  1. Not sure their are to many radio stations in the country that does what WZBD does for the sport of wrestling. Although I’ve not personally listened to a broadcast I do appreciate what they have done for that areas wrestling community.
  2. Same route as the boys semi-state. So for Mooresville it would be: Franklin (Mooresville) West Washington (Jeffersonville) Mr. Vernon (Castle) Floyd Central (Bloomington South)
  3. The plan explained in a different topic was to try and fill some of the open spots in brackets by adding in some additional girls from regionals that were more than 4 girls deep.
  4. I think his statement was just making the point that Reese, a Senior, wasn’t allowed the opportunity to become a 4x champion due to covid.
  5. That would be an inter-state rivalry then as last I heard he lived in Westfield.
  6. I’m just guessing but with trying to find a few girls to fill in some of the weight class holes*, plus it also falling on a holiday weekend it could be a a day or two more before it’s all officially released. The trackwrestling deadline for the SS has been set to be released at Tues. 1/2 at 4pm. Although they could always release it earlier if everything’s in place faster. I’d imagine the state brackets come out a little quicker with the timing and the fact all weight classes would be full. *Determine which 5th placers (or any available girl) should fill in the missing weight hole, then contact that schools coach, who contacts their wrestler to let them know, who contacts their coach, who contacts the tournament director if they are in or not, and then adjusting the bracket accordingly after. Then repeat these steps for the amount of SS weight holes there are for 4 different SS.
  7. The kids been putting in a lot of travel events, camps and just plain hard work from a young age to get to this point. Glad to see it’s paying off for him.
  8. I was never great at remembering tournament scoring but it seemed to me his may have been pulled from the NCAA tournament scoring with how that tech fall distinction was worded.
  9. Only 3 Rounds instead of 4 like the boys, and Round 1 is all the teams that would feed in that areas boys regional.
  10. The series seems to be in between needing 2 or 3 levels mostly depending on the area and weight class size. Based on some areas and weights jumping straight to semi-state could create some large bracket issues. The solution that could work for a few years (until more growth could occur) maybe two levels but with Level 1 be 8 regional/semi-state location where the top 3 advance to state. Then State be a 24 person bracket where the 1s get a first round bye. Match limits would prevent any early round wrestlebacks for sure though. But we know people are on both sides of the fence with less wrestlebacks, as well as the effects of an opening round bye. That is unless they are confident they can keep it at or under 24 entries at all weights for 4 semi-states over the next few years and just advance the normal 16 to state.
  11. Just shooting from the hip but maybe bring in a Regional 5th place to fill any of the 4 spot voids. Not sure how to best decide what 5th place to take for a single spot other than a pig-tail match. Though thats still an issue if three regional 5th exist and are all interested. A few weights are pretty full at the regional level but several are still pretty slim since interest is still building on the girls side. possibly need to see a weight by weight break down to see where that all falls.
  12. 127 at Perry. That’s an average of 9 per weight class. Pretty impressive pull for that area.
  13. And with the power of the internet we will learn about it as it’s happening. You have done well Connersville. I tip my cap to you.
  14. Girls Regional is occuring during the Saturday of the Mooresville Classic, so they moved the girls event up to this Friday accommodate for that.
  15. Pretty sure this answer should be the standard bearer for all other responses. He was a quality wrestler in HS but found a whole new level after that. Not just a 4x D3 champions, Riley was right there with the top guys for a world team position at one point. I’d even take this category out to high school senior that had a major break out year. Going from barely a SS qualifier as a junior to a high state placer definitely fits the idea here. Sure they may not have got the career accolades to get a decent offer to wrestle in college but a solid late bloomers none the less.
  16. Yes for the individual tournament team title.
  17. I believe they would award Co-Champions. I feel like this occured at Evansville Semi-State somewhere close to 2015 between EMD and Avon.
  18. I wrestled against two of them and the other was the scariest high school wrestling specimen I’be ever seen in person. I’ll let you guess who is who.
  19. I think it’s worth also pointing out the Girls Ironman Results. Kendall Moe of Hamilton Heights was runner up at 100. Rianna Murphy from Indiana attending Wyoming Seminary won the title at 105
  20. For those that don’t recall or never heard, Alex Tsirtsis was invited to the Midlands Tournament his senior year of HS. Something that had only occurred twice prior to that with Jimmy Carr and Cary Kolat being invited. Surprisingly the IHSAA even allowed him a rare waiver for him to compete there. At that point The Midlands was clearly toughest in season college event in the nation. He went 2-2 with both his loses coming by low scoring decisions against Top 10 seeded guys. Solid results for a high schooler.
  21. I'll say it again middle school wrestling is the Wild West of sports. It's basically a free for all and I agree some of its a little ridiculous.
