  8. Ok so if we could get it classed I think that an easy way to do it would be geographically. You could have 16 sectionals. They wrestle a team sectional the week of sectionals at a nuetral or teams sight depending on location. Eah sectional would have 6-7 teams so eather one team or two teams would get a bye. One sectional would have 5 teams, the southeast corner of the state due to travel issues and the fact that there are really only five 1-A schools down there. After the sectionals the week of regionals the two winning teams would meet up. Winners would be your final eight and at the state tournament. I divided the seven and six school sectionals up everyother one for the sake of the simulation. I tried to go as geographical as possible. Ill show you what I came up with, im going to do it in eight different threads so my screen doesent bounce around on me. Let me know what you think, consider travel time for both sectionals and regional. Any flaw you see please let me know.
  9. Thats a pretty solid state for wrestling too. Maybe we should copy them. Hey do you know if Blair wrestles in their state tournament?
  10. His post was about classing team state. Anytime the individual side gets thrown in the team side gets lost in the shuffle. Cant we all agree that getting a class team state is very important for our sport and fight about indivdual state latter?
  11. They honestly probably didn't really care. Now they need unity from all the coaches to keep it on their end. In order to get the unity they push for it to be classed. Who cares why they are pushing for it at least they are pushing for it.
  12. What would be the motive? It used to be to beat Mater Dei, and now that has been done. Why would they want a one class event still. If you look at the 3 class classification the only teams I could see them worrying about not being in the big class would be Bellmont, Yorktown, and Mater Dei. Other than that none of us have an effect on the tournament really. So why would they care if there were two other smaller division champions? What do they gain from there being a classed tournament? I think it looks like them saying it would be great to have two other champions. I mean its not like they would feel threatened in someway by there being other champions. Its not like they are out to get us or something. I also don't see them wanting to keep the one class tourny alive as a statement that they dont want it to be ever classed. They want to keep it and then start moving foward.
  13. I really dont think this was brought up by the big schools as a substitute. I think it is seen as something that can help grow the popularity of the idea of an eventual classed team tournament.
  14. I dont disagree, but im not saying it will be a thousand kids, but if you recognize say the top ten in the rankings in each class, if coach shows up, brings a wife or a friend, your at 60 right there. if they bring a couple people it could add up quickly. Im not saying whole tems or thousands of people but an extra hundred or so wouldn't hurt. Just thinking positive here.
  15. I dont see why you cant do both really, its not as though i'm going to quit going for the NECC title because there is some sort of rankings system out there. I dont see how something like this can hurt. Even if its meaningless it is at least interesting a good for discussion. If more people are talking about wrestling it can't hurt.
  16. I would be glad to in represent my region as far as voting for the small schools. I think your doing a great job getting all of this stuff up on here and I hope that others go with it as well. I really ike the class divisions hopefully they stay on the main page for a while. Good stuff keep it coming.
  17. Totally agree, but this is better than nothing, kind of like one of those "mythical" championships that I always here college football teams winning back in the day. Either way it would be pretty cool to see some small schools get recognized.
  18. When I first heard the idea I honestly was not all that excited about it. Now as I see it progressing I think that it is an awsome idea. It adds something for the small schools to work toward. I think that the votes should be taken seriously and this should be something that small schools really work toward and take pride in. I also like the idea of some type of award at the end of the season like a simple plaque, or trouphy. If it were given out at team state maybe the teams recieving the awards could bring their kids and that could help attendence if it was given out to say a top ten, thats pry a couple of hundred kids. I also know that with all the attention a ranked football team brings it would really help a wrestling team to be able to be recognized, and be ranked.
  19. Karl just got all of the info together. Maybe we could use the genius rankings for these. Are those going to be done again?
  20. The point of something like this would be to show that the Ihsaa that we are unified and all want the same thing. Y2 brought up something he sees as a flaw, would you guys support moving foward with going for classes now, or saving it first then going for classes. If this was something that we end up doing I want to know which you think would be the best way to go. The online petition would be more of a thing to get more people involved. If the fans on here sign it and feel unified then maybe they will show up down at state. Also please know I'm not trying to debate team state with this question, just when we should go for it. Let's keep this thread going in this positive direction.
  21. If you feel that attempting to save the team state is a worth while cause then lets discuss it, and some Ideas to do it on this thread. Please no class indivdual state discussion. Ok here are some of my ideas, let me know what you think. This summer I got married. My wife and I sent out a couple of hundred invites with pre- stamped returns. we recieved a couple of hundred responces back in fairly short order. So with that in mind- 1. Send out a letter to each wrestling coach in the state explaining the importance of first keeping team state, then classing it. With the letter we put a prestamped "postcard" that they sign, and check off that they want to keep team state, and then check again if they are for the eventual classing of team state. If we dont recieve a responce we call the coach until we get one. In a few weeks I really think we could get 90% of the coaches to respond to this. 2. We send out a letter to every principal and A.D. in the state explaining what we want. If we can get the coaches letters back we could show that we have a 90% backing for keeping team state. They are representing us, if this is what we can all agree upon as being best for the sport I think they would be more inclined to back us. 3. I also think that there are several ways to have our fans get involved as well. One Idea would be an online petition on this site that all could post their names on. A facebook fan page, and also simply emailing the IHSAA and explaining the importance of team state to them.
  22. Couldn't agree more. Ive brought this idea up several times during this thread, yet it still goes back to fighting about indivdual state. Ive let myself get involved in it as well. We should start a new thread on saving team state and go from there. Ok start it after I post this.
  23. I would still argue that helps your 3 pounder. He could have gotten better wrestling Stein, Castner, Bratcher, Duckworth, McCray.... there are a lot of solid small school guys as well.
  24. I did do that, I now see the flaws in that part of my argument. The point I was making was that McCray had a lot of success in your room regardless of the size of your school.
  25. Ill bet your 103 lbs wrestler is much stronger from offseason workouts than if he had just wreslted. Very few rooms regaurdless of size are as good Mishawakas room. Jordan was a bit burnt out on the sport when summer rolled around, and chose to focus on football.
