  1. What teams are involved in this and where is it?
  2. Any idea when it will open everywhere else?
  3. Does anyone know how to find the brackets from the beginning of the tournament?
  4. Any update on where he might be wrestling in college?
  5. Congrats buddy, I hope you do great things at the next level!
  6. Does anybody know when that movie "Foxcatcher" that is about the Dave Schultz situation will be released? Last I saw it was supposed to be released in Dec 2013 and postponed until sometime in 2014.
  7. I would say it's a lot more than 5 months. It is basically a year around job. And from my experiences at the DIII level, most days during the school year you are on campus from 6am workouts until 10pm finishing recruiting calls. I'm not saying it's a bad gig, but it's a little ridiculous to think it's only 5 months of work.
  8. What's Abe Hall up to these days? I saw that he's not on the roster for Wabash anymore and was just curious.
  9. Some good stuff in this post. A couple other points to add- #1 I've met parents that think 5 pounds isn't that big of a deal for a 50 pounder... That's equivalent to cutting 20 pounds for a 200 pounder, and that doesn't even take into consideration the different effects because of the age of the wrestler. #2 It's good to try factor in growth when deciding what weight to wrestle at the beginning of the year. In high school they build in a 2 pound growth allowance, so parents of youth wrestlers should consider this too. Many times when kids end up cutting weight (and the only reason that I ended up cutting weight sometimes as a youth) it's because they begin the year weighing 94lbs so they wrestle 95. Over the course of the season, they may gain 3-4 pounds or more, and they want to continue to wrestle the same weight. I would say they if they are not ok with changing weights during the year, they should just begin the season the weight class up because over the course of a 3+ month season they will almost definitely be gaining weight.
  10. Just curious, but what is Tyler Willis up to these days? Is he still playing football in college?
  11. Really cool post! My dad, Charlie Cook, is mentioned from the 1969 season. Other than some wall charts and some newspaper clippings, I have never seen much about my dad's career, so this is really cool for me!
  12. Any update on who took over the North Posey job?
  13. Evansville Reitz- The first 3 are easy- Jeff Harp (2x state Champ, school's only state champ ever), Alan Grammar (Never a state champ, but in college was a 5x AA and gave Jon Smith 2 of his 5 career losses), Alex Johns (3x placer and 197 career wins) The 4th spot would be the real debate... This debate would require a lot of adult beverages and probably a few matches between guys that are too out of shape
  14. Maybe this has already been addressed on here, but does Ethan Raley still go to Lincoln College?
  15. Anybody know what his plans are for college?
  16. I can honestly say Indiana is in the Dark Ages compared to other states with the 1 class system and no wrestlebacks. But, at this point in the season, it does no good to complain about the format. Just make the best of the situation, and realize the guy you are wrestling against got the bad draw!
  17. I haven't seen any of the matches this year, so I was just curious, was the 220 match between R and HH close earlier in the year? It surprises me that you list that as a possible upset. I hope you're right, but I thought HH's 220 was pretty tough
  18. I see that he is listed on Notre Dame College's roster, but they have a different kid ranked at 133. Does anyone have any insight as to if he just isn't the varsity guy or if he is hurt?
  19. I thought it was pretty interesting to see Drake Stein at HWT for Purdue. I was there, but didn't get a chance to see him. I still picture that tall skinny 171 pounder he used to be, I can't imagine what he would look like as a HWT
  20. I didn't plan on commenting, but because I've been close with Mason and his family for a while now, I will try to clear it up to avoid comments like the ones above. When I spoke to Mason last week, he said that he had a pretty serious injury to his shoulder in football this season. Since he has been in high school, his main goal has always been to play college football and he looks to have that opportunity having narrowed his list to 3 D-1 schools( 2 being in the Ivy League). Apparently the doctors also told him that the only way he would be ready for college football would be rest/rehab his shoulder, instead of wrestling this year. He's a really good kid, and feels bad about letting his coaches and team down, eventhough it is a situation that's beyond his control. I hope this sheds some light on the situation and everyone considers this before saying anything more to this effect.
  21. Just curious, but what schools are they at? I had thought that Jackson committed to Purdue and McKinley to IU, but i see them listed as LIM and CMB?
