  1. From what I understand IU had a mass exit at 141-149'. Malloy ,Raley, Brent S, springer have al left the program. Schaefer is at Davenport and intel says Springer is back in Iowa with UNI. Not sure about Mally or Ethan but I am sure they will be somewhere

    good god man

Former Oklahoma State superstar and Pennsylvania native Jordan Oliver has announced that he will be joining the Arizona State coaching staff this season.  Oliver made the announcement on Monday via his twitter account (@that_dude_JO) that he would now be a Sun Devil.

Oliver, a former 2x NCAA Champ for Oklahoma State, is currently one of the top American freestyle wrestlers on the scene. He finished runner-up at the 2014 World Team Trials at 65kg, falling to Brent Metcalf in the best of three finals.

Oliver is part of a huge wave of big names associating themselves with the Arizona State program since former World Champ and US Freestyle Coach Zeke Jones took over as Head Coach earlier this summer.  The Sun Devils have already landed a handful of blue chip recruits for the 2015 recruiting class, and have now added a premier big-name senior level world athlete to their staff.

  3. Way to go Morgan, good job. An Athletics director with balls. Why sit in mediocrity. Go for it. If it don't work, there's plenty more capable candidates. Look at MSU and IU sitting on their hands. We know where they will be in 3 years. At least hope prevails in WEST LAFAYETTE!!! Any hope  for Indiana, Michigan State?

    Hope...? No.
  4. Has it crossed anyone's mind that perhaps the Purdue Admin hired Coach Ersland based in large part on the recommendation of the three current Purdue wrestlers who were part of the interview process? Maybe just maybe it's important that the current athletes believe that he is the guy to take the program to the next level rather than the message board heroes. Where does it say that you have to be a world or Olympic champion to be a good coach? I missed that somewhere.

I'm a Buckeye that's fairly well known. I'm also a fan of our kids from Indiana no matter where they are wrestling. I have known Coach Ersland since he wrestled at Iowa. I wish him the  best and I hope the University provides him what he needs to win.

Yeah I would've liked a big name. But I'm ready to get behind this guy and see what he can do. Having said that, show me a list of the top 10 coaching staffs in D1 and I'll show you a list of national champs, multiple AA's and world medalists.
  5. If he wins, it will be a good hire. I'm not sure how it could be a lot worse in terms of results. One thing that can be said about the Hinkel era is kids did seem to wrestle with a lot of passion. There was a recognizable joy in their wrestling, and I assume they all loved wrestling for him.
