  1. Lower Level you will need to know a company that sponsors the suite to get the tickets. The tickets there are more reasonable, but it's due to the company off setting some of that cost. I'll be more than happy to take one of those if anyone has a ticket available. Upper level you can purchase them at a group rate, but its pricey since you have to buy the entire suite worth of seats at full value.
  2. Looks like Micic win got the #1 Match Honors on Big10 Networks Wrestling in 60 program Monday Night.
  3. 133 had a little bit of a shake up all around the Top 10 this past weekend. It will be interesting to see how the rankings shift because of it.
  4. I would assume whatever wrestlers gets eliminated at the semi-state level would be the main favorite for this event. We will likely have to wait until after that weekend to know who maybe in the field.
  5. Well the Hoosier Hills Conference forfeited to the weather today. But the weather didn't look as tough as the scouts predicted so we scheduled a rematch for next weekend.
  6. Clearly they are not too interested in being confined by the IHSAA by-laws. Sounds like they just need to go independent like La Lumiere in Laport. Then they could do about half the stuff and play against all the big recruiting programs in the Mid-west. Although playing someone who doesn't attend the school still won't fly.
  7. Well Jennings County tend to have travel problems any time there is even a slight weather issue. So while it never got quite cold enough to turn to rain into ice I can see JC administration making the decision based on last night reports. I also agree that it was a little premature and could have been pushed back, but we are looking at things after the fact too. Several other Saturday events were canceled or postponed in this part of the state, so JC wasn't the only one that got it wrong. At least they errored on the side of safety even if it ended up being the wrong call. If it's any consolation JC also had their Saturday night basketball games canceled too due to travel concerns, so they weren't playing favorites.
  8. Research has indicated it seems to have came from the early 1900s for some college kids dissertation. And he was pointed it out as a part of sociaties complaints about the youth of the time not as a Socrates quote. Somehow it got accredited to Socrates by someone after that. But still there is some kernel of truth to this issue reoccurring in each generation.

  10. Word is HHC is postponed due to the weather coming in and will be moved to Sat. Jan. 21st. Guess we have another week to see where things are. And hope TripleB doesn't raid the hospitality room on that date.
  11. Are we possibly having a mass overhauling the arrangement of the event? Maybe going back to smaller sectionals sizes and larger regionals (4 sectionals to a regional) like the pre-IHSAA Team State era? Do I dare mention the idea of wrestle-back at the semi-state for the ticket round on? Or are they just juggling a few teams around with very little actual change for most areas?
  12. I'm not following your logic since they were talking already into the topic of Open Enrollment and I was point out it was designed for Academic movement not Sports, per the IHSAA's transfer rules. Take it up with the people above or feel free to get it back on topic instead of find a way to keep it off topic. And my butt should be just fine until I need another trip to the restroom.
  13. Well that works as long as you says you are moving to take advantage of the schools strong Home Economics department and not just because you want to be on their sports team.
  14. And unfortunately based on other teams travel distances we wouldn't be able to grow with those type of events. That's pretty decent of them to do. I'm not sure you would get that from too many event, especially if its a multi-year contract. Although, to my early point, it does limit the competition they and the other teams could have potentially faced. Hopefully they will still end up running into some top OH squads and if they are lucky a couple of teams that could be just across that OH boarder.
