    Both of those situations took away from the team series. Neither is what I would consider a good thing, just because one may be more deceptive doesnt make the less deceptive decision correct. They both have added to the problem that our team state has. You should just wrestle your best team possible and these problems can be avoided.

    It was their choice to try and pull out of the regionals. Had they not done that they would not be in this situation. I am sure if a kid is truelly to hurt to wrestle then the IHSAA would be resonable and not force them to wrestle.

    It would have never came to that. We would have been there no matter what, and all able bodied wrestlers would have wrestled. due to injury or illness we did not have our full varsity lineup in at any event this year, we did not pull out of any event.

    Every other team wrestling in the regional takes the same chance. This is the worst reason yet that I have heard for not wrestling and exactalty what IHSAA was talking about. if the reason you gave is correct then the IHSAA did exactatly what they should have. Fear of getting hurt is not a reason not to wrestle someone, that is a total joke.

    I have been to the last four regional rep meetings and do not know what the propossal will be. We have worked on the coaches survey, the team state clinic, advertising the team state, and the spring clinic. We have discussed routes to get the team side classed. As far as a propossal I do not know what it will be.

    I completley agree Y2. I hope that someday one will be in place. Karl the committee has focused more on advertising and the state clinic to get the attendence up and show that the team series can be peofitable which is still an important component to this. If it makes a lot of money than we have good shot at keeping it. The next logical step would be a push for classing it, and an idea for the setup would be helpful.

    That is exactaly what that group has been working on. It is much more difficult than just coming up with a proposal. If you have a format that you think would work then please share it. I'm sure the IHSWCA would be open to hearing it. The committee was open to any ihswca member you could join it or share your ideas, maybe they would help us get a classed team state which would be awsome.

    It has been in the past, and was shot down what would change it this year? I modified my other post. Do you think that loosing team state now will help us get a classed team state someday?

    It just seems to make sence to me that if they were to get rid of a state duals series that we wouldn't get one back. I mean this is what we are pushing for now, why wouldn't they just give us a classed team state now if they were going eventually going to? Do you believe that loosing the team state would help us to get a classed team state? If so please tell me the logic behind that.

    I coach at a small school and would love the oppurtunity to compete at a team regional. It should be an honor to go and comptere there. The team that wins this regional will go on to compete at the state finals. Do you think that Delphi who is competing in this same regional feels that team state is a joke? Heck they have a chance at winning the thing. The IHSWCA supports the event being classed. A large majority of the coaches in the state support a classed team duals. The problem is attitudes like this. If we lose the team state then it will be gone for good and we will never have a classed team finals. Instead of whinning about it, we should support it so that it can be saved and someday classed.

    What suggestion do you have that will be good for the sport as a replacement for our team series? There will still be a "team" champion that will be crowned, the only problem is that it will in no wa be an acurate indication of who the best team is. It will show who has the most top end guys, but not the best full team. I do not see how anyone could think that this is good for our sport. We may lose or team championship and it will be replaced by an inferior system that doesn't show us who truelly has the best team. Oscar you have said, and others seem to feel that the team side is mainly driven by coaches ego. Why do you, or others feel this is the case. Why not celebrate our top teams? How is this different from anyother team sport. Team sports show who have the best collection of talent, not which team has the best couple of guys. The team series pushes all 14 of the kids, and the JV kids, not just the top individuals. It is not a selfish endevour, but one that pushes our coaches to work for all of their kids, not just the most talented ones. If it were classed it would effect even more kids. If it is lost we will never have it classed. This is a huge issue for our wrestling community and we need to fight for it. If it is lost wrestling as a team sport will in many ways be lost in our state as well. Please tell me how this is good for our sport.

    Great point. There is a good chance that the weather will postpone the regionals. The wrestlers should be cleared of staph by that point and the team should be able to compete. If they choose not to compete at that point then it is a truely embarrassing situation for our sport. This is bigger than eastern high school, it could potentially effect everyteam in our state, and wheather or not we have a true team champion. If they only have 5 or 6 eligible wrestlers (which would mean they automatically lose) then they need to talk to Bobby Cox about a possible replacement for the team tournament.

    If you look at the class rankings and the genius rankings I think that you would see some pretty open races. Bellmont, Yorktown, and EMD among others in 2A. 1A would be pretty open and I believe would change every year. If we lose team state it would be the worst thing that could happen to Indiana high school wrestling. In my years as a wrestler and coach I have not seen an issue that is as important to the growth of our sport as this.

    What was wrong with the question? I asked how they have finished at tournaments because I vote in the class polls and I have not seen any tournament results for them this season. They are a borderline top ten team so it would be helpful information. Was it the no discussion rule or something?

    Ya sorry about the spelling. I'm just trying to get the word out there, and I'm using a droid. It makes typing a pain, and doesn't help my poor spelling and grammer either. I don't think that the facebook page is going to save the team state its just a way to get the word out to a large group of people very quickly. If you have any better ideas please share them. I have not seen anyone else doing anything for this so if you have any ideas that can advertise, and get people to the team state please share them.

    What are the exact rules on knee braces? I know over the years I've seen some rather large ones and am I just wondering what makes them illegal or not. Also does anyone know a company that produces large, good, protective ones that are legal, and where they can be purchased. Thanks

    If you look at the dual scores it looks like a two team race between Prarie Heights and Fairfield. Third should be between Busco and West Noble. We wrestled to a tie, and both had two key guys out. Central Noble, fremont and Westview all have alot of solid kids and should be up there as well.

    When a guy is doing the splits like that last match why isn't that colnsidered fleeing?

    In the Fort Wayne Semi-state you have to go with the NHC. I wouldn't say that it is the best in the state, but I would say it is in the area. I always thought it was pretty cool that a couple of years ago all of the teams in the conference qualified for team regionals (when they took tw teams out per sectional).
