Cal College hires Leroy Vega as first wrestling coach

As hires go, Peter Haring thinks he's hit a home run with this one.
The Calumet College of St. Joseph's Athletic Director may have socked a grand slam with the hiring of former Portage and University of Minnesota wrestling standout Leroy Vega as the first coach of the school's new sport, as first reported on nwi.com.
"He's pretty close to the total package for his age and experience factor," Haring said late Monday. "You can really see his passion for the sport. As big as it was to announce we were starting wrestling, it's just as big if not bigger to find someone of his caliber to be the leader of the program as we build it from ground zero.
