  1. I again want to state that I agree with coach snider 100 percent on this issue.  Nothing would be worse for our sport than loosing the team series.  If we ever want a classed team state then the loss of the finals we have now would kill that idea.

Y2 the difference between the team and individual is just that, the team is fourteen guys, the individual is just one.  I know you don't see it the way that most of us do, but the team portion of the tournament is influenced greatly by the size of the school, and the fact that we don't have as good of atheletes.  It makes it very hard for a team to compete.  The size of the school doesn't affect an indivdual, small schools obviously won't have the number of finalists that big schools have because they are not as good, or deserving of making it to the finals, they do though still have the same oppurtunity which is not true of the team portion.  I think that most of us view the two as completly seperate things.

If we want to keep things like the team state what we need is a more powerful ihswca, but due to lack of participation by the coaches we look weak.  Its no ones fault but our own.  I haven't missed a fall or spring meeting since I became a coach, get down there and show our strenght in numbers.

Finally and this is just an idea, since the clinic is in Indy, and the Ihsaa is there as well is there anyway we could get Bobby Cox or an ihsaa rep to our meeting to discuss what is going to happen?

  2. I think that a lot of you are overratting your teams abit.  I am seeing posts that have several teams around the state getting 5-6 guys to state, no way.  It is extremely hard to get that many guys down there.  Only 2-4 teams a year get that many kids down there.  We're talking about the top 16 in the whole state. Not every wrestler who is "pretty good". even if you have 5-6 guys who are "pretty good", or even 2-3 the chances of getting all of them down there is extremely low do to the randomness and bad draws that occur in the tournament.  I would be very suprised if any of the schools reach the number they are predicted to get on this thread.

  3. O.k. there have been a lot of transfer rumors this summer.  Welches to CP, those Illini twins to cp, BQ to Carrol, Bratcher to Yorktown, Brooks to CP...etc so now that schools started we should know if they are true or not can anyone give confermation to these rumors or others?

  4. I think a lot of people are sleeping on Bellmont.  They were very close with Yorktown by the end of the year, and they only graduated three wrestlers.  They are replacing their 215 with a j.v. kid that was really good, I think that the hanger will be rocking come team regionals.

  5. If you go to the DOE site and look at the Atheletic postings you'll see about 100 of them from North Miami, including varsity, Jv, middle school, and elementary wrestling.  They also have postings for about every other coaching postion at the school besides head football-  the assitant postions are availible though.  Anyone know whats going on there?

  6. We had a kid running this in practice all the time.  I got on his case and told him to stop just because I figured it had to be illegal, or that it was going to hurt one of his teamates,  its a really rough move.  I thnk its a good thing its illegal.

  7. I know that class wrestling is a greatly debated topic on here, but I just saw on IHSAA.org that next year soccer is going to go to two classes.  This is interesting because too my knowledge all other sports have either a 4 or 5 class allignment.  Soccer would be the first with a two class allignment.

Here are a couple of thoughts/ questions I have about this.

    - one argument that people have about classing is that a three class system would work best, but that it wouldn't work because the IHSAA isn't going to have speacial classes for wrestling-  we see know that soccer does, do you think this gives hope to wrestling as far as the possible classifications?

    -  An argument against class wrestling even at the team level is that it will just create a new situation were the same teams win every year, ex.  EVMD would win the small school title each year.  In the case of soccer (which I only follow when there is local coverage) wont this same situation be achieved as Fort Wayne Canturbury will win the small class every year, and a larger school 5a will win the big class?

    -  anyone else got any thoughts on this subject?

  8. With traffic being kind of low this time of year ill try to add some that I am pretty confident about but others may disagree let me know if you do.

Bluffton- Randy Pursley, Ben Sprunger close second.

Bellmont- I would say Tim Myers

Whitko- Matt Koontz (only champ I think)

    Snider- Greg Wagner

Carroll- Brock Norton or coach Voit (sp)

    Fort Wayne Dwenger- Antone Talamentes

    Fort Wayne North- Graylan Early

Fort Wayne Concordia- Eric Lebuea (sp)

  9. Back when Howe was graduating the top ranked wrestler in his weight, and nationally was Jason (in think his name was Jason)  Welch (or Welsh)  anyhow you get the picture.  He was ranked above Howe in all of the publications at that time.  Does anyone know what happened to this guy, where he went to school, how he has done at nationals.  He may be an AA at a school I dont honestly follow each AA there is, but I do know that he has not had near the success that Howe has.

  10. I was reading on the football discussion board a thread about best places to see a high school football game.  So I figured Id bring the same quesiton over here.  Where do you think the best Atmosphere for a dual is at.  Intros, lights, acctual match, fans, seating things like that.

I would have to say my favorite would be Adams Central Vs.  Bellmont at AC.  I was only there once, and it was a few years back, at the meet an A.C. wrestler- Craig Beer, I believe had a horrible ankle injury,  anyhow it was packed and really intense.  Not sure if it still has the same intensity but back then it was great.

  11. Ace, the comments that i found to be the worst was hungus' that the kids are not getting better in carrols room.  i agree that y2s rtc is great we incourage all of or kids to go there.  secondly your right about me not seeking or needing approval from you about our team.  i was simply pointing out that at busco we have some good stuff going as a whole and that we also put in alot of time with coaching in the offseason.  the bfs stuff was said because i feel that our atheletes working on the same preograms year round is a  way that we get better while participating in several sports during the year.                                                                                                                                                                                                    one the same page of disscussing coaches coach dock told me to let karl know that he needs to spend less time on indianamat and more on the track.  he said he would get way less email questions that way. haha dont kil me i am just the messanger karl.  al comments should be sent docks direction.