  15. Yes they can travel next door at be within the travel limits. Sure that does open up for some good neighbor competition, but they are limited in which events (especially tournaments) in those states they could attend due to other top teams that could possibly be be invited. Your examples of travel are great and I agree in some cases we could take advantage of it more. But some of those trip are hard to justify to the coaching staff, parents, and administration if you only end up seeing one top national team there due to a few of the other team traveling too far. At an Illinois event in addition to some good Illinois teams, solid teams from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri could travel to Illinois for an event but due to the travel restrictions we may not be able to attend (again especially tournaments) if one of the teams is outside the distance. At an Ohio event in addition to some good Ohio teams, solid teams from Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland could attend but for the same reasons and IN team would have to decline. Again, yes its not most IN teams and its not completely shutting us out, but it is limited some of our better teams from being able to see what other top competition is out there and showcase some of the team and individual talent we have. Just due to the simple fact those other teams are travel from someplace else. If the travel restriction was modified to exclude the distance of other teams, a top team like Brownsburg could be invited to a Illinois event that would actually a reasonable distance away. And at that event Brownsburg could showcase their team and individual talent against a couple nationally ranked teams that came from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and/or Michigan. Since that event was able to bring in a couple big name schools the coaching staff and admin. could more easily justify the a out of state trip. If they do well it is more likely they or the next big name team from Indiana will get a similar invited to a good out of state event in the future. Plus, since the event is adding yet another big name team it is more likely other top national teams would be interested in attending that same event in the future as well. Being limited by other state travel distances doesn't effect most teams but it does limit the chance for some of Indiana's top teams to test their team and individual talent and get them and the whole state some more recognition or college recruiting attention.
  16. Yeah I forgot to mention weight class shifts. Those will sometimes help move IN guys up during the season too. Thanks for doing the legwork and identifying why some guys moves out. It's helpful to know what the details are.
  17. Yeah I doubt we would see a ton of out of state if tournament. But I bet we would see a few tough Region teams attend a decent multi-state tournament in Michigan/Wisconsin/N. Illinois. Of a good Ft. Wayne or eastern Indiana team venture over to a multi-state central Ohio tournament. Evansiville area could pick up a Multi-state event in Missouri or S. Illinois. I'm pretty sure a Griffith team or Evansville MD team from the early 2000 would have got an invite to a decently major event (if they wanted to go. Or more recently a few of our top #TheCounty or Indy schools could get some attention. Not all the big events but it still better exposure and more chances to face nationally ranked kids than we currently have. While those are not all going to be the major events you listed, the event would result in more chances for our team to match up against other nationally ranked studs. But as it stands right now if just one of those teams came from outside the travel zone then we don't end up going to the event since it would result in the IN kid having to FF in that match. The travel limit for IN teams is fine with me. However it's just dumb that our team are not getting a chance to compete in some good events due to be distance other teams have to travel.
  18. I said "finalists" not Champions. Unless that just happens to be the same answer, which it very well could be. Although the 49' Bloomington Team wasn't listed on Maligned's original post as the most Champions either. I'm guessing that would be since that was right after WWII when the IHSAA didn't sponsor an official tournament, so not all school were entered.
  19. After all the big national Holiday Tournaments some new names come out of the woodwork and usually make the national rankings list. The unfortunately side effect of this is that it pushes some of IN's lower ranked wrestlers out, since our wrestlers have no chance to attend these to prove their worth. Doing well in the major off season tournaments is really the only time we will see IN wrestlers move up any national rankings. Baring any ranked vs. ranked instate/boarder-state matches, during the school year our guys typically move down in ranking or if we get lucky they remain at their pre-season spot.
  20. On a similar note it would be interesting to know what team (all-time and modern era) has had the most state finalist (not qualifiers but "under the lights") in the same year? I know in some tournaments see see enough finalists from the same team that it almost looks like a dual meet, but the state tournament is obviously a much higher mountain to climb.
  21. Brackets are out http://www.trackwres...entId=249796009 Bedford North Lawrence Columbus East Floyd Central Jeffersonville Jennings County Madison Consolidated New Albany Seymour According to the seeds: Columbus East take the win with 12 seeded to make the finals. Floyd Central seeded as the Runner-Up on the strength of several top 4 placers. The big battle looks to be for 3rd place between Jeffersonville, Jennings County, and Seymour who are all seeded within a couple points of each other. The dark-horse for a top half placement is New Albany. They have the potential to sneak in if their team show up to score placement points like it did at the Jeff Classic. As usual there are plenty of great individual match ups that will provide a preview of the Jeffersonville Regional, plus seed implication for the Jennings Co and Jeffersonville Sectional.

  23. Thanks. They must have been reposted because the original result had Perry get the win over Penn in the final few matches. Not sure what changed on their end, but I'll switch it.
