  1. What teams are in this sectional?
  2. Ryan Pribble of Turkey Run and Gabe Cook of West Vigo.
  3. MD vs Portage. Not sure the year or the round. Both teams had several state placers including a rematch of the championship match the week before between Jason Tabor and Danny Jankowski. Jankowski gets the win and Tabor raises Danny's hand and signals the crowd that Danny was #1. One of the classiest moments in sports I have ever witnessed. The whole match was deafening.
  4. Who wins the team from this sectional?
  5. Is it official that the IHSAA team state is done?
  6. Congrats PM team, coaches, and fans. You all were the best and you won. I hope to see you all at Team state next year.
  7. Prayers and condolences from this MD fan. May god watch over you during this time of tragedy.

    PM/MD/CP

A few years ago, Coach Goebel, in a move that boggles the mind, replaced MD's varsity 160 with the Reserve 152 to face another teams state placer. Lovelace from MD pinned their SQ. Believe me the 16 who make it to state each year are NEVER the best 16 wrestlers in the state at that weight class. The 8 placers are NEVER the best 8 in that weight class. Good draws and great runs do not make you a better wrestler, they just give you a higher placing.
  9. As has veen proven time and again, you can't judge a wrestler by how he wrestles at individual state. The golden rule there is advance without opening your self up to defeat. Guys who win a lot of 1-2 point matches at individual state usuall do so because they choose to keep it close. Alot of the matches that Tsirtsis and Roach won closely were by choice. Until next year when there will be no team state, bonus points are meaningless.
  10. As promised, my picks for this matchup:103 Fuqua vs Seng TF or pin by Fuqua. If Vibbert makes weight, Fuqua by decision or maybe major. 112 Saroff vs Goebel, Goebel by decision. 119 Burlison vs Pierre, Pierre by decision. could be bonus points. 125 Harvey vs Henderson, Henderson by decision. 130 Halstead vs Mangold, Mangold by decision. 135 Fuqua vs Schroeder, Fuqua by decision. 140 Tsirtsis by fall. 145 Roach by fall. 152 Flamme vs Weinzapfel, Flamme by decision. 160 Simms by fall. 171 Shrewsbury vs Brandenstein, Brandenstein by dec. 189 Boots by fall. 215 Kral by fall. 285 Vanwinkle by fall. I have the final score being MD 33 CP 29. Blast away.
  11. Could someone post PM's line up with records? I know about the 5 that made state.
  12. Does the IHSAA keep track of how many people attend each level of the individual state tournament? Was the tunout as low at the other 3 semistates as it was in Evansvillle? I would estimate there were maybe 3000 to 4000 at E-ville. If the turnout at state is as bad as it was at every event I attended this year, I would not be surprized to see it in a highschool gym next year.
  13. But remember, every once and a while the people wearing those shirts are cheering for a Gabe Cook or a Ryan Pribble. The story "Hoosiers" does exist. ;D
  14. LOL. I saw people wearing shirts that said that almost verbatim this past weekend at the Castle regional.
  15. I like some good boos every once and a while. Although, I think it is actually spelled booze. ;D
  16. I stand corrected. My head is bloody and bowed.
  17. The only reason everyone is talking about this matchup is because it happens FIRST. No one thinks the winner of this match walks to a state title. Everyone knows to win the championship they will have to go through PM to get it.
  18. I am almost certain that one year MD sent all but 1 wrestler to state. I believe it was Matt Boehman's senoir year and he was the 1 that didn't go.
  19. Did Seng and Lykens Wrestle at the MD Holiday Classic? If so, what was the score and who won?
  20. Totally disagree. This topic and threads like it build up fan interest. Without fan interest, this sport will dry up and blow away. Fan interest correlates directly to butts in the seats. You're correct in saying the boys will wrestle and nothing we say on here will change what will happen. A lack of fan interest( attendance ) has probably cost us the team state tournament. Thinking like yours will cost us the individual as well. Crawl back in your hole and leave the people who love this sport to our own devices.
  21. I will delay making my picks until the Individual tournament is done. A few years ago every poster on this board picked their 160 to beat MD's 160 because he was unranked prior to state. His name was Sam "The Fall Guy" Wildeman. He proceded to win state rather easily, pinning the number 1 ranked wrestler in route. In my opinion, the main reason MD has a shot is that these two teams will have very few, if any, wrestlers compete prior to the Team State. That means they will wrestle "straight up". Alot of MD's individual losses are to opponents who they have wrestled and beaten several times, only to lose because the wrestlers in question learned how to block and stall their way to a win.
  22. By far one of the funniest threads I have read.
  23. I wasn't going to say anything, so I'm glad you did.
  24. I know absolutely nothing about CP. Any guess I would make would be exactly that, a guess. I was just hoping you had better info than I do.
  25. Have you seen both teams wrestle? Or are you basing your picks on records?
