same points. There are like 2x as many states with class wrestling that are worse than Indiana than better. By that count we should never want class wrestling. Also New Jersey and California, 2 of the top wrestling states have a single class system. Y2 always says don't let facts get in the way of your arguement, yet he continues to overlook these. There is no proof that class wrestling has improved competition in any state. I am not for any change just for change sake, because once we change we can never go back.
  8. Just because my team isn't there doesn't mean I won't be.(Although I did opt out of the Individual State.) Go CASTLE.
  9. Doesn't Michigan have 3x the population of Indiana?
  10. Are you going to be there?
  11. Well, except maybe Yorktown and Bellmont. None of the others work hard enough.
  12. I will buy my own ticket, but would allow you to buy me an adult type beverage. Don't you feel honored that i am being that generous. GO CASTLE.
  13. Wow, BlueBolt and I agree on something. The apocolypse is upon us.( actually I agree with the Castle fans and coaches on several subjects.)
  14. I agree. MD is not there this year because they didn't work hard enough. They deserve no ribbon and no recognition for that.
  15. I hope you are right, but they will have to show me alot more than they did the past two years to make a believer out of me.
  16. Without a great deal of effort and some serious senior leadership in the practice room, I don't see next year being any different from this year. The kids need to step up and put in the effort before, during, and after the season if we hope to see any change. I see the senior leadership as being the key factor. If someone doesn't man up and take the lead and put pressure on these kids, it will be another long season for all the MD faithful. ( in case you missed it, that was a challenge to this years junior class, man up!!!!!!!!!)
  17. On the individual level, I do not see MD improving much next year. They have a chance to make it to team state next year, unless Castle reloads and improves, as coach Harmon has shown they can. It all depends on wether the kids decide to apply themselves in the off season and improve. If they don't, next year will be a repeat of this year.
  18. Can't we all just get along? : It would make for a dull board though.
  19. I mentioned on another thread that I thought Boots could beat Wiseman and got hammered for saying it. I guess some other people believe it is possible also.
  20. I didn't say he could win it. I think he could beat Wiseman. Also I don't believe there are 16 wrestlers in the 171 weight class that are all as good as the number 2 and 3 ranked kids in the state.
  21. Castle and Reitz should be added to the list. What both of their programs have done the past few years is remarkable.
  22. At 171 watch out for Boots over Wiseman. Boots 4 losses were to Brandt and I believe Stein and or Weiss. With his family tree, I wouldn't count him out.
  23. I will make one reply to the Dusty Kief incident. I have seen this quote several times before, and if someone else posted it, I appoligize for the redundancy. When you win, you show some of your character. When you lose you show ALL of it.
