  1. I know in past years, some of these KY studs have skipped this tournament to go to The Beast of the East. Anybody know if that's going to be the case this year?
  2. I think they graduated in 2005 with Coughlin, and Tsirtsis, Andre, and Maurer were in 2004
  3. I pretty much agree with everything you said
  4. Since a lot of people have started to mention that Perry may be the best team in recent memory, I'd like to see how they would hypothetically match up with Mater Dei from 2003. This is the best team I have seen since i started following the sport in 2000. I don't know Perry's full lineup this year so someone will have to fill that in for me, but Mater Dei's looked like this- 103- Brian Bittner- State Qualifier 112- Bryan Williams- 5th place State 119- Joe Hillenbrand- SS Qualifier 125- Craig Macke- 3rd place State, lost to Angel Escobedo 130- Matt Coughlin- 2nd place State, lost to Andre Hernandez 135- Aaron Scott- 3rd place State, lost to Alex Tsirtsis 140- Joe Lehman- SS Qualifier 145- Craig Weinzapfel- State Champ 152- Dustin Nosko- State Champ 160- Sam Wildeman- State Champ 171- Blake Maurer- State Champ 189- Jason Coughlin- SS Qualifier 215- Tom Unfried- State Qualifier 285- Chaz Schwartz- Sectional Qualifier
  5. I heard the freshman Kemper from Central beat Appel from Reitz on a last second escape and takedown to win 3-1
  6. So, not recruiting a 2 year letterman that didn't place at state is not doing your homework?? I'd say there is a lot of college coaches out there "not doing their homework" then. He should feel fortunate he is getting the opportunity to wrestle for a school that is going Division 1
  7. Last I heard Blake Rueger was 3-0 at 145
  8. Wasn't there a HWT in the 70's from Evansville Bosse that made it out of sectionals as an alternate and then went on to win state?
  9. You forgot Stein. I'd say he has a pretty good shot
  10. Trevor Moody was 5-2 instead of 3-2. He lost a tough 7-5 match to a 2x state champ from OH in the round to place. He also beat Steven Fernandez an Oklahoma state champ 7-2. Fermandez had beat Molloy earlier in the tournament.\ Blake Rueger was 3-2, but beat Andrew Morse who was a Michigan state champ and with Blake being his only loss during the tournament went on to take 3rd. Blake lost a tough 2-0 match to PA guy giving up near fall at the buzzer in the round to place. While Gideon Van Hook was 0-2, he had a 4 point lead in both matches only to go on to lose.
  11. Were the Mater Dei Super duals that Jasper wrestled in not a part of their season?
  12. Are you still going to post the results from the Semi-State pick'ems, or did they get lost when the server went down?
  13. I think it might have been Robbie Mallory?
  14. In 2001, didn't Danny Williams from Warren Central and Tom Schneider from Lawrence North wrestle like 7 times including the State Finals?
  15. Can you show me where in the rule book it states that you have a 5 count to get off the hips? If you've noticed in recent years Reitz guys have been pinning a lot of guys with what has become known as the "Reitz stack" where the head is stuffed under straight to their back. This move is done from being on the guy's hips. In my opinon, stalling on top isn't about riding the hips. It's about the lack of attempts of pinning combinations.
  16. That even though you may do nothing wrong, if some one with great credentials(Let's say a Harvard grad) decides they want your job there's not much you can do about it. The company would be stupid not to give them the job. To keep it related to wrestling, what if David Taylor decided he wanted to transfer to IU? Paul Young has always been a good kid and hard worker. He grew up in Bloomington, and has been a starter for IU for several years. David Taylor tech falled Young earlier this year. If Taylor decided he wanted to trasfer to IU shouldn't he be the starter?
  17. Actually I believe Grammer gave John Smith 2 of his 5 career losses in college, and was a Division II wrestler
  18. Excellent point! I predict that at least 4 of them win, but could see all 6 of them doing it.
  19. At 145 Dallas from Mt. Vernon is ranked and he wrestled 140 last weekend
  20. Yeah I heard about this Alex Johns kid. Do you know much about him? (school, record, and any other background info) Alex Johns is from Evansville Reitz with a career record of 197-17. He placed 6th at 103 in '07, 3rd at 112 in '08, and 3rd at 119 in '09. A great pickup for the Greyhounds!
