Obviously two things need to always be considered when:
1. The random draw of Semi-State and State which causes a ranked wrestler takes out another lower ranked wrestlers.
2. If you are within 3-5 ranking spots of each other it really shouldn’t be much of a surprise if the lower ranked wrestlers found a move at the right time to win in a close match. So I never really see those matches as the rankings failing.
Once those are factored in most people would be amazed about how above bar the rankers tend to be.

Didn’t mean to slight Levi Abbott. He’s got some lineage too. Southside blood going through his veins too.

Most impressive thing to me about Ocampo’s win was she was down 5 early and almost pinned, but just went back to plugging away. That’s the type of heart and fight we need to see out of all wrestlers.

Plenty of wrestling to go this evening. We will have a clearer picture of what maybe possible after this session. CP has left the door just a hair open though.

Let’s not forget that Hartleroad IS a Fargo champion. While I’m still shocked Paul Clark lost, it shouldn’t be surprising Hartleroad can beat that caliber of talent.
Good call. That completely slip my mind from this summer until you brought it up.

Guess I am confused why session 2 &3 are getting sold at 10 pm tomorrow? Just remaining tickets that went unsold i’m assuming?
If I recall they are waiting until after Friday’s sessions concluded so that parents of winning wrestlers get a chance to use their voucher to purchase tickets for Saturday’s competition before all of them are grabbed up by the general public.

This may be bigger then the tournament itself.
Something tells me the seating process will be easier to figure out.

Still working on it and still not selling as of right now.
Markio I’m glad we have you connected with the wrestling community. For years you have played the roles of point man, trouble shooter, or information guru for us on any Ford Center events. We would be in a deeper state of confusion and chaos on this matter and other previous ones if you weren’t around. Thanks for the added time you put in try to help the wrestlers, coaches, and fans.

TicketMaster is one of the biggest rackets in the history of racketeering. Provide absolutely no service whatsoever and just cost event goers an extra lump of money. Should be a crime, they are nothing but scalpers.
Always been amazed how a computer based system where I still have to locate and input most of the information to get the ticket tacks on such a high “processing” fees. They should least call it something else cause the actual “processing” involved isn’t putting them out that much per ticket. Does the IHSAA get some extra kick back on this “processing?”. Cause if not I not sure why they feel this is the best option for anyone involved.

Anyone remember the "Good ol days" when the biggest issue was people saving seats.

Fair point - post season distribution does play in to it. What are some other conferences you’d put up there against the DAC and HCC in terms of being one of the toughest/deepest conferences?
Not knowing the distribution well I'm not sure I would be the best to answer that. But, would say if a decent amount of the conference wrestlers advanced to SS (yes I know not all paths are created equal) they should be in consideration.
Another point to throw out would be top-heavy conference qualifiers vs. qualifiers being distributed among several teams. If we are talking toughest/deepest I'd lean more toward the distribution factor over just one or two teams dominating the qualifiers. The DAC and HCC would be among those conferences where the distribution is pretty good too.

Thanks! So with 7/8 and 6/8 teams sending kids to State and 24 and 23 total qualifiers respectively for DAC and HCC I would say those conferences appear to be the deepest in Indiana.
I don't doubt there is some talent there. However, one thing to take into consideration is that some conferences have wrestlers that run into each other often in sectional and regionals while other conferences are better spread out and may not have a chance to see each other much before semi-state. So I'd venture to say a few other conferences are decently deep too, but due to the alignment ended up either eliminating each others wrestlers or at least putting them in a position to get a pretty bad draw to overcome at semi-state.

If the IHSAA wants more people steaming they have sure made that a viable option now. Here is to hoping their network holds up.

Ford Center seating says 11,000 but will that number of seats actually be available with how State will how state is set up. I'd venture to say the seating for State would be slightly less than 11,000. Plus, wasn't it also mentioned someplace earlier that suites would be an option, which I'd assume is also counted in the 11,000 number? And there isn't much space for the wrestlers to be in between matches other than finding a seat in the stands too.
From what I can recall the Grainbridge/Bankerslife attendance for the finals was usually over 11,000 and I'm not sure that included anyone who went in through the IHSAA process (wrestlers, coaches, administration, etc.).
So, I'd say some of you might need to hope the travel to Evansville is indeed a hindrance and more folks have considered watching it via the stream.

She earned every bit of that one too. Heck of a lot of heart and determination there. Congrats.
